Absolutely disgraceful job by ESPN here, finishing the Alabama-Georgia game out while pre-empting the Ohio Valley Conference Championship Game...ESPN2 just clicked over, and we had to miss the first 2:30, Tenn-Martin 11, Austin Peay 3...

...I don't care what the Conference is, tip-off of a Conference Championship Game, that yeilds an automatic bid for the Big Dance, that's already scheduled as part of your 'regularly scheduled programming...you can't pre-empt basketball fans from seeing every second of that game from the tip-off to the final buzzer. You just can't. Alabama-Georgia should have been bumped to ESPN News. Such BS. Infuriating, and completely unfair to these teams and what a Conference Championship Game for a Tournament Bid represents.

oh come on, alabama-georgia is a classic basketball rivalry.

why did bama ever fire gottfried?  #### them.

bo ryan affair  honestly, none of you guys should ever give up hope.  if someone is willing to #### bo ryan, there is someone willing to #### you.

UNI into the conference championship game.
Drat!  Missed it.  Between the caucuses here today, KU Senior Day against Iowa State, and the Minnesota high school hockey state championships, my plate's been pretty full.

Uruk-Hai - that Beatle hair guy for Wichita State is Ron Baker.  He's from a 4000ish-sized town in west central Kansas, but IIRC as a senior was runner-up for state POY behind Perry Ellis.  No D-I scholarship offers out of high school, walked on at Wichita State and played his way into a scholarship.

I'm a HUGE Razorbacks fan, and I've been following SEC Basketball over 30 years. I have as much appreciation for historical rivalries as anyone. For this 2015-2016 season, Alabama and Georgia are both middle-of-the-road programs, and with the SEC Tournament yet to be played, this game was relatively meaningless. A Conference Championship Game with an Auto-Bid at stake should take precedence over pretty much any final Saturday game for viewing. Especially one with a true 'Cinderella Story' in the making, with Peay's improbably run. ESPN has so many networks, they could have bumped the final minutes of Tide-Dogs to ESPN News, or even put OVC Championship on ESPN News where absolutely nothing was going on, like they do almost every Thursday and Saturday when games overlap, so everyone has the chance to see all 40 minutes...instead, they ran a ticker at the bottom of the screen that the OVC Championship was on the freaking ESPN...app!!! WTF?!?!?! Relegated to the app?! Really?! I know it's just OVC, and it's only Austin Peay/UT-Martin, but c'mon, man...it's the principle of the thing...

...and yes, I would have been willing to have fought for the TV at the bar. I've mixed it up for far less over the years. Principles are principles. Sometimes you have to teach people that the hard way.

Don't worry, nitt, I gave the guy a swift throat punch no he was done, then I took his wife in the back and ####e her potion-style.

Harvard beats Princeton on 2 free throws from a suspect foul call, the. Princeton botches the final possession.

the best Princeton can do is tie Yale now, and if Yale wins their final game, they make the tourney for the first time since 1962.
Yale clinches it. Second team to qualify, I think, after austin peay.

Wow. Well, he's played himself into a damned fine college player. I missed today's game, and a glance at the box score shows he didn't have a stellar outing, but good for him. He'd be hated all to hell if he played for Duke.

Jesus, did WSU really go 2-24 from 3? That's Marylandesque.

Welcome to the Dance, Austin-Peay. Your OVC ticket has been punched! Congratulations are due. Enjoy the moment...you're going to be the victim of an epic slaughter in about 11 days...

Why do I feel Championship Sunday is a new thing? I don't remember there being championship games here in past years, and thought there were more on Saturday.

More importantly, when does UMKC play? And why couldn't I find Kangaroos gear anywhere when I was out there?

UMKC (WAC #5) plays Utah Valley (WAC #4) on Thursday at 2:00 pm Vegas time.  Winner plays New Mexico State (WAC #1) at 6:00 on Friday.  WAC Championship game is Saturday 8:00 pm on ESPNU.

There's so much demand for Royals, Chiefs, Sporting KC, KU, Mizzou, K-State gear, UMKC gets left behind.  If you come through town again, I recommend hitting up the UMKC campus directly; it borders the Country Club Plaza and Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, at least one of which should be on your to-do list next time you're in KC.

Northern Iowa keeping it alive, going to OT!
And the next day they win at the buzzer!  UNI gets the MVC auto-bid, probably a 12-seed.  Wichita probably sneaks in as one of the last at-larges, 10-seed at best.

Suddenly UNC's loss to Northern Iowa is elevated from head-scratching negative to an asset in OOC schedule strength, early season road loss to mid-major Tournament team that finished 9-1.

The assistant director of the UMKC bookstore is a friend of mine.  No shtick.

Western Kentucky beats North Texas for the C-USA bid.  Thought they were a football school!

Utah State (15-14) leads Wyoming (14-17) in the Mountain West final :X

The BracketMatrix contributors seem to be in agreement that three of the 1-seeds are Kansas, Villanova, and Virginia.

Also agree on a second tier of Oklahoma, Michigan State, North Carolina, Oregon, and Xavier.

Who's the fourth 1-seed from that list?

Oregon is highest in RPI, Michigan State tops in KenPom, Oklahoma the most wins against top-level competition, North Carolina won the toughest conference, Xavier played a really tough nonconference schedule.  Who ya got?

I think any of them make sense.

Wondering how people feel about Miami? Pending the bracket, I think I may be moving them into the Final Four. They only have one loss, I think, that seems super puzzling (Northeastern early).

Miami has a coach who has seen everything at the midmajor and power conference level, and their playing time is dominated by a bunch of grown-### men, 23- and 24-year-old seniors who had transfer or redshirt years.  They may not have the continuity Oklahoma has, but just about all their contributors played a lot for them last year.  It's the profile of a team unlikely to get knocked out in the first weekend, which of course sets up nicely for later in the tournament.
