Ugh here come the doosh bags. That was a really good team that lost to another really good team.
wait one second. Youve been touting kentucky sucks for weeks now.
Yup. They haven't been this good all year. I'm not some mouth breather who can't see a team getting better.
I asked you specifically if you'd been watching Kentucky of late and you poo poo'd them taking Florida to down to one point. I gave you an out and you made it very clear that you couldn't see a team getting better.
:lmao: I don't give two ####s about any of your "outs".
Boo Hoo...you made a prediction and it didn't work out. But instead of just owning it like a man, you try to back out and say you knew Kentucky was "a team getting better."

Sorry...but that doesn't fly. I point blank asked you if you saw them lately and you doubled up on your ignorant claim.

Now, you're trying to come swooping in like you saw this coming and were reasonable at any point in discussing Kentucky during this tournament.

When...again...all you had to do was say, "Yea...made a bad call...carry on."

Gotta give you props for continuing to double up on acting like a d-bag about it.

What's the best game of the tournament so far? Lots of good candidates. As a Badger homer I'd say Wisconsin v Oregon but Thursday and Friday were pretty awesome.

Wichita St vs Kentucky was one of the best games I've seen in years.

So many good ones with great storylines. UK/WSU living up to the hype after all the buildup. St Louis hack-a-pack miracle comeback. SF Austin 4-point play to tie it when all hope was lost. North Dakota State with a freshman entering the game for the first time after their best player had fouled out in the last minute after and scoring on two straight possessions to win it.

There's been so many I can't even remember them all.

UK/WS is the best college game I've seen since Duke/Butler. There have been other good games for sure, but this one was two good teams playing well and not just two teams playing well against each other. The only team the Shockers couldn't beat today was UK, otherwise they were fantastic.

Carlin Dupree. My wife is a social worker at his high school. Really good kid in a school of aholes. We were pretty excited when he got in.

Good call on your last statement. Almost too many to list

The highest quality of play I've seen is Wichita State/Kentucky.Greatly enjoyed the pace and execution in Iowa State/North Carolina.

Outstanding Cinderella moments in Duke/Mercer and Oklahoma/NDSU.

Epic meltdown in St. Louis/NC State.

I'll echo what FreeBaGeL said about there being so many great games.... the game that ended on an actual buzzer-beater, Texas/Arizona State, isn't under consideration for best game of the weekend.

Put me down for Wichita State/Kentucky. Even though I didn't like the game result very much, the game itself was fantastic.

wow great job admitting theyre good after the fact
Yea I'm sure your half inbred ### has a perfect bracket.
:lmao:

Some good games next week. MY RANKINGS:

1. Louisville - Kentucky

2. Virginia - Michigan State

3. Florida - UCLA

4. Wisconsin - Baylor

5. Iowa State - UConn

6. Michigan - Tennessee

7. Arizona - SDSU

8. Stanford - Dayton
Louisville-Kentucky looks great because of the rivalry. I just think Louisville is going to take care of business and it will not be that great of a game. I like the MSU-Virginia game to be the most entertaining. Florida and UCLA will also be some very good basketball.

I actually did say "have to give Kentucky credit" at the end of the game, but please, carry on. It's hilarious.

Kentucky handled them relatively easily during the season. I think UK's size will give Louisville a ton of problems. If the big guards do a good job of looking over and passing over the press instead of trying to dribble through it, UK will roll. How the game is officiated will also have a huge impact (like the UL/WSU game last year).

One factor that worries me as a UK fan is that Hancock was a basket-case during that stretch of the season. He missed several wide open 3's. That's probably not going to happen again, and the Cats have a habit of leaving shooters open from time to time.

Has Creighton ever seen a zone before?
Their shooting should have no trouble with a zone. Perplexing really.

I think Tennessee matches up well with Michigan.
Agree I think Tennessee will give Michigan real problems.
Called it pre tourney that TN upsets MI.

MI fan buddy wanted to wager case of beer on it.

:banned:

I think that'll be the end of the road for TN, but a respectable run all things considered.

Perhaps the thread title should now be changed to say (no UNCheat?) can't wait until the HBO special comes out exposing how dirty that program is!

We get it, you hate UNC. Is there a college basketball related thread you have posted this in?

how's everyone's bracket doing?
Got 13 of the Sweet 16. That WSJ Blindfold Bracket exercise helped me out a lot - got SFA and NDSU on my radar, and convinced me to fade Nova.

My bracket will fade, though. I have the Shockers winning the Midwest - an unlikely event - and Iowa State winning the East - slightly more likely than Wichita but still highly unlikely with Niang out.

"Expected" records by multi-bid conference (based on the seeds teams received and assuming higher seeds win each matchup), compared with actual records:

Not including play-in games.

SEC: Expected 3-2; Actual 6-0 (remaining: Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee)

Pac-10: Expected 6-4; Actual 7-3 (remaining: UCLA, Stanford, Arizona)

ACC: Expected 7-3; Actual 5-5 (remaining: Virginia)

A-10: Expected 3-6; Actual 3-5 (remaining: Dayton)

Big Ten: Expected 7-2; Actual 6-2 (remaining: Michigan State, Wisconsin, Michigan)

MWC: Expected 3-1; Actual 2-1 (remaining: SD State)

Big 12: Expected 7-5; Actual 6-5 (remaining: Iowa State, Baylor)

AAC: Expected 5-3; Actual 5-2 (remaining: UConn, Louisville)

Big East: Expected 4-1; Actual 2-3

WCC: Expected 1-2; Actual 1-2

My only question: Should Tennessee get an "expected win" for beating Mercer, even though the Vols weren't expected to win any games as an 11 seed? Likewise now for 10-seed Stanford vs. 11-seed Dayton. What about Iowa State, whose "ceiling" should have been Sweet 16 but now plays lower-seeded UConn?

Overachievers: SEC "should" have gone 5-3, already 6-0 ... AAC and Big 12 will finish a half-game better than expected, at worst ... Pac-12 is ahead of schedule thanks to Stanford, and will finish ahead unless Arizona loses in the Sweet 16

Underachievers: ACC "should" have gone 9-5, will be 7-5 at best if Virginia reaches FF, thanks to Duke and Syracuse upsets. ... Big East took a big hit with both Villanova and Creighton failing to make the Sweet 16. ... Kansas and Oklahoma losing early hurt the Big 12, but Baylor and Iowa State can make up ground with more "upsets".

Elsewhere: Aside from the Ohio State loss, the Big Ten has taken care of business. Can improve if either Michigan or Wisconsin make FF, but fall if either loses in Sweet 16. ... A-10 can finish no worse than expected, thanks mostly to Dayton, which can improve the record by beating Stanford.

Quick and stupid question from a guy who has never attended an NCAA game before -- if I have tickets for the March 27 "Session 1" in Memphis, I assume my tickets are good for both games that evening -- i.e., the Stanford game (7:15) and the Florida game (9:45)?

TIA

Yes. Session 2 is the Saturday game.

Good question. I think most would rate Tennessee two wins above expectations, but there is some value in recognizing wins as an unexpected favorite. A lot of teams who make deep runs in the Tournament are beneficiaries of early-round upsets.

A good long-run way to look at the numbers is PASE (Performance Against Seed Expectations), which compares team performance to historical averages of teams at that seed line. It doesn't tell isich about one team in one year, but it's an interesting way to evaluate one team or one coach over many years, or a multi-bid conference in a tournament.

On a different topic, can you expound on your expectations for Wiggins in the pros, if possible? (Or maybe just point me to where you've done it elsewhere?)

Make sure to BYOB...I know when Ford Field hosted games in Detroit it was alcohol free

All NCAA tournament events are alcohol-free inside the venue.

The Shaka Smart to Marquette rumors are heating up.
I don't get why Smart would leave VCU now to go to a school like Marquette or Wake Forest if he could of potentially went to UCLA or Minnesota last year.
I agree with you about Westwood but I don't think Dinkytown is a destination job. Tubby Smith couldn't turn that program around and they're definitely on the bottom part of the conference. The Gophers have also certainly had more than their share of scandals over the years.

All signs point to Smart or Howland at Marquette which probably means it'll be somebody completely different.

Marquette just kind of seems like a lateral move. Not knocking MU, by any means. I know they have a highly ranked incoming class, but so does VCU. I hope he stays. Not a VCU fan at all, but I like seeing a coach in this day and age stay with a school to try and turn it into a powerhouse. That's admirable.

I don't see why guys like Smart or Marshall from Wichita State would look to move unless the money is overwhelming. They're set up to get into the tournament just about every year.

Because they aren't going to win a championship there. And, with the NBA rumored to be changing the early entry rules by raising the age limit, it makes it less likely the VCUs and Wichita State's of the world will ever win a championship.
