So just like every year for the past 20 years.I think Duke is incredibly vulnerable to a tournament upset even with Zion.

I disagree. Their weaknesses are clear, but there's good reason only three teams outside the top 10 have been competitive with them this year. And Zion was knocked out against Florida St with Reddish missing the Syracuse game. Which leaves Louisville, a road game 3 days after winning at Virginia. I think the only other semi-exception has been Texas Tech, but watching that game you never really thought Tech could win. They're an offensively challenged Virginia. They are strong enough defensively to keep just about any game close, but they don't have enough weapons to actually beat anyone in the top tier barring something out of the ordinary happening on both ends of the court.I think Duke is incredibly vulnerable to a tournament upset even with Zion.
I don't see how you can come up with that take. Have you watched them this year when everyone is healthy? You realize they have more wins against top 25 teams than anyone?? Sure anyone can win in the NCAA tournament, 1 loss and you're done, but they are far less vulnerable than most teams.I think Duke is incredibly vulnerable to a tournament upset even with Zion.
I mean don't get me wrong, with everyone healthy, they are still the clear favorite IMO with the highest ceiling, but the fact that they are mostly all freshmen with zero previous tournament experience means something. When they've struggled this year, it's been against experienced teams.I disagree. If some combo of Zion, Barrett, and Reddish are out then a lot of teams can beat them. But if all 3 are playing? Not likely. Not before the regional final anyway.
What market was trading at 9eastern?Nike down 1.41% in pre-market trading
Under Armor up 1%
You can see on the charts that the actions started right at the moment the shoe blew out.
http://dribblehandoff.com/stories/evaluating-zions-impactDuke would still be a contender without him too, I think. Not the favorite any more, but I think it just drops them back to roughly equal status with the other 5-6 co-favorites.
That's why he's clearly POTY and #1 pick in the draft. He has as much an impact on defense as he does offense.http://dribblehandoff.com/stories/evaluating-zions-impact
Their numbers without Zion are not very good
I was watching it and then just got up and walked away. Couldn’t take it anymoreThis ending for tennessee lsu is ridiculous. Monitor monitor monitor monitor. Gtfo.
I wish i would have. That should have been an awesome game to watch. Importance, OT, etc.I was watching it and then just got up and walked away. Couldn’t take it anymore
It was awfulThis ending for tennessee lsu is ridiculous. Monitor monitor monitor monitor. Gtfo.
Why? Because he had two obvious fouls to chose from? Stupid play by two Tennessee players there...Yeah. That ref bet on lsu, lol.
What was terrible about the call? Two guys founded the LSU player.I wish i would have. That should have been an awesome game to watch. Importance, OT, etc.
Instead it was crap. Just god awful crap. Only to be decided by a terrible call and yep, one more trip to the monitor to not even add any time.
It was a terrible call. 99 out of 100 times that call is not made at that stage of the game. He swallowed the whistle at the end of the first half on what was also a foul(against LSU), but that's what you do in that circumstance. You don't call a foul 60 ft from the basket that stems from two guys going after a loose ball that is questionable. He called more fouls than the other two refs combined and 2/3 of those were in favor of LSU.What was terrible about the call? Two guys founded the LSU player.
I didn't have a problem with the foul call, but this still has me mystified. The ref told the TV announcing crew that the were resetting at 1.4, then they didn't? Tennessee still got a hell of a look on the last shot, though. I thought it was going in.Lets also talk about how they did not put any extra time on the clock. They said there was going to be 1.4 seconds at end of game, but then left it at .6?
Most disappointing jump ball ever.Holy crap. Watching SMU vs Central Florida. The center for UCF may be the biggest person I've ever seen.
I think they have to win at least 2 of those 3 or (and?) make a deeper-than-usual run in the conference tournament (which for them means making it to Friday)Indiana is in an interesting situation for an at large. 6 Q1 wins and no Q3 or Q4 losses. Wins against Marquette, Louisville, Michigan State, Wisconsin.
But they are 14-14 and projected to lose 2 of their remaining 3 games and one more after that assuming they don’t win conference tournament. The committee has let in a few 15 loss teams but never a 16 or 17 loss team. Their NET ranking is right in the mix with other bubble teams but most bracketologists have them just outside the bubble.
With last night's win they are now 2-12 in their last 14 games. At minimum, they have to win 2 of the next 3. Problem is this will actually lead them to a round one Big 10 game that won't move the needle. Right now they're the 11 or 12 seed, but wins will move them up to a game against Ohio or Minnesota.Indiana is in an interesting situation for an at large. 6 Q1 wins and no Q3 or Q4 losses. It's an epidemic. The crap the officials review on the monitor, and how often they do so, has gotten completely out of hand.Monitor monitor monitor monitor. Gtfo.
Nope. I'd vote that 21 point beat down Louisville gave UNC in Chapel Hill as the biggest upset of the season. Did not see that coming!Did we just see the biggest upset of the season in the Virginia Tech-Duke game last night?
Not the result of course, but the fact that ESPN more than once mentioned that Virginia Tech was also without their best and most important player. Did not see that coming!
I'd say whatever game Cal won. That team is hot garbage. Random, bottom-half mid-major teams on the road should be favored against them.ffmail4me said:Nope. I'd vote that 21 point beat down Louisville gave UNC in Chapel Hill as the biggest upset of the season. Did not see that coming!
So Washington is a no if they don’t win the conference tourney?I'd say whatever game Cal won. That team is hot garbage. Random, bottom-half mid-major teams on the road should be favored against them.
Pac 12 is such a dumpster fire. At this point ten teams could win that tourney and they could be a one bidder. That would be awesome. So Washington is a no if they don’t win the conference tourney?
I hate situations where the replay review actually creates a less equitable call. Like if a ref calls the ball out of bounds on team a. The go to review and you can clearly see the ball was out of bounds on team b, but team a player in reaching for the ball pushes team b player's arm right into the ball. So the original call was actually more "fair".It's an epidemic. The crap the officials review on the monitor, and how often they do so, has gotten completely out of hand.
LSU/TEN & WIS/IND were both complete monitor checking #### shows. I'd rather have zero at all than this nonsense.

They probably should be. That said, if Washington wins a game in the conference tourney they are probably in regardless.Capella said:So Washington is a no if they don’t win the conference tourney?
Seems appropriate that Bobby Hurley coaches at ASU...where they have the free throw distraction shower curtain set-up. It's not exactly a classy thing for a basketball program to endorse.Agreed

No doubt, but would you want that going on at 'your school'? It may be funny, but it kind of makes ASU look like a third rate program.Really? I find it funny.
Fair enough. Good point. No doubt, but would you want that going on at 'your school'? It may be funny, but it kind of makes ASU look like a third rate program.
I personally wish everybody would just stick with the classy huge head photos of crying jordan, bald britney, and the opposing coach. No doubt, but would you want that going on at 'your school'? It may be funny, but it kind of makes ASU look like a third rate program.
Once you get below tier 1 I am all for any sort of hyjinx the crowd wants to deploy. No doubt, but would you want that going on at 'your school'? It may be funny, but it kind of makes ASU look like a third rate program.
Didn’t Belmont beat UNC a while back? Maybe right before Roy returned?Too early to talk about possible cinderellas?
Obviously some of these teams still have to make the tourney, but fun to talk about them at least. Obviously plenty of smaller schools could make some noise and are already respected. Furman, Wofford, Utah St, Murray St, etc.
How about a little deeper than that?
Montana- Basically start 3 seniors and two juniors. Have 5 guys that can shoot the three. They are likely in trouble against any athletic size, but could definitely give smaller teams serious trouble.
UC Irvine- Very good defensive team. They dont score a ton, but they at least have pretty even scoring. As in you aren't going to beat them because you shut down one guy. They also play a lot of guys a lot of minutes so they arent likely to get hurt by foul trouble.
Lipscomb and Belmont- These are very interesting teams and they happened to have played each other twice this year out of conference, which I am not sure I have seen before. Belmont won both games which were decided by a combined 6 points. They are 48th and 50th via kenpom.
Dude, it's awesome.Seems appropriate that Bobby Hurley coaches at ASU...where they have the free throw distraction shower curtain set-up. It's not exactly a classy thing for a basketball program to endorse.
Agreed, but I'm not an ASU fan.Dude, it's awesome.
