The rules of this league are modeled after Chris Harris's deep dynasty league.
League Charter
Starting Lineups are
- 1-2 QB
- 2-3 RB
- 2-4 WR
(pick 7 of the above)
- TE
- DEF
Some details
8-team league with 26-team rosters (not counting 8-spot taxi squad and IR slots)
8-person practice/taxi squad (player on taxi squad only costs 25% of his salary)
IR slots (player on IR only costs 50% of his salary)
1 Transition Tag available per year (similar to franchise tag)
Automatic Player Holdouts (for balance), but not too aggressive or unreasonable.
Rookie Draft - Rook draft picks are traded throughout the year. The rookie draft is a snake draft. All rookie contracts are 3 years, fixed salary by draft position. Contracts can be extended. All drafted rookies may start on the taxi squad. As soon as a player is promoted from the taxi squad, they must remain off the taxi squad.
Veteran Draft - Once per year, usually early September. Auction Draft. All unsigned players are bid upon by all owners using their remaining salary cap space. The salary cap this year is ~$2200. Depending upon the team, owners have anywhere from $200 to $1500 in salary cap room. As you can see, some players lean on multi-year contracts, some lean on shorter contracts so that they can be more aggressive in the veteran draft each year.
Contracts - All players are under contracts. Contracts are 1 to 5 years. All salaries increase 20% per year. The salary cap increases 5% per year. A contract may be extended once and it must be extended while there is greater than 1.0 years left on the contract. If the player enters the final year of the contract, unless that player is tagged with the Transition Tag, that player will become a free agent at the end of that year.
That is a rough and hopefully relatively concise summary of the rules.

The team that you would take over is the "Temporary Ownership #2" team. That team has perhaps the best contract in the league (3 years remaining on Keenen Allen @ basically nothing ($38 in a 2.2k cap league!) with plenty of cap room to play with in the upcoming Veteran draft. We do not have entry fees, although it has been tempting in order to maintain a certain level of commitment and seriousness. However, with the exception of two members that have been replaced since the league inception 3 years ago, that has not been a problem, and I think it is simply a matter of commissioner taking the time to make sure everybody has the information that they need to schedule their time appropriately and to enjoy a serious dynasty league.
We are open to expanding to 10 teams in the future. We would implement an expansion year to go from 8 to 10 teams. However, we are at 8 teams now, which isn't so bad considering it is a 2-QB league where you start 1-2 QB, 2-3 RB, and 2-4 WR each week (pick 7 from those positions) along with TE and Defense. With the need for all players to under contract and the need to account for bye weeks, the 26-position roster suddenly doesn't feel so deep, especially when you are trying your best to develop rookie talent.
The veteran draft is coming up soon in early September.
