need some DEEP defensive back sleepers (1 Viewer)

Dolfan34

Footballguy
need some help with finding some sleepers as my dbs are weak

53 man rosters start 2 each and 2 flex of any ( db, lb, de ).

scoring is ...

ints - 3 pts

fumble recovery - 2 pts

forced fumble - 2 pts

sack - 3 pt (1/2 sack = 1.5 pt)

tackles - 1 pt

assists - .5 pt

passes defended - 1 pt

kick return yard - .025 pt

punt return yard - .05 pt

interception or fumble return yard - .1 pt

my starters

lb - mike peterson, antonio pierce, lance briggs

de - jason taylor, jevon kearse/mario williams

db - ???

my dbs

rodney harrison

fakhir brown

cc brown

daniel bullucks

chris harris

terrence keil

brodney pool

medieu williams

i guess my starters would be harrison and williams. im not all that confident with them. will i be ok rotating with pool, considine and bullucks at the flex? i was one of the worst teams in the league last year as far as db production is concerned and i'm hoping to dump harris, keil and maybe brown and/or brown in hopes to find some solid sleepers. i'm still fairly new to idp, so please excuse me.

Pollard, Page, Bethea and Richard Marshall were rooks last year. Any available? Pollard and Page won't be top point scorers but should be starters this year.

I think that Renaldo Hill is at his top potential so he is a solid DB nothing spectacular but dependable.

Check if Pollard or Page are still out there as already mentioned. They are the starters at KC and both are valuable. Also see if Roman Harper might still be out there. He was injured early and might have been dropped. He has fully recovered from what I've read and showed real talent prior to his knee injury. I think he'll pick up where he left off and have been picking up where I can.

My 2 cents

It might be worthwhile to post a link to your available FA DB list from your league website. Many "deep" sleepers won't come from the top 30 available list -- those are replacement level guys that nobody wanted. The guys returning from injury, due to take over a larger role, etc are often much further down the points rankings.

Very true. Roman Harper and even Archuletta may be options if either was dropped.

What about current year rookies? All rostered already?
all rookie corners are available. the only rookie defensive backs that were drafted was leron landry, brandon meriweather, eric weddle, aaron rouse and sabby piscitelli. a few have been signed via free agency already such as reggie nelson, michael griffen and eric frampton. everybody else is still available.

Jarrad Page is on that list. He's should definitely be rostered. There are at least 20 corners worth watching. Leigh Bodden, Cedric Griffin and Johnathan Joseph are the best bets entering the season probably.Greg Wesley, Brian Russell, Eric Smith and Nate Salley are a few safeties that have interesting upside still. Not much left on the rookie front. I'd keep an eye on Aaron Ross and Chris Houston just in case. And Daymeion Hughes could be huge if and when he earns an every down role.

You won't get a solid fix but if you want sleepers:

Page, Taylor, McFadden, Hayden and Russell (SEA now I believe)

is johnathan joseph or leigh bodden a better option then medeiu williams or brodney pool?

Madieu Williams if healthy should be rostered. Brodney Pool, not sure how he is actually used - he has to contend with Sean Jones.

By all means jump on Williams. Pool will be FS. He and Bodden are a wash IMHO.
i already have williams and pool. i listed my roster in my original post. thats what i meant when i asked if bodden and joseph are really any better options then williams and pool. why have williams and joseph and bodden and pool on your team?

Bodden is a better option than ...cc brownchris harristerrence keilAnd may (probably will?) be better option than Pool ...Does that help?

Usama Young, CB, Saints. New Orleans may have landed another small-school gem. Young, a Kent State product, drew praise from coach Sean Payton after showing up in excellent shape and making good breaks on the ball. He intercepted one pass and broke up several others. Not bad for a guy who didn't get invited to the Scouting Combine.

I know Usama and I know he is going to have an impact. You should see this guy's drive and determination! I was there when Lovie Smith and the Bears coaches worked him out and wow was he impressive! He has very good hands, a great burst and crazy high end speed. I am no scout and I may be biased but I think he will make an impact this year. Just my 2¢.
