The group of friends/family I started playing fantasy sports with was always on Sandbox.com way back when playing fantasy baseball. It was a total points league where you could get 162 games started per fielding position, 162 SP games, and 80 RP games.
You can replicate the hitting on ESPN, but it isn't as easy for pitching. They'll only let you sort by games started (which I believe you would never run out of RP games) or Innings pitched.
What would be the best way?
---
An example of how it used to work.
Say Pujols went 2-4 with 2 dbls, 2 RBIs, and a K. He's score 7 points for that day (2 pts for hits, 4 points on total bases, 2 points on RBIs, and -1 for the K).
Halladay could pitch 7 2/3, get a win, 8 Ks, 4 Hits, 1 Run and would score 36 points (23 for the innings pitched, 10 for the win, 8 for Ks, -4 for the hits, -1 for the run).
Elite hitters ended the year just over 4ppg and Elite SP would be around 22 ppg.
