Davenport looked absolutely spectacular today. What worries me the most is that he'll start getting goal line carries (he had one goal line series today). If he's just going to spell FWP once in a while, that's ok, but if he's the goal line back, that's disasterous. Thoughts?

I'm not too concerned. FWP had the GL carries before the game got out of hand. I believe it was all Verron and Najeh for most of the 2nd half - FWP wasn't even in.

Davenport is a not a danger to steal Willie's GL carries. Willie looked better than Davenport on short yardage duty today.Besides, Davenport should be getting hurt right about..... now.

Davenport didn't look particulary good on the goal line carries he got they gave it to him three times of four inside the five he finally scored on a reviewed play on 4th down.

He did look good on a big run, he also got chased down by a DE on that play. I think he is now the handcuff for Parker over Haynes but I don't think he will be more than a change of pace.

After watching today and last week I am going to trade Gore and go with FWP as my full time #2 back (LT is my #1) I was trying to was playing matchups for them.

The game was totally out of hand...why are you surprised that someone other than the starter got some carries

Davenport didn't have a carry till it was 21 -0 for the Steelers.

0-0 - no carries

7-0 - no carries

14-0 - no carries

21-0 - 1 carry

28-0 - 2 carries

31-7 - 5 carries (3 GL carries)

38-14 - 4 carries

I don't know where the thread is from last year, but I made mention that W. Parker is the new age T. Barber; always questioned but will have some big yardage games with td's sprinkled in. He is starting to become much more consistent.

Bettis always did his best later in the season. Cowher loves the big backs in December. Could be a preview.

Off the top of my head, FWP was on pace for way over 300 carries. Pitt needs someone else to tote the rock if they want to keep willie healthy.

And he will still probably get 300 carries this year.

Everyone panics everytime a running back, other then the "starter" touches the ball.

This issue was even addressed publicly when Cowhler said the were bringing in someone that can take the edge off so that FWP could carry the ball 20 times per game. While this might hurt your ff stats a bit, it will help out in weeks 13, 14, 15 and so on when Willie is still on the field and not sidelined.

Trust me, the Steelers are going to have plenty of goal line attempts this year. There is no reason to panic becuase someone else scored a TD.

Davenport isn't now and never was a goal line back. I think today;s t=performance showsd that.

if you saw the game (which i did).. WFP got all the major carries until this game was out of hand.. Poopie did a nice job late in the game, but I'm not worried

I don't see how any Parker owner could want him carrying the ball 30 times a game. 21 carries is plenty for him when he's got 2 scores and a hundred yards. He needs to stay healthy once those numbers are met.
