Nervously awaiting Andre Johnson's MRI.... (1 Viewer)

This is the worst day of my life.
Really?
It's definitely right up there. When Edge went down a few years ago with his ACL tear it was comparable, but AJ is like my baby and i've loved him since college so his situation hits me harder. It's like losing a child in a way.
Pathetic much?
No doubt! You must not be a parent, if you think that having a multi-million dollar athlete standing on the side line and getting paid while he contemplates which network or advertising firm he must now get paid millions to work for sooner rather than later, is equivilant to losing your child. Either your A) stupid B) over- dramatic or C) really having fun with everyone at the expense of some seriously bad Karma

Per Kubiak:

knee sprain...good and bad news.

fine in a week or 4 weeks, still in an eval process.

doubtful for next week.

concerned and can't answer all the questions right now

Here we go.

AJ has a knee strain. Andre still being evaluated 1 to 4 weeks per coach. Doubtful for next week.

Someone coming on to talk more about the injury. Coach really doesn't sound confident.

Kubiak said Andre Johnson has a knee sprain. Still evaluating time frame. Doubtful for Sunday. No link, just announced at press conference.

From Kubiak's presser-

AJ has knee sprain - no time period set, will know in a few days. Doubtful for next week. No swelling as of right now.

At this point I have to view this as good news. Essentially it is the timeframe that Eli had last week. Fears of the season, then of much of the season, then talk of week to week. Now, I don't necessarily expect AJ back this week, but if 4 weeks is the worst case scenario, I can live with that. Not happy but not crushed, either.

Even as a Jacoby Jones owner I have to say I'm glad to hear this. The Texans are finally getting something going and losing AJ would have been a killer.

No swelling and that's good.

But it doesn't sound like they know what it is (or are ready to tell people what it is) other than a sprain... and that's not real good news...

To clarify that for those who didn't hear it, the coach was not saying it'll be from 1-4 weeks. He was saying they don't know yet. Could be 1 week, could be 4 weeks, could be something else.

Did he say anything about the MRI results? If not, then the "sprain" evaluation is nothing. This means nothing to me unless he said, "the MRI results were negative."

He also said he's unsure who will step up and that's something they'll find out this week (in the context of how his remaining WRs will perform as a group...he said he's been constantly asked this question since preseason as to who is their WR2?)

He said what was reported above. He said the doctor (I assume) is going to tell us more after he's done.

No further information yet on AJ's sprain, but he said someone else will go into more specifics when he's done, so more info yet to come...

Sounds like he'll be out for a few weeks. Worst case scenario, I think he's back by the bye week.
That is definitely worse case scenario....the Texans bye week is week 10.
Yea, Kubiak was being pretty vague with his assessment. Given the organization's history of hiding injuries (Boselli, Davis, Spencer), Kubiak's ambiguous time table leaves cause for concern.

Well I think this is better than the earlier reports that he's out for the year. I can deal with 2-4

weeks..

Hopefully the AJ owner is 0-2 and looking at making some moves, because this is a guy you want on your fantasy team. The injury drops his value, and I say buy low.

Man, this board is great, but after years of being on it, and a lot of newbies the last few years, people get carried away with injuries. AJ is going to be fine (see below). Kubiac clearly means that he is waiting to see how Andre progresses through the week to determine how long. He may play this week, as you read below, noone knows. It may take the week to cure, it may take 4 weeks. I say he is back next week, but I am an optimist. However, here are the facts. The MRI looks to be completed and everything sounds promising

Andre Johnson, who hurt his left knee Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, is doubtful to play for the Texans when the team plays the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday at Reliant Stadium. The Texans had an MRI done on Johnson's knee Monday morning and it revealed a sprain.

"I would say that he is doubtful for that football game," Kubiak said. "We'll know more in the next couple of days. There was no swelling, but there's definitely a sprain there. It's a concern right now."

The initial diagnosis was that Johnson had strained his posterior cruciate ligament. He hurt it during a big hit that followed his last catch — a 10-yard grab - with 11:58 to go in the game.

"He has a knee sprain," Kubiak said. "That's the good news and the bad news. We feel fortunate. Andre is going to be fine. Is he going to be fine in one week? Or is he going to be fine in four weeks? We're still in the evaluation stage. We don't know."

Johnson currently ranks fourth in the league with 262 receiving yards on 14 catches. The next most productive receiver on the team is rookie Jacoby Jones with 33 receiving yards on two catches. Kevin Walter has two catches for 17 yards.

If Johnson can't go on Sunday, Andre' Davis will be activated.

As a Matt Schaub owner, here's hoping AJ starts drinking from the same fountain Eli Manning was drinking from last week.

For those asking how Hou players will do in AJ's absence... the next TWO leading receivers combine for less than 20% of AJ's production. This is a huge hit to Schaub and a big hit to Green imo. Jacoby Jones should benefit for no other reason than SOMEone has to catch the ball.

Looks like Curry gets the start over AJ week 3 vs.......Cleveland.
Wheeewwww, I feel so much better now that I know who you will be starting this week. I was on the edge of my seat wondering which direction you were going to go. Thanks for sharing this.
