Andre Hall is the man? Even though he went undrafted? He has the skills to be what? You saw this how? Who else saw this?

Good stuff as always.

Bloom: eyes to cam, chin down baby. We're your friends.

Laurent Robinson or Tedd Ginn or Chris Chanmbers in a dynasty league? What you got?

Thanks. I always enjoy the video. One last dynasty question for you Bloom... (I am looking for next year/homerun players)Laurent Robinson as a potential #1 on a bad QB team, or Chris Henry as a not sure he will be back #3 on a great passing team? This is one is very tough for me.

I respect Tom Casale from Patriots.com. Here's what he had to say about Hall before the 2006 draft.link

Andre Hall, South Florida – At 5-9, 208 pounds, Hall is another one of those smaller runners who some think may not be big enough to be an every-down back for an NFL team. However, I think Hall could end up being the steal of this year’s draft. He has a lot of interesting physical qualities that should make Hall a very productive player at the pro level. I said last week that Darnell Bing was the overrated prospect in this draft but on the other end of the spectrum, Hall may be the most underrated player.

Hall was a junior college transfer and in only two seasons with South Florida he rushed for 2,731 yards and 24 touchdowns. He’s an interesting prospect because while he looks small on tape, he doesn’t play small. Hall is an elusive, slippery runner but he also showed on many occasions that he has no problem putting his head down and running over defenders. He has that Emmitt Smith-style to him where he runs low to the ground and can use that low center of gravity to break tackles. Hall is very difficult to get down for his size and he’s also an effective short-yardage runner.

The former Bull is another one of those backs that doesn’t have blazing speed but he showed no problems getting to the outside or breaking long runs in college, and that was against pretty good competition. He also shows good patience in the backfield, letting his blocks develop before kicking into an extra gear to get through the hole. Hall has a great spin move and is an explosive runner in the open field.

Hall needs work on his blocking but he has excellent hands and his ability to catch the football should help his stock on draft day. There are a lot of the 5-9, 200-pound kind of backs in this draft but if I had to put my money on one of them becoming a feature back in the NFL, I would chose Hall. Like I said, when you watch him he doesn’t look that big but Hall plays a lot bigger once he gets the ball in his hands.

I think Hall is the most intriguing prospect at the running back position. The more I see of him, the more I like. If New England selects Hall, Patriots fans should be very happy with the pick. They may have a future stud running back on their hands.

6. Andre Hall, South Florida – The steal of the draft at the running back position. Isn’t huge but looks and plays bigger than his listed weight. Reminded me of Emmitt Smith when I watched him on tape. Played two years at South Florida and recorded 2,731 rushing yards and 27 total touchdowns. A big-time sleeper.
Hall was almost universally projected as a 3rd/4th round pick. His physical talent and game tape merited that level pick. He had a problem that was described to me as "just not understanding what it took to make it in the NFL" that likely caused him to fall out of the draft and get cut twice before settling in Denver. One Broncos source I talked to while I was at the Broncos/Cowboys joint practices in the preseason told me that he believed they were grooming Hall to possibly replace Henry down the line. He is no ordinary undrafted RB - there are always exceptions, and Hall has the ability to defy his undrafted twice cut status and become the latest.

I have Henry higher because he's more likely to help this year (once he comes back) - Henry also has outstanding upside if Housh/85 get hurt, but he also has the risk of a character implosion at any time. Robinson is a safer, but without quite the upside of the offense/QB. Swinging for the fences, or for a double?

Andre Hall is the man? Yes Even though he went undrafted? Yes. Willie Parker, Priest Holmes, Dominic Rhodes - doesn't mean as much now to be undrafted. He has the skills to be what? A top NFL RB, especially in Denver. You saw this how? College tape, up close and personal at Broncos training camp and practice during the year. Remember, he's been with the Broncos for over 1 year now. Who else saw this? Mike Shanahan, and several reporters/beat writers that were out at camp that have a serious eye for talent including Chris Mortensen.
answers in boldBloom mentioned it, there are several sources that feel the Broncos are grooming Hall - not Young - to be the feature back.

I grabbed this guy a while ago - heck Young's been gone in most leagues for weeks - Hall's still around and has as good a chance as anyone if Henry (is it when? is the glass half full or empty?) takes a time out for his alleged puffing. The mere fact - as Cec - pointed out above - that he went undrafted doesn't mean he doesn't have talent.

I already picked him up last week, so this sounds great. But why is Young ahead of him now??

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAndre Hall! :bye:

Thanks for the info - good show. Appreciated the insight on Lemon - didn't get to see the Miami game last weekend.

that is up in the air, but I believe it's because Andre needed to work on his pass protection earlier in the year.

Young has looked great and he fights for the extra yard, and he seems to have great vision and burst. He also has the pedigree over Hall. Wasn't he the most highly recruited RB in the nation when he signed with Texas? He did have injury problems, so a lot of teams forgot about him. Now Cedric Cobbs was also the top RB entering college, and we all know how that turned out, so it's no guarantee Young will succeed either, but something tells me he's ahead of Hall for more than blocking.

Gents, please accept my compliments on another fine segment. Love the postivism and energy but most importantly, the info and tips that has given me the edge in my league thus far since subscribing to your website.

I know I may be rubbing some nerves raw with the following query since it would most likely belong in another forum but I gotta go directly to the fantasy experts for a no-nonsense answer;

I have Travis Henry and I'll ride him till he's suspended or injured. I have Selvin on my bench for such an occurance but if I go by your insight and analysis, would it be wise to presently drop Young and stash Hall on my roster by the end of the night? Due to roster limitations, I must make this decision. I am tempted to follow your advice when the waiver wire priority goes into effect in my league at 11:45 p.m. tonight.

thanks in advance.

P.S. I apologize if the post may not be proper for one dedicated to the 5 Minute Drill but I am sure that I am not the only one in this type of position.

I have a better idea for you. Trade Selvin for something of value as most really like him, and then pick up Hall.

I like that call. Selvin is still technically the "first in line", and if your roster sizes are that strict that you have no one else you can drop to pick up Hall, you can probably wait to pick up Hall. I feel that the team will give Young more work at first once Henry is suspended, but he will eventually get hurt or get outplayed by Hall - so Hall is the better long term play imo, although that change might take until week 12-13 if Henry can ride this out until sometime in November as Schefter has suggested, so the safe play is probably still Young, although Id be looking for a way to have both.

:popcorn:I love this idea. Maybe package Selvin and Travis together and get something really big.

That Denver situation is really turning into a mess. As an Henry owner, I'm already burning 3 roster spots to try and make sure I had my #1 pick protected. Now you guys are telling me I should find a way to roster a fourth? I think....I'm going.....to kill you. :)

My biggest concern about picking up yet another Denver runner is that now they're starting to lose guys on the OL. Who replaces Nalen and how much will that effect continuity?

And what about Sapp/Bell? No chance of either of them pulling a Mike Anderson? I assume that Cec and Sig aren't that enamoured with either, given the love for Hall, but I'm having a real hard time pulling that trigger to cut Sapp loose. Skeletor is Skeletor, after all.

I think you can pretty much count Bell out for now. Sapp is the toughest runner of the 3, and could get a short yardage role regardless of who carries on 1st and 2nd down. He's also a good enough runner to be a viable option if they do turn to him. Definitely worth rostering unless roster spots are a premium.

I think this is why I have always been down on DEN RBs a bit...seems like this situation happens a good bit with them :kicksrock: Or it could just be a personal grudge

Typically, I'm right there with you. I haven't touched a Denver back in a draft since the Portis days.(Though I DID benefit from Mike Anderson as a FA the year he got put in there.) My wagon's hitched to it this year, unfortunately, and Henry's kicking me right in the nuts.

For the sake of the argument, Sig, let's say that roster spots ARE at a premium. Would you pick up Hall over Sapp now? Or roll the dice on Hall another few weeks to get past the week 6-8 byes and to see if Sapp is in any way being looked at as a replacement for Henry short term? I already have made up my mind what I'm doing, I just want to see what some others may do in a similar situation.

Andre Hall?

Sorry, not buying it. Denver hasn't been punching anything in the end zone as of yet and it is not likely to improve.

Henry? 1 TD lotsa yards.

Young? No TD's minimal yardage.

Sapp? 1 Vulture TD miniscule yardage.

Hall? Nothing at all.

Sorry, not buying it.

Hey ScoobyDoo,That's cool, man, we just put it out there. It's up to you to consider if any fantasy advice is right for you. Our main point on Hall is that, of all the guys available on your waiver wire right now, he might be the only one who's truly talented enough to be an every down guy and who also *might* get his shot. So if you were looking to truly roll the dice with a roster slot, he fits the bill. Denver's situation doesn't look good, but a lot can change with 11 games to go...

Sorry to keep this ridiculousness going, but I've got a couple horses in this race and want to prep for the best choices. Given the content of this thread and the 5 Minute Drill, anybody want to comment on why Bloom would have Young ranked above Hall in his October 7 dynasty rankings?

For now, Young has a lot more trade value than Hall - that's the main thing driving that ranking.
