New Cowboys and Colts stadiums (1 Viewer)

Weapon of Mass Instruction

Watch my feet!
Why exactly is the visual so bad at these places? Detroit and other new fields are fine. But in these two it is just completely washed out and drab. This isn't just today and not just on one network. Why so bad?

I love watching the Colts on my new flat panel in HD. The picture is beautiful compared to that big clunky TV I had previously. Also, I went to Lucus Oil for the first time this year and talk about a great place to watch a game, there isn't a bad seat in the house.

Looks great on my Plasma!

Also, I went to a preseason game and a U2 concert at the stadium.

Other than the walk from the parking lot, stadium was AWESOME!

The reason for this is the way sunlight comes into both stadiums, resulting in extreme contrasts of light exposure in the cameras. The so called "holes" in the roofs are the culprits; the area below this (most of the field) are bathed in light, while the covered areas are in dark shadow. This makes the transition from light to dark very difficult for the camera to process. Old Texas stadium was the same way. Annoying. Makes you appreciate night games, though.

 bad seats
Normal people wouldn't bye one of those seats. However, you got me on that one, because I didn't know about those seats. Having said that, let's just say most of the seats in that stadium are great.

Wow... I know some of the old, old stadiums/arenas have seats like this. But seriously, how do you put seats like this in modern stadiums, let alone charge for them?

I heard it's worse in the new Cowboys stadium initially. Not sure they still sell those behind the columns. I bet the Colts will eventually remove those seats behind the columns.

Of course Jerry Jones is not going to let himself be outdone, even when it comes to bad seating.http://deadspin.com/5344216/cowboys-stadiu...this-brick-wall

I understand that the seats in the bathrooms also have a poor view of the field but expect that they have an LCD monitor in there.I doubt that they actually sell the seats behind the columns.

Dallas stadium has only a few of those seats with about 90,000 good seats. I would suggest using one of them.

The best seat to watch a football game is on your couch on a large flat panel high deffer TV. Why pay for tickets to be in a stadium with a bunch of aholes and then have to buy $10 beers, when you could sit on your couch and get a better view and drink $0.50 beers, and use the toilet in 10 seconds during a commercial missing nothing.

For the most part I agree with you, but I do like to go to one game a year, and I want to go to a Super Bowl before I die.

there is a huge atmosphere and enjoyment dif for me with any dome vs outside game . dome games are far less enjoyable than outside field to watch imo. its like being outside on a nice summer day vs sitting in a basement with jungle wallpaper ! i have a new plasma and hd that has great pic . dome games are like a cup of chicked bullion and open fields are like thankgiving dinner + desert ! domes suck ! booo to dome teams !

Lucus Oil is a beautiful stadium, and I especially like it when the roof is OPEN. I too don't like the dome atmosphere, and the new Colts stadium doesn't have a dome feeling when the roof is open.

Living in a town with 2 retractable roof domes, I've been annoyed on more than one occasion by what I felt was great day for an open roof, only to have it closed per the request of an influential player. Cough, Curt Schilling, cough, Kurt Warner. I'm not sure why the Cards even installed the retractable roof. It's closed for all but 1-2 games per year. I wish there was a standard policy ie, if the temperature is 75 or lower, roof is open.

I think the new Lucus Oil stadium is beautiful. The only thing I would change, is the gawd awful Lucuc Oil advertisement. Just isn't the most appealing logo.

My problem with Lucas Oil Stadium is the sideline camera is so far from the field. Even in HD the players are hard to see. No more sideline TV Rigs going up and down the sideline with the close shots.

They need to use the "cable cam" more for tighter shots IMO.

The lighting makes the playing surface look really dark and dull. I prefer the grassy green look.
:goodposting: I have noticed exactly what the OP is talking about when watching games from Lucas Oil Field. Cowboys stadium seems OK :pokey:
I always hated Texas Stadium because of the light issue. Back in the day before HD it was horrible. The picture would go from way to bright to pitch black. You could see the producers trying to adjust the contrast in mid-play. The new stadiums in Dallas and Indy are just as bad. You would think the networks would have told them how bad the picture looks. I can't stand watching games from these stadiums, got that Godell. Do not let any more stadiums be built like this.

the rams and vikings stadiums look the worst on my tv . of the domes arizona looks by far the best on my setup .

They should mount a big LCD to the columns.

Actually they did sell those seats early on. Not sure if they're still doing it.
Really? I didn't see that story. Can you link it?
