This is a new Dynasty start up draft, PPR, vets only. Rookie draft to follow the NFL draft.Thought some might have one coming up and be interested. this is the first 9 rounds, I can post more if anyone is actually interested.Youth was definitely the flavor here...

Was this a serious draft?I can see about 6 picks that are just horrible.
Just for the purpose of discussion which six picks were horrible
Probably all of mine :goodposting: I don't know that I think any of these picks are horrible but I do think they are a little off from what I was expecting. There were some reaches but we all know that in a dynasty this may be the only chance you will have to aquire a certain player. You like a guy, you probably have to reach a bit. Or risk losing him and ending up with a safer guy you don't like as much. Risk/reward thing I guess. As i said, I was not expecting some players to go as high, and then of course that means others fall. I just thought it might be interesting for people to see what this 12 guys felt about it...

Drunk Not Stupid drafted a little off the normal path, but very well. I would have taken Jones-Drew in the 2nd round, instead of Chad Johnson, but otherwise nice. The upside with the WR's early is that you have set that position for years to come. WR's have greater longevity than RB's.

The PPR rule equalizes the RB's points with the WR points to a great extent. The best RB's tend to score more than the best WR's, but there is a quicker drop-off in the RB's than there is in the WR's. The downside on the WR's is the variation in scoring from one week to the next. RB's tend to score more toward the mean every week, while WR's run hot and cold.

But it is easier to pick up an WR during the season that you can start than pick up a RB since most teams run 3 WR sets.

I agree on Randy Moss and Brandon Marshall, but the rest are legitimate where they were drafted. Travis Henry and Thomas Jones should be good for two to three years. Colston has risk, but he did set the world on fire last year. I might draft differently, but the draft seems pretty tight overall. Nothing wildly stupid or crazy.

This really depends on the size of the rosters and how good your opposition is. The leagues I am in, QB's and TE's are the only types that seem to be available on the waiver. Every team is circling for an opportunity to grab a WR or RB off waivers.

Young was drafted with ML still available.Travis Henry is playing for Denver which means if he fumbles one time or wears the wrong color socks on Tuesday he might be riding the bench that week because of Skeletor.Thomas Jones - If he was so good why did Arizona, Tampa and then Chicago let him go? I think his success had more to do with the Bears OL than his ability as a RB - also 29 years old when the season starts. Marques Colston - A guy has one good year and you want to draft him in a dynasty in the third round when other qualified vets are available.

I'm not sure who ML is, but Young looks scary good. I'm not saying that is where I would draft him, since I tend to wait on QB's, but he is legitimate if you are looking at upside and trying to hit a homerun.

I don't like Travis Henry, but he is starting on Denver. RB choices start to run thin in the mid-second round.

Thomas Jones looked great in Chicago and Tampa. He broke my heart in Arizona. I like his receiving ability and the offense he will be playing in.

Colston is all about upside. If he hits this next year, he is a steal in the third round. I would have drafted him early fourth round, but nothing way off from where he went.

That's me, I was planning to go RB heavy before the draft but when Brown and Bush and Westy went I didn't like the options left. Rather than reach for a RB I didn't like I grabbed Fitz. 24 year old Fitz I might add. He could be top 10 long after this league has folded...I am not a true believer in MJD yet. He looked great last year, but I would need to see him prove a bit more before I bet my dynasty future on him. I almost went Alexander but then said screw it, let's take a shot. I was hoping for a RB to fall to me at 3.11/4.02 but it didn't happen so I went BPA again, I like Walker, think he'll be solid. I reached for Lendale, felt I had to get a RB there. There were safer options but I went for the fence. I draft 1.02 in the rookie draft so chances are I add Lynch, then I draft 1.08 where I'll be looking to add Irons/Bush/Jackson/Pittman etc. Whoever falls. I know it's risky but I locked up my WRs and my TEs, I took a gamble at QB and I'll need to get lucky at RB but if it happens I look good for a few years, if not, I try for another RB or 2 next year...

I put Henry/Jones in the category of being on the high end of thier value, but if an owner gets RB paranoia he will make that selection. Randy Moss is a boom or bust risk, but if he has his head straight and some sort of health (neither monir issues) he is still capable being a top 5 WR, so I am ok there.Young probably a little early, but if you are in love with him do you risk him coming back at 5.10.Colston is not a safe pick there, but I don't think it unreasonable.Marshall appears to be a couple of rounds too high.Honestly, I think Alexander is good value at that spot. I only really try to think two maybe three years at RB and he is still capable of RB1 performance at RB2 price for a couple of years.

Please expound to us this logical error.Even in PPR scoring the number of WRs with significant playing time is far greater than the number of RBs with significant playing time.

I've found the RB's get hurt more than WR's so there is more turnover and more guys coming from nowhere every year that get their chance to step in and get touches. The list goes on and on. I'm sure you can come up with names that fit this but if you need me to I will. Also there are a number of 3rd down backs and fullbacks that get receptions and an occasional TD that can be picked up and played for one week. Mike Sellars, Cecil Sapp, Richie Anderson, Patrick PassThese guys to me are more available/reliable than the WR's that are available for a one game play in a Dynstay format where any and all prosepects that have a legitimate shot for playing time or development are rostered by owners looking for the sure thing.

I have found the opposite is true. Many times there are new WRs getting chances for additional playing time than RB's since very few teams run a basic offense with more than one RB on the field at the same time. (FB excluded). The case seems to be that three WRs sets are the norm.

I guess we play in different size dynsaty leagues then b/c in my leagues there are lat least 3 WR's from every team owned and 4 in most cases.

In most dynasty formats this is incorrect logic esp in ppr.

Mike Sellars, Cecil Sapp, Richie Anderson, Patrick Pass

These guys to me are more available/reliable than the WR's that are available for a one game play in a Dynstay format where any and all prosepects that have a legitimate shot for playing time or development are rostered by owners looking for the sure thing.

Maybe.12 team dynasty 25 player roosters - PPR (1/2 for RB, 1 for WE/TE)

Standard scoring otherwise.

I like BIG FISH's first 6 picks, but I wish they would have grabbed Gonzo instead of Lewis.
I was thinking the same thing but I was gonna say first five. He definitely should have grabbed himself one of the top tier TE's in the 6th or 7th. I dont like his team for the future but for this year he looks good. Mostly because he got Alexander late in the second. On that not I thought Shaun was picked pretty late, and that is coming from someone who just unloaded him in dynasty. I also thought Ronnie Brown was a little early, personally I would NEVER have taken him over Maroney or Westbrook for that matter and I'm not even a Westbrook fan but maybe thats just me

I liked everything up to Rhodes, which I thought was overkill at RB and should have been a TE or QB. I didn't mind Lewis since RB's always have value, but I would have gone with Gonzo or Hasselbeck.

This is the 2nd New Dynasty Draft where V.Young goes off as the #3 QB.
as the guy who drafted him at 4.03 (Literally Possessed), I'll explain:I didn't pick again until 5.10. I wanted VY as my franchise QB. I like the guy. I was pretty sure he would not be there at 5.10. Did I overpay? Perhaps. Am I happy about it? You bet. I also took Brandon Marshall in the 6th. I had just made a trade for that pick (essentially traded the rookie 1.3 for Gates and that pick, although we moved a bit on later picks too.) I felt that since I gave up a shot at a promising receiver in C Johnson, I took another one. I liked that rookie - rookie chemestry he seemed to have with Cutler. Cutler will be there a long time. So will B Marshall. I very much doubt I will regret this pick. Were there better on the board? Yup. Again, am I happy about it? Yup. And to answer the inevitable "can I join your league" - nope. :porked:

I like the first four rounds of Literally posesed's draft. Built for the present and beyond
Thanks! I tried to get the best of both present and future value. It meant passing on guys like SA at 2.03 and taking MJD instead, but I'm happy with it. I ended up making a mistake and paying for it, though. I wanted Cotchery in the 6th. I should have drafted Cotchery in the 6th. I really like him, plus I am a Jets homer (which tends to cloud my vision at times.)But do I draft Cotch? Nope, at the last second, I said "don't let the homer thing cloud your vision" and I choose Chris Chambers. Lots of guys will say I did better. But I hated it. Hated it. Hated it. Wanted a mulligan right away. I was pissed. You ever do that? It sucks, doesn't it? I fixed it, though. Ended up trading CC and Evans for Reggie Brown (who I really like) and Cotch. Kinda got the short end of that stick (a little - I think Brown will have a very nice year, and I'm not sold on that Buffalo QB situation), but I'll sleep better. I love this hobby. I really do. :pickle:

Crenshaw Gangbangers totally had me:

LaDanian Tomlinson

Peyton Manning

Reggie Wayne

And then totally lost me:

Ladell Betts

Randy Moss

Jake Cutler

Vincent Jackson

I don't mind grabbing Manning in the 2nd, but when L.Betts becomes your #2 RB, you don't have the flexibility to reach for a 2nd QB.

I can't agree more with this. It's easy to sit back and critique a draft you have nothing invested in. But when you are drafting, and there is a guy you want, you have to ask yourself; 'Will he be there when I pick again?'If the answer is maybe, you have a big decision to make. If the player you are after turns out to be a star the 'cost' of reaching for him in a draft will be a lot cheaper than aquiring him from another owner after he explodes.Personally, I have a lot of respect for people that legitimately reach for a player they truly believe in. Takes a lot more guts to do that than to read off the next name on a cheat sheet. And I can tell you from personal experience that it's a great feeling watching a player you reached on earn that spot.

Real solid squad there. He'll have to add some WRs, but he's off to a good start. The first four picks are proven stars. I personally would have had a little trouble taking Barber that high, but he has the potential to justify it if he ever becomes a starter. The presence of Rudi and Westbrook on the roster means he can probably afford to be patient. Holmes is looking like a quality value this year.
