The Patriots have been pimping this shtick of their's for a few seasons now where they want 'smart' football playes, whatever that means. However, how many University of Miami players have they had on their roster over the past few seasons? I know they drafted Wilfork, but how many other smart football players have they got from the U?

I don't know about other years, but the only other Miami players listed on their roster are CB Duane Starks and DT Santonio Thomas.

Don't confuse overall intelligence with football intelligence.I would find it hard to believe that any NFL team is out there looking for stupid players.

Actually the big thing the Pats are looking for are committed football players. They want guys who have football as their first priority. They don't want guys that don't have a passion for football. These guys usually tend to be semi-intelligent as far as football goes because of their committment/work ethic to football. If they're not very intelligent they are usually very coachable. If you really want to understand how the BB Pats operate read Michael Holley's "Patriot Reign." It's a great read. If you really want to know how BB ticks read David Halberstam's "The Education Of A Coach."

What is the point of this thread?
I was wondering the same thing. Seems the onion is fixated on the Pats.
Spelling it out...I am indirectly throwing the Hurricane players under the bus for not being 'smart' football players. But it may not be warranted.
