New England Wide Receivers (1 Viewer)

With Deion Branch looking like he really could be gone out of New England, that leaves the WR situation pretty up in the air.

The problem is that there's nothing that indicates any of these guys could be standouts. I think it's safe to say the Top 4 receivers in NE are:

1) Reche Caldwell

2) Troy Brown

3) Chad Jackson

4) Bam Childress

Playing with Brady has to make at least one, if not more of these guys a late round flier just because of the numbers Brady SHOULD put up, but which guy has the most potential to put up a decent season?

The more I look at it, the more I'm starting to believe Troy Brown could be Brady's guy this year as far as getting the lion's share of WR production.

Thoughts?

Draft Watson. Take a flier on Caldwell in the last couple of rounds if you're feeelin' lucky. That's about it.
I agree about Watson. He has WR skills and will either be covered by smaller D-backs or slower linebackers. Other than Watson, Caldwell is your best bet.

I've been pimping Troy Brown. He's the only one with any experience in the Patriots system. The last time the Pats had very little WR depth was 2001 when Brown had 100/1200/5. I doubt he will approach that but he will be a security blanket and knows all the plays.

:goodposting: Those were my thoughts in the Branch trade thread. Brady will feel comfortable with Troy Brown.

It looks like Brown is almost a lock to be the starting WR beside Caldwell to start the season with Jackson nicked up and looking very unimpressive so far. I think he'd struggle to match his yardage and receptions totals from his career year, but with Brady at the helm, I think he could conceivably put up somewhere around 800 yards and see a boost in TD catches notching somewhere between 7-9. Caldwell is still an unknown quantity at this point. The guy could step in as Brady's #1 or he could be a complete bust. We do know that Brown has played with Brady the longest of anyone, he's had success with him in the past, and when it gets down to the clutch, I think that means he could be looking Brown's way.
