New Idea redraft league looking for owners (1 Viewer)

For those that know me...I am known for coming up with things that are a little different. In this case I have created the Forced Trade League.

It is called this because after each week of the regular season the winner of each game will get to make a trade with the loser of their choice. There are restrictions however to prevent teams from getting totally decimated. You can only trade for players drafted in the same round and after the trade is announced, the losing team will be able to protect a player for the next round. This is done to keep things competive as much as possible.

Scoring for this league can be found here, scoring. nothing crazy here, it is a ppr league with 2 flex spots...TE's get extra value. This league also utilizes Victory Point scoring during the regular season for standing purposes.

The regular season will be 11 weeks, everybody plays everyone else 1 time.Playoffs run from week 12-week 16

This league will cost $50, prizes will go to the regular season top 2 teams, the 2 teams that fight for the championship, plus as you win playoff games you earn money. All revenue goes to prizes - league site fee of course. I also must mention that leaguesafe is not an option for me and can only accept paypal. This is because I live in Japan.

As always I will answer any questions you may have...I can be contacted at raymanning@hotmail.com

Hello, Ray.I applaud your initiative as anything new is worth messing with. I don't know you but I immediately recognize the kinship thing when I see it.

1) If you want to "keep things competitive" you need to consider having the trade in favor of the loosing team. Having the winning team making the deal is not conducive to competition.

2) The idea of "to trade" is it's a free will deal. You offer, I accept, reject, or counter. In your scenario, it looks like it's a "get to" deal, as in ".....I think I wanna GET that guy right there." Not an offer, acceptance or counter.....it's a "to get" (with some restrictions).

3) The idea of "protecting a player for the next round" sounds like it's a waiver process....not a trade process.

If the loosing team get's the gravy, per my suggestion, then a winning team protecting another player doesn't work. The idea of keeping the thing competitive is golden but you need to decimate the winners, not the losers, to accomplish this goal.

Also, it's sounding like it has more than one player/team involved/week. What's worth considering, also.

And, I'd like to take this opportunity to send you an invite to the IMAGINARY FANTASY fOOTBALL EXTRAVANGAZA LEAGUE. If you're into alternate and parallel Leagues, this is right up your alley.

Just check out your email box as the invite is swimmin' now.

I originally thought about having the loser decide the trade, however I ultimately decided the winner should not be punished for doing what he is supposed to do. I added in the rule of trading for players in the same round as a way to prevent the losing team from being totally destroyed. For example lets say I have AP and my opponent has Lesean Mccoy, both round 1 picks. He wins. then decides he wants AP, to get him he must give me McCoy. There will also be rules preventing the trading of injured players. Obviously therewill be some teams that lose out, but that is true in all leagues...I just hope enough owners feel that this is an interesting challenge they are willing to take on.

As for the protect player question...using my example I just lost week 1 and I see my opponent next week has a bad qb and I have a much better one...so I feel that it is my qb he mostly covets. I then protect my qb in the off chance I lose the game. If I lose I will get to protect 2 players for the next round. All protections go away once I win. I do realize this helps teams that play teams after a win, but it is equally important to help the losers out some.

I understand some are fearing that early wins will really help a team out. To help minimize this I will set the schedule so that teams are playing teams that drafted close to them early in our season. I also look at this league as a league that should have increased normal trading as well. For example I lose a game and get an extra wr I don't really need, but he is a solid WR. I then go out and trade him for a player that will help me more...normally trading is allowed between the forced trade and kickoff each week.

email me if you are even remotely interested ....details are still being worked out and the more minds the better.

I have had a couple people say they are interested, but that is not nearly enough...if I run this as a basically a free league (we all just chip in for the site) would you be interested? If so email me at raymanning@hotmail.com

Your concept sounds interesting to explore, but why would someone pitch in money to run a free league with experimental rules?
