New IDP Redraft League, intra-board FBG vs Huddle (1 Viewer)

Rovers

Footballguy
I am thinking about stating another FBG vs. the Huddle IDP league, based on the Dynasty Wars rule set used in the three very successful intra-board Dynasty Wars leagues, but in a redraft format rather than a dynasty format.

Spread Offense: 1RB, 3 or 4 WR and 1 or 2 TE flex, 1K, 3DL, 3LB, 3DB

Pro Set: 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 3DL, 3LB, 3DB

Wishbone: 1QB, 3RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1K, 3DL, 3LB, 3DB

League Scoring

Event......................... Points............... Event............................... Points

20 yards passing--- -----1..................10 yards rushing/receiving----- 1

TD pass------------------ 4 ...................Interception --------------------3

Rushing/Receiving TD---6 ...................Reception ----------------------0.5

Fumble--------------------2 ...............2 pt reception/run/pass---------- 2

Field goal--------3,(1-39) 4,(40-49) or 5(50-100)

Extra point----------------1 ................Defensive TD----------------------6

Tackle --------------------2...................Asst tackle -----------------------1

Sack ----------------------3.................Fumble recovery ------------------2

Forced Fumble -----------3..................Interception -----------------------3

Safety --------------------4.................Pass defended ---------------------1.5

Forced Fumble------------3..................Fumble Recovery (from opp.)----2

Blocked Punts----------2---------------Blocked FG-------------------------3

Any TD by a Starter----- 6--(no return yardage, but any TD in any capacity by a starter-----6)

I am gauging interest at this point, 12 teams would be the minimum, 16 would be better, in a two conference playoff format. Dues would be $50. 100% payout after MFL costs. The DW leagues are a lot of fun, but the same basic system in a redraft would also make for a good league too I think. If you are interested, please post here.

Obviously, this is a first pass, and scoring, dues, number of playoff births, byes, line up requirements, prize money allocations etc would all be up for discussion as potentially interested owners post in this thread. I am not set on being commish, even a commish vote would be fine, but I would be happy to commish the league with another co-commish.

Many IDP leagues are in the dynasty format, which are fun, but often the new openings are for rosters that are in sorry shape. This league would be ideal for the experienced FF player who wants to get started in an IDP format, but wants a chance to win in year one, often not doable in a dynasty format. It isn't an IDP rookie league however, as there will be plenty of experienced IDP players in it as well.

Interest level is already high on day one since I posted this at the Huddle, and I am sure it will be a full 16 team league by draft time, likely much sooner than that. Day one, and I have 4 owners already. If interested, post here, PM, or at the Huddle at

Merry Christmas!

After seeing that thread about the "scamming commish", I thought I would ad some personal info FYI.

I've been an active member of the Huddle for 5 seasons, and at FBG's for 4 seasons. Some folks may know me by the Jets training camp reports I have posted here. I am an owner in both the original Huddle vs FBG Dynasty wars league as well as the DW2 league. I am also in my fifth year as a charter owner in the Any Given Sunday Huddle BOTH league. The Huddle is kind enough to supply a league forum at no charge for these leagues.

I've been playing FF since the mid eighties in local leagues. I'm 53 years old and own my own business. All dues would be paid via snail mail checks, so there would be a paper trail. All owners would be supplied with my full name, address, listed telephone number and business name info.

I only posted this yesterday, but have 4 owners already comitted. This may not be the best time to announce a new league, so it may take some time to fill up to 16 teams. I will pay for and set up MFL prior to asking for any dues payments.

The co-commish goes by the screen name of Pretender here at FBG. Pretender and I were partners in another on line IDP dynasty league for 3 years where we went to the Supe twice and won once. The commish starting putting through in-season scoring rule changes, and we decided to leave and start this up.

So, it's a safe league with a solid rule set, again based on the rule set from the Dynasty Wars leagues.

Merry Christmas!

PS: I go by the same screen name at the Huddle.

I know Rovers very well and have for about 4 years now. We talk on the phone as well as pm and email back and forth. You can't find a more responsible, knowledgeable and great commish material guy. He is as straight and true and responsible as they come.

I am 53 years old and have been involved in fantasy football since the 80's. A member here on FBG for a few years and a paid member for going on 3 years. I got involved in DW and DW II on the Huddle thru knowing Rovers. I have since joined DWIII as well this last year. I am in 5 Zealot leagues. I commish Z36 and vice commish Z15, Z52 and Z58. I have been an online dynasty with IDP and contracts Diehards on MFL for going on 5 years. I have been in a IDP dynasty league Double Coverage for going on my 3rd year - quite a few FBG guys in that league and another dynasty league Reggie White Memorial Dynasty league going on my second year. I also was an invited member of a redraft with IDP run by Chaos Commish for 2 years (the second year I didn't make the cut to be invited back lol) but have experience in IDP redraft leagues. I was also with a redraft IDP league for a year with some international guys - I received a personal invitation to join that league. I didn't continue with it as I had more leagues than I could handle at that time and needed to drop a couple.

My screen name on the Huddle is stingers.

Rovers and I both thought a redraft with IDP would be a lot of fun. Hope you'll consider it.

starting to fill up fast on the Huddle board where it is being advertised as well. If your interested contact Rovers or myself soon! We would like to see some familiar FBG faces in this league.

My plate is full but FWIW these are great, well established folks and I am sure it will be a great league.

ETA: I am in DWIII.

So far, it looks like we have 8 commitments, with another 4 expressing interest. It looks like this will fly.

In the interest of safe league play, I think this league will use the MFL "league safe" feature. This is an FDIC insured deposit administered as an option for an MFL league. The drawback is no personal checks, but the prize money is garanteed, no other owner or commish holds the league money, it gets sent out automatically by this new feature. Zero risk of getting scammed. Once we have all the interested parties ready to go, the Huddle will be gracious enough to give us a league forum where we can vote on things such as this, discuss any rule change suggestions and eventually, negotiate trades, what ever.

Some have already suggested 12 teams would be better than 16, and that is something we can discuss as well. Please post in this thread so I can bump it and have one place to check at FBG for interested owners.

Beuamont... bummer, you would be a great owner to have in this league. If you change your mind... the door is open!

To answer some of what's posted (as a person of interest)

1) League Safe is fine with me. I always believe that the commish most concerned with the safety of your money are the least likely to steal if they had to hold the money through the season.

2) would prefer 12 in this scoring system, it is only a slight one 55/45

3) I don't play any differently in leagues based on the $$$ at stake, so as long as the fee does not get into high roller range, it is a non-issue for me.

Looks like it will be the "league safe" system, and 12 teams, as a general consensus so far. Working on a league name now, and as soon as we decide on one, we can get a league forum set up. Since the Dynasty Wars leagues inspired this one, I am leaning towards DWI... LOL... the Draft Wars Invitational. Redraft Wars, Battle of the Boards, or make a suggestion. Hope to have the name and forum setup in no less than 2 weeks. Then we can get MFL set up as well. Original owners will have voting rights with majority rules on any and all scoring and rule sets prior to the inagural season, with the commish and co-commish having tie breaking power. Any subject is up for discussion, and polls, debate and discussion in the league forum will be encouraged. Once the initial rule set and scoring is established, there will be no further rule changes in season, unless some uncompromisable issue comes up... but using an already proven rule set makes this a very remote possibilty. The DW rule set is very solid, and tested. Happy New Year to all~! We don't have a waiting list yet, but the league is almost full already, within a week. If interested, please post now.PS: Since it will be a 12 team league, we also need to decide if we want to up the dues from 50 to 75 to keep the prize money pot sweet. I am thinking 2 conferences, 6 teams each, some prize money to best overall record, some to most points scored, and the majority of prize money allocated to the top 4 finishers with a standard playoff prize money sort of schedule.

I do like the idea of bumping up the dues to 75 in a 12 team format. By paying best overall record, most points scored and 4 places - 75 does make it a little sweeter. I definately agree with using MFL League Safe - I think it alieves any worries about the money and the commish doesn't have to take all the responsibility of handling the money. Hope to see a couple more of you FBG guys joining up! Come on - the water is great!

The league name is "Redraft Wars". We now have 10 owners, so 2 spots are still available. We have requested a league forum at the Huddle, which should be up by the end of next week, but it's the holidays, so it could possibly take longer. I will PM interested parties with the link to the forum when it becomes available.

We could use a couple more owners from FBG.... let's not let the Huddlers outnumber us! Post now if interested, as it will be easy to fill the remaining 2 spots. Then I expect we will start on a waiting list.
