Has anybody considered that this isn’t a test? That they’re running an actual mission because they’ve got information about something going on in America that threatens us?
My mind races. Perhaps all the Chinese nationals and other people that have crossed our border aren’t here for the blue-collar labor opportunities and off-payroll pay rate (I’m putting my tongue firmly in my cheek about that, so yes, I know that people off the books generally make less than people on them). Perhaps—perhaps—we let enemies in during our four-year vacation from reality and now they’re planning things that we can’t abide but that we also can’t tell the citizenry about because a) they’d be furious and b) they might screw up the mission and put everybody in jeopardy.
None of this will help me sleep well tonight.
I agree with you that if this drone thing is real, the explanation behind it is likely to be disturbing for one reason or another. But maybe it's not real.
This may be a bit of deep cut from recent culture, but during the summer of 2020, there was a conspiracy theory going around that the government (or somebody) was intentionally setting off fireworks in black neighborhoods because racism. Nicole Hannah Jones of 1619 fame was pushing that. And obviously it was false. Or at least I assume it was false because nothing ever came of it. Maybe people are seeing airplanes and getting caught up in a social contagion. Probably not, but it's happened before.
