I understand the idea behind having a deposit but I can't get behind it. You could start a bunch of leagues requiring deposits for future years and as long as those leagues are in existence no-one will ever know if you blew the cash or not.
yeah but someone always gives up and leaves and at that point Its pretty much a dead league. It's to hard to find someone to take on a team that hasn't been managed right and would be a complete rebuild project. NEVER HAPPENS!
I've seen a lot of orphaned teams on multiple sites and I haven't seen 1 that I'd take over do to the fact I KNOW I can draft a better team to go with.
I think if a guy was having a horrible season do to a bad draft and or injuries he would be more inclined to continue trying to build a team thru waivers if he was obligated do to that fact he had a $50 deposit to lose. The guy that doesn't have anything to lose simply tanks it and ditches his talentless, unsellable team with no worries or regard for the rest of the league. Not to mention it leaves the site with the Impossible task of trying to resell these teams which is why they've come up with this strategy to combat deadbeat owners in the first place.
