Am I right in the thinking that D. Henderson will turn out to be the long ball TD Monster? J. Horn and the hamstring problems kind of rule him out. The only question mark is M. Colston, he's had a great camp according to reports I have read. Is it possible he will be the deep threat?

Colston played TE, IIRC, but is converted to WR so I am not convinced he is a deep threat. Guys that play TE are not described as "burners" or "speed merchants". Henderson has the speed but his hands have been iffy since being drafted. Brees and the passing game are not long ball guys, I think. I would not sleep on Horn though. He's a strong, physical WR who has speed to break a long one. His hamstring issues haven't been displayed in camp or in the preseason.

I am having a hard time finding anything certain...have you guys heard who is lining up as their #2 this week/season? I have Colston in a Yahoo league - he can be used as my TE.

colston is regarded as the #2 from what i understand. Henderson hasn't moved up the depth chart.

FYI, Colston was never a TE - there was speculation that he would be converted to TE, but that never came to fruition. Colston is not a speed WR - he's a large frame WR - but he has great jumpball skills and knows how to use his height for an advantage. They'll take some shots downfield with him.

Horn has had no hamstring problems whatsoever this offseason and never had any before last season, so I wouldn't "rule him out" at all. Hopefully opposing defenses think the same way.

Colston was never a TE, the scouts just thought he would have to convert. He's not really known as a speed guy but at 6-4 230, a 4.51 in the 40 is plenty.
Pretty sure Brees can't throw it far enough to have a deep threat.
I beg to differ, Brees has been hitting guys from 50 yards out in practice. No, he doesn't have a big arm, but he can get it deep if need be.

Good info here...The Saints aren't going to be a downfield team, but they will take shots with all of their recievers including Bush.

With defenses undoubtedly going to focus on Horn, IMO there will be some value at the #2 spot with Stallworth gone.

The only question is who it will be.

Everything Payton has said up to now leads to Colston starting. Devery had a good game last week & if he continues to play (and catch) well he could move back into the #2 spot, but for now I'm pretty sure it's Colston's to lose.

I was thinking the same thing. He's got great accuracy, but poor arm strength (even before the rotator cuff went south).
He never seemed to have a problem getting it deep to Gates. Any Chargerz fans here wanna back me up on that?

Charger fan here. Anything Gates got yards on he got primarily after the catch. Gates is a TE and not a deep threat either.

M. Colston is the #2 WR for this week's game. I saw the starting roster last night on wwltv.com We do know that henderson is a speedster so I would think that he would be a good target on distance downs.
