That would be more than 3 teams scored in their full 16 game seasons last year (Bengals, Browns, Rams).

Who dat!

It's pretty rare to see an offense that good paired with a defense that is playing as well as theirs is this year. They are going to be one tough team to beat.

14 of those points were handed to them by the refs today. A travesty took place today in Miami.
You have got to be freaking kidding me? First your home cooking doesnt give Sean Payton a review on a dropped pass because of equipment failure and then all the non pass interference calls on your defense. You have some nerve crying refs

Yes I would have to say the amount they are scoring is amazing. But the real topic of the forums at the end of the year is look how much they scored and didn't go to the SuperBowl.

The real travesty for Dolphin fans - signing Culpepper rather than Brees four years ago. Probably the worst front office move in the past 10 years (Oakland and Washington excluded from consideration).

I would expect the Dolts to screw up well before the Saints do.
I take it you mean the Colt's. But not likely when you look at the two teams Peyton is one of if not the best QBs of this era. He has two rookie WRs since Gonzalez is out. The have a lack of a running game for the most part. And they still seem to steam roll over teams. If you look the Colt's are the only team to make it to the playoffs every year since I believe early 2000's if not before. And the Colt's don't under estimate there opponents like the Saints did today when they almost lost against the Dolphin's.

Were you in a coma during Week 2?

 Didn't the Colts almost lose to the Fins earlier this year?

Yes they did, but they didn't under estimate the fins they just weren't clicking on all cylinders at that time and now they are firing in order.

Would love some insight on how you know the Saints slow start today was due to the fact that they were "underestimating the Dolphins" as opposed to the Colts slow start being merely the result of "just not clicking on all cylinders".

A lot of people underestimating the Dolphins in here.
Yup. Sort of. Miami coaches gave away this game by making crappy calls in the 4th quarter.
Sean Payton begged the Dolphins to take a 24-3 lead. He just refuses to run the ball until he's thrown it 35 times. Dolphins, Jets and Bills and sold out to stop the pass and Payton didn't think of running until the second half of all those games. This will be what kills the Saints.

Pretty interesting since they were averaging 31.8 attempts/game leading into today and were ranked 20th in the NFL in passing attempts/game. I'm gonna need some help with that math.

I am not a fan of either of these teams, but this might be the most obvious case of "foot in the mouth" that I have ever seen still try to defend him self.....WOW...in the words of Ron White "YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!!!!!!!"

Simple, when they have success throwing early, they build big leads and run alot in the 2nd half. When they struggle to throw the ball, Payton keeps throwing it until he finally concedes and starts running it. The reason running attempts are high is because when they have struggled passing this season, the defense has kept it close and allowed the Saints to lean on the run in the second half. In the Bills, Jets and Dolphin games, the offense struggled in the first half, then ran it well in the second half. The only reason this is possible is the improved defense. Otherwise, it would have been like the Panther and Falcon road games last year. Payton needs to run the ball early if the passing attack is struggling.

That, or maybe Payton is maturing as a coach and improving his balance. Nevertheless, so your 35 times a game was an exaggeration? And, 20th in passing attempts/game is still quite low, even with their running out the clock in the 2nd half if he's still doing what you're suggesting.I completely agree that last year this was a big problem (some out of necessity due to the defense). This year, this looks like a completely different team from start to finish.

I hear you, but I do think there's an element of pass-sets-up-the-run going on here.Really, opposing defenses are throwing the kitchen sink at the Saints' O. They're doing stuff that's not on film of previous games ... but it only works long enough for Payton and the coaches upstairs to get a good look at things. Then adjustments are made at halftime (often, but not always, in favor of the run game).
