New Pricing? Prohibitive (1 Viewer)

Was very disappointed to see the new pricing structure today when my subscription ran out.  I have been a subscriber since darn near the beginning (you can see my last four or five 3 year subscriptions and I did many one-off seasons before that) and now the cost for one season is as much or more than I paid for three seasons in years past.

I love the content and discussions here, but this is just too much.

Sad to say goodbye.

You can do the $10 deal with DRAFT.com yet   Can't get much cheaper than that. I'm actually disappointed that I purchased a week before the DRAFT deal.

Maybe this should be a poll.

I did the $10 DRAFT thing. Normally a sponsor gives some sort of deal and I just tack it on my current subscription that hasn't run out yet.

Is the 3-year subscription not an option going forward?  Strange.  I'm not going to do the daily fantasy thing, either.

Forty bucks seems excessive, especially for people who are only in one or two leagues.  Not everyone spends hundreds or thousands of dollars on fantasy football.

Yup. I've moved on as well. For nearly ten years I would sit down 2-3 weeks before my draft and ritualistically binge consume all the FBG content.

The DRAFT deal is nice I suppose but last thing I need is another login/pw/e-mail signup.

Once you cut the cord it may take a few searches at first but not that difficult to develop as good/better resources.

You log in once, pay your $10 and never need to log in again

I've cut the cord in the past, and was lured back do to a free subscription and getting into dynasty; the dynasty content is pretty good. I guess to each their own. I treat it like a buffet, I only go for what I like. And if what I like tends to not be worth the cost then I'll cut. I just don't understand how $10 is too much for people.

Everyone has their own individual value equation and hassle factor threshold level. YMMV. All good.

I am almost completely done with fantasy football down to one league. So really don't need much info anymore.  However I really enjoy the subscriber contest it is worth the price of the subscription alone.  Now if that goes away I will probably be gone.

I generally come down pretty strongly in favor of JB and FBGs but I agree with the OP complaint.

It doesn't matter if DRAFT is relatively easy. It's still another vendor login who will then peddle my information to various other vendors adding to the endless waves of BS marketing/advertising emails I receive daily. It is particularly B.S. as it is a vendor service I neither need nor want.

It's crap that long term, loyal customers get auctioned off like so much cattle.

Yes this is the biggest downside, is that your $10 can sit there forever but you'll get your information sold and get flooded with emails like crazy. I can see how it's not worth the hassle.

You just pay the $10 on draft - sign up and ten never go back to the website.  You don't have to log in there to get into FBG's, You can use a different email.  I agree but loyalty rarely means anything these days.  DTV, Verizon. everything.  New customers are the bottom line.

Use the forum (free) for sleeper ideas but do your own homework.  Having the same info as everyone else is not an advantage.  Watch game tape where available.  Draft talent not depth chart positions.  FBGs do a great job but they are part of the same echo chamber.

I signed up for the Draft deal, but I would have been gone otherwise. I've been a long-time customer, but I think this site has lost focus. It's just trying to do too much and instead of being very good at a few things. I do a lot of what DonFue says above. I tend to disagree with quite a bit of the analysis provided on this site, so I just don't think it's worth paying at these prices anymore.  I do like the message boards though. You'll pick up some good tidbits from time to time that you miss from doing your own analysis.

It's gone from being the price of a good case of beer, to the price of a good bottle of booze over the last few years...doesn't make much difference to me, YMMV.

Although I utilize other resources, the layout hasn't changed much over the years, and as I'm used to it, I can find things I'm looking for faster than acclimating myself to the details of other sites.

I especially like how they've added articles from other resources into the Player Profile pages.

Love the Subscriber Contest. Would really miss that if I didn't subscribe. That thing is worth a good bottle of booze, IMHO.

Yea I was out until the $10 deal came along.   I really only ever got it for the DD to use on draft day or I’d pay the sub just to support the boards was my thinking.  but the way they have been handled it’s kinda meh to me there too now. no way I’d pay $40 for basically the same info that’s all over the web for free and the DD isn’t worth it for a stand alone purchase.  I can’t believe it’s $60 if you wanted the daily stuff too.

I get it, $40 bucks doesn’t go along ways these days anymore and isn’t a ton of money.  It’s all how you wanna spend it though.

i finally stopped this year as well, after about 15 years?

but i’ve cut back from 4-5 leagues to one.

the only content i’ve been using the last few years is Bloom’s 100.

Exactly. That’s why it’s so cheap. Your information is valuable.

i should clarify that i have no ill will against FBG, they are great, but the cost/reward for me has finally tipped in the other direction.

I subscribed again this year, even with the much higher price.  What I'm finding most annoying and disappointing are all the mistakes I see throughout the articles.  If you want to charge premium pricing you at least need to make sure your content is edited properly either by another party or the writers themselves @Joe Bryant.

Can't tell you how many times articles had references to the wrong player etc.  Mistakes happen, but when I'm paying this much I shouldn't have to go back and re-read the section 2 and 3 times to try to make sure I understand who the writer was really meaning to talk about.

Tonight I was reading the most recent Training Camp Report vol 13, and the Ravens depth chart is listed in the Bills section.  These are the types of editing mistakes I've seen over and over in this year's articles and it's inexcusable.

I threw an @ to Joe B above, not sure anymore who else is on staff that should really see this, so feel free to quote and add any other staffers that would benefit from seeing this.
