New to Yahoo FF (1 Viewer)

I know, I know Yahoo sucks...........but it's free

Moving from CBS and their rising costs, our league is moving to yahoo for the first time in 13 years.

My question is about the waiver system, and how it works

In years past the Commish(me) has run the waivers manually.

Owners would put in for players after Mondays game through Wednesday night, and Thursday morning I would run the waivers in reverse order of the standings. The waiver wire would then remain closed through the Monday night game, and it would all start over. This allows all owners the same opportunity to pick up players off the wire.

Can someone explain how the Yahoo waiver system works?

A player who is dropped is on waivers, usually for 24-48 (you can change the time setup in the league settings). If a player on waivers is not claimed in that time, he becomes a free agent and can be picked up by anyone at just about any time.

The yahoo system is based on how often you drop/add someone. The more moves you make, the lower your waiver priority. If I add a guy today and you do nothing, you go above me in the pecking order.

Let's say Player A is going to be on waviers for 24 hours. Anyone interested puts in a claim for him, and then when that 24 hours is up yahoo looks at the waiver wire priority and awards him to the person that has the highest priority (least amount of transactions).

ETA: Clarification: The yahoo waivers are not based on team standings, at least the ones I've seen. You might be able to change this when you set the league up, but I've never seen it.

I believe that under "continual rolling list", only successful waiver adds move you to the bottom of the waiver list (and everyone else moves up one). FA adds/drops have no impact on your waiver priority.

I believe they have a few other options for waiver priority now including a new "blind bidding" system with annual budget.

Does anyone know, with Yahoo's new blind bidding (I think they call it FAAB or something like that?), once the blind bid waivers are processed each week, are free agents still available on a first-come first-served basis? Or, is it a one-shot only, and your only chance to pick up a player during the week is in blind bidding?
