New York Giants Vs. Dallas Cowboys (1 Viewer)

The Dallas Cowboys are traveling to the New York Giants for what will be the biggest game of the year in the NFC East. The Dallas Cowboys won the last meeting by kicking a field goal in overtime to win by 3 points. However, with this game in NY the Giants are considered to have the slight edge. Both teams have lost some very close games this season and won some close games.I expect this game to be no different and would be surprised if either team won by 10 points. However, with my biased opinion I think that the Cowboys outplayed the Giants last game and are the better team. If Dallas wins this game, they go up 1.5 games (head to head double win) and are looking very strong to win the division. But if the Giants win, they go up a game and shake off that ugly loss in Seattle.I'm looking for a possible Sig. Bet here Cowboy and Giants fans. As a Cowboy fan, I love the fact that they have a big division game like this so deep into the season, and I'm sure Giant fans feel the same with the recent dominance shown by the Eagles. So how about it.........I know the Cowboys are the best team in the division. Any Giant fans think I'm wrong?Cowboys :own3d: Giants in 05

10 days off doesn't hurt. Giants coming off a brutal loss. I'm gonna be taking this in from the Mirage sportsbook. A Dallas win and they are a game and a half up on the Giants. The way things are shaping up there might not be room for two NFC East teams in the playoffs. No way in hell I bet this game any way but the Cowboys. This one will come down to a FG. Count on it.

I agree that the Cowboys outplayed the Gints last time around - couple of things ill be watching closely:1) Will Anthony Henry have another standout day vs Plax? 2) How bad will Osi and Strahan harass Drew? 3) Can the Cowboys cover Jeremy Shockey?Should be a titanic tilt... I think the keys will be whether the cowboys running game gets on track (setting up play action and keeping the pressure off of Drew) and the job the boys defense does against Shockey and Plax.

Wow, expected a little more support from Giant fans before the game. If they happen to win this game, I certainly don't want them coming out after the fact.We can all play Monday morning QB.

1) Will Anthony Henry have another standout day vs Plax? NO too rusty

2) How bad will Osi and Strahan harass Drew? Alot 4 sacks total

3) Can the Cowboys cover Jeremy Shockey? Yes, the zone coverage schemes used now emphasize RW in short zones on passing downs on the strong side. Expect much less big catch production out of JS. Still might get a redzone TD.

Not really a Giants fan, but a New Yorker anyway. I don't see the Cowboys winning if the Giants play up to their abilities.Giants keys to victory:

1. Get to Bledsoe.

2. Get to Bledsoe.

3. Get to Bledsoe.

If they don't, he'll pick them apart. Cowboys have too many talented receivers for the secondary to keep up with.

4. Run the ball.

5. Get Shockey involved early.

These are the Giants' main advantages over the 'Boys on this side of the ball. I don't think the G-Men can win a track meet, so they'll try to get a lead, play tough D, and grind it out.

Should be a great game. If the Giants D-line plays well, the Cowboys won't win.

Last week opposite Strahan, Osi Umenyura abused Walter Jones, one of the best left tackles in the game. Torrin Tucker, a players who was beet out by a rookie for RT last year, may have issues this weekend at LT. So do you double Umenyura and leave Strahan with one-on-one protection on the other side? Now what about a blitzer.

I think Bledsoe will be harrassed all day.

Edit to add: Big time disagree with Giants not being suited to win a "track meet". The Giants are the top scoring offense in the NFC! If that doesn't make they suited to win a track meet game, if things turn that way, what does?

 2 teams battling it out for the 4th seed in the NFC.Kind of like watching 2 40 yr old spinsters duke it out over who's going to catch the bouquet at the reception while the younger, prettier things leave them in the dust.

A Giants/Cowboys game is worth watching even if they were battling it out for last in the NFC.

Their big point-production days were versus Arizona in week 1 (42) and the Lambs defense (44). They put up 36 on the Redskins, but that was an unusual case.Don't get me wrong--this is a good offense. They're consistent, they sustain drives well, and they have a lot of weapons and options, but to me the scoring seems a bit misleading. This is definitely not the best offense in the NFC, IMHO--certainly not in terms of the big play.

Hope you realize both teams are a game out of the 2nd seed? And Carolina and Atlanta play eachother this week. A dallas/atl win would put them in the 3rd seed right away. NY/atl win would have ny in the 4th seed still, but only a half game out.Chicago does get GB twice down the stretch so it would be tough to get to the 2nd seed, but it's not out of the question.

Not the best offense in the NFC? Perhaps not.More prolific then the Cowboys. Deninitely.

My point is not that the Giants are necessarily the best offense in the NFC (an arguable point) but they seems better suited to that sort of game, should it happen, then the Cowboys are, and the statistics seem to bear that out.

So what you're saying is that we should discount their scoring in nearly 30% of the games that they've played...

I'd say that they don't necessarily have to "get" Bledsoe, they just have to pressure him. He typically folds like a house of cards under pressure and makes really bad decisions. But I agree, one of the keys for the Giants will be the play of their defensive line.

Okay, I'll bite.Hard to pin down what the insight is here. Is it that the NFC is weaker than the AFC? Clearly true. Also not that interesting. The fact is, there are still NFC playoffs; they will have somebody in the big game at the end; and I daresay you'll be watching. Any objective assessment would have to conclude that the Giants' likelihood of being that team is not fourth-best in the NFC.

Is it that the NFC East is a tough division? Also clearly true. In the NFC, only the South is comparable (probably superior) in terms of the quality of teams there. I'd buy tickets to any one of Atlanta, Tampa Bay, or Carolina versus the Giants; those would all be tough games.

As for Seattle, I remain unconvinced despite the raging hype. They got the win (at home) but in terms of actual play, the Giants had the edge. They're the only team in their cupcake division with an actual defense. They'll probably have the bye, which always helps, but I do not see this team in the Superbowl.

And the Bears...any team with that defense would be dangerous. As it stands, that's what they are: any team with that defense. Lovie Smith and his staff have done an amazing job with the team, but it's important to retain a grip on reality.

well I guess the good news is that you don't need a "great" offense to outscore the Cowboys.

You don't need a great offense, you do need a good one though. Luckily for the Cowboys the Giants aren't great on offense. I consider them good, which is why this game will be close. The Giants defense isn't great either. It's a notch below the Cowboys D but with home field advantage in this game, that makes it even.

It'll come down to who wants it more, who's willing to make the play to win the game at the end.

Both Dallas and the Giants last week didn't have that player.

I personally thought Dallas outplayed the Giants big time last game. They only won by 3 but it should have been 10 plus.

I'd be mildly surprised if Dallas lost this week, even though it's on the road.

It will come down to who makes the least mistakes. Even though Dallas "outplayed" them in the last game the Giants defense created 4 turnovers and the Cowboys had two missed FG's.

That won't get it done this time in the Meadowlands.

Giants Stadium in December--edge GiantsGiants are playing better on the road recently but have played very well at home, especially defensively.Parcells will try to get a lead early and then control the clock,if he does,Cowboys will win a close one,if the Giants get the lead at home in this big a game the avalance will start and they will win easily.Tough call, but I'll give the Giants the edge.

Funny you would say that considering the Giants beat your Broncos and the Cowboys should have beaten the Broncos. Do you consider your Broncos 40 year old spinsters? Also in the NFC who would you consider the younger prettier things?

Count me in for the Cowboys. No way the Cowboys lose this game after a 10 day break and coming off a heartbreaking loss. The 2005 Cowboys are the 2003 Carolina Panthers. A team of destiny.

No question on that one.As for this game, since I've posted 6 times and said nothing about it...

I think the Cowboys win late. There's a lot to be said for experience in this kind of game, and since the Cowboys' run defense is so strong, it'll force Eli to win the game. That's going to be very hard to do in a spot like this.
