It seems as if its only happened twice. The Indy game you mention and the Redskins at home over the Vikings in 87-88 after the Redskins beat the Bears in Chicago the week before. Both times, the home team won. As an Eagles fan, I'm more worried about this game than most people. Westbrook has looked pretty awful running the ball lately (he hesitates and doesn't have the same burst). The line certainly has some fault too. I understand the Vikes and GMen are much different that arizona, but I thought he was THE #1 reason that the Eagles killed the Cards first time around. If he isn't himself, we're looking at a one dimensional team again. Also, If the Cards pick up the blitz, they'll have plenty of opportunities for big plays. Am I overreacting? Should I get a dog?
Nah, you're not overreacting. As Eagles fans, we've been conditioned to expect to be disappointed. Hell, I was worried about the Cowboy game and the Viking game. It doesn't matter how well this team is playing, they always have the potential to throw a Cincy or Washington-type game in there.You would think that a 28 point win six weeks ago would have me feeling 100% sure of this outcome, but it doesn't. Am I worried that Arizona 'isn't the same team'? Hell no. Because the eagles aren't either. The Eagles defense is much improved since then. I think I'm a bit apprehensive because I'm afraid the Cards will be uber-pumped up playing for such high stakes at home. If they get one early, I could see the Eagles throwing exclusively from that point on and get into that all-too-familiar funk. I think the Eagles are playing with confidence now and are past that point, but you never know.
I predict a 24-10, 24-13 type Eagles win, but I'll never shed that tiny bit of doubt that these guys have planted in my head.

TE Spach will not play, Arizona signed a new TE cause Pope has also been injured recently.

Boldin is saying that he "wants to practice a few times" before he plays in the NFC championship game. I can't believe a guy that is as tough as Boldin wouldn't do everything in his power to play in a game this big. He's a competitor and would probably play with a broken arm if he had to. Regardless, his status is a big difference maker in the outcome of this game. I still think the Birds (eagles) take it down with him in the game, but without him I think the Eagles walk away with it.

Boldin played with a head the size of Jack in the Box earlier in the season. If he can play, he will. There might be some gamesmanship going on. Should be a fun game, either way.

Hamstrings are a tough deal.. you usually can't just tough it out like you can with other injuries. Plus with him being a free agent.. not sure he really wants to risk making it much worse unless he's closer to being healthy.. I do think he plays though..

I'll be screaming for the Cardinals in this one. I would love for the Cardinals to give their hardcore fans a SB win. I would hope that people that live in Minnesota and root for other teams would do the same. Dawkins has been a bit slower all year. Age is finally catching up to him. That said, he plays with a veteran savvy and toughness that generally makes up for the "lost step". There aren't many safeties playing today that are smarter, or tougher, or who hit harder. He may be slower then before, but he's still among the league's best.In that Giant game, did it look like Dawkins has lost about 3/4 of a step? I thought so. So I guess Q's bad hammy will keep them at the same speed.

yeah, he was slow to the deep corner a couple times, but luckily Eli bailed him out. That said, i will take Dawk over any other Safety in the league...period. He's a true leader and makes WAY too many plays to worry about a slow cover a couple times a gameDawkins has been a bit slower all year. Age is finally catching up to him. I've though about this. There is no way that B-Dawk will let the Eagles lose this game. He is out of his mind right now. I expect Fitz to get a very hard hit early in the game so he thinks twice in the future.

Speaking of Dawkins and spectacles...I like the guy a lot as a player.
He has been playing at a super-high level for a long time, major props to him.
2 things bug me and I want to see if anyone else agrees...
1. Does he have to flop around like Spiderman when he comes out of the tunnel? I always feel embarrassed for him, its so childish and what I consider to be below him. It's on par with Ray Lewis' ridiculous tunnel dance. I mean, is that what you think would fire up the crowd even more?
2. It looks like 90% of the time he comes in on a tackle after the fact, meaning someone else has the guy wrapped up and going to the ground, he comes flying in leading with the crown of his helmet. Is that spearing? Didn't he hurt his neck a few seasons back doing this?
Those are my perceptions...Bdawk is a great player that has a ton of heart and desire.

I'm a huge Eagles fan and I'll gladly answer both of these honestly.1. Yes, it does look a little silly. I've always thought Thta Lewis' act was dumb, too. I think his Eagle teammates, particularly teh younger ones, have come to expect the 'Dawkins show" coming out of the tunnel. I know the fans do. I have a hunch that some of the other team leaders, like Mcnabb and Westbrook, are probably saying to themselves, 'Thank God I don't have to act like that'.2. Yes, Dawkins has always done this. Surprisingly, he gets very few pwersonal fouls. He seems to time it just right so that he can deliver a good shot just under teh gun of making it be a late hit. I think it works like body punches in a boxing match. You get speared in teh ribs a few times early-on, I think it makes you a bit gun shy in the fourth quarter. I can remember watching Plank and Fencik do this all the time for the Bears back in the day. I could never understand how they avoided the late hit calls. John Lynch also made a living flying in late.

Brian Westbrook re-injured his left knee in the Philadelphia Eagles' 23-11 divisional-round victory over the New York Giants but is expected to play against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the running back told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio on Wednesday.
Westbrook said he is dealing with some "extra swelling" in the knee and wouldn't practice Wednesday.
"I'm going to spend more time running in the pool to help the muscles around the knee fire up a little bit better," he said.
Westbrook finished with just 36 yards on 18 carries and had two receptions for 10 yards last weekend.

To me, this is just ESPN looking for something, anything, to report on a Wednesday. And if they can stir the pot and drum up some "uh ohs"
the better for them. Much ado about nothing really. Westy has been dealing with this all season. They give him the week to rest and he's good to go on Sundays. No different hereI love it. He's so mild mannered 6 days out of the week and just loses his mind on Sundays.

this is a standard westbrook late season/postseason injury report. They hold hm out, call it swelling, and then play him all day on sunday.

Westbrook misses a game or two and they sit him out of practice starting in about November through the end of the season. Yes, he's banged up, but so is virtually every player in the league at this point.

I always pay attention to Westbrook, and am familiar with his history of playing after not always practicing. Will he play this week? Most likely, yes, but what if doesn't and no one had said anything all week about him being hurt? Then you and everyone else would be crying and #####ing about ESPN and the Eagles not saying anything about him possibly not playing all week. Like I said, he will most likely play, but him not practicing is at least noteworthy. That is my point. i actually think EPSN has been creating a lot of stories lately...1- They took an 18 month old Pacman story and presented it as breaking news this past week2- Mort recently posted a story about the Raiders coaching search and said that the raiders "forfeited the right to respond"3- Irvin and Deion (I know he is on NFLN) constantly stoking the McNabb fire)4- This westbrook story. He's been held out of virtually every Nov/Dec/Jan practice for the past 3 years due to his knee/ankle problems. Yet even today on PTI, Kornheiser makes it sound like Westy is outJust read Lee Ann Schreiber's article and its becoming obvious that ESPN is more becoming more about entertainment and less about news as each day passes.But that is for another thread, the point here is that this Westbrook story is a non-story. This is standard operating procedure for the guy this time of the season. Honestly i think the only issue with your original post is your editorial "uh oh" that was added to the end.
