NFC Divisional Playoff Schedule (1 Viewer)

So Dallas plays on Sat this week and Sun next week while Arizona plays on Sun this week and Sat next week? Why would the NFL give Dallas two more days than Arizona to prepare for their second round playoff game?

I think they did the same thing last year in one of the conferences. It slightly annoys me too. Not that big a deal though since the other team get extra time to prepare for their opponent also.

The game dates and times are set before the wildcard games, most likely based on the league and network preferences, and it may or may not work out for the best for the wildcard game winners. If Philly had won they would have played on Saturday and AZ or GB would have played on Sunday.

They like Dallas better? :goodposting:Well, that's what you wanted to hear.

I think it correctly gives the #1 seed the advantage they deserve for winning their conference and earning their seed.
Saints play Saturday so thats incorrect
Well, after two weeks off an extra day really doesn't matter, and may actually hurt. I think what the post may have been saying is that the Saints as the one seed had a greater right to play the team on short rest the the Vikes do as the two seed. But again, I don't think the divisional round schedule is designed with that in mine, it just works out that way sometimes.

What makes no sense to me is why does CBS get the primetime game? They also have the super bowl this year. Fox gets no primetime games on their network this year at all.

Friday/Saturday night sports are no prize for the networks. There's nothing wrong with that time slot, but it's not really much more desirable than a 4 PM game.

That makes sense. The difference in ad rates for NFL versus non-NFL (golf/skiing/snowboarding/ice dancing?) in the afternoon may be greater than NFL versus non-NFL (primetime shows) at night. In any event, Fox is getting the late game of the two on championship Sunday in a couple of weeks, which will be a 6 pm ET start.

They can also hype that night's shows directly following the game so people might not change the channel. If they are hyping the next night's shows people might forget by then.

The advantage is that they play a team who is on shorter rest. And if they win, they'll have longer rest before the championship game.Or do you seriously think that 13 days rest is a real disadvantage compared to 14 days rest??
