My main league scores through the Superbowl so players on teams that make the playoffs are more valuable if their regular season stats are similar. I don't think anyone expects New Orleans or Atlanta to win the division and i don't think a wild card comes out of the division either. Would most agree that Tampa looks to be the lock to win the division now or can Vinny resurect Steve Smith & the Panthers ? Your thoughts ?

This division so reeks of excrement, I would not rule out the Saints getting hot and taking it with something like an 9-7 record.

It's a two-team race now for sure, Tampa has the tie-breaker and Carolina at home still.

It's not a lock of course, but I'll be pretty surprised and disappointed if they don't win it.

Saints could go 9-3 the rest of the way:

@ SEA -- (winnable)

vs. ATL -- W

@ SF -- W

vs. JAX -- L

vs. STL -- W

@ HOU -- (winnable)

@ CAR -- (winnable)

vs. TB -- (winnable)

@ ATL -- W

vs. AZ -- (winnable)

vs. PHI -- (winnable)

@ CHI -- L

They have the talent -- they just need to come together. And Sean Payton needs to spend less time screwing around w/ offensive gimmicks and more time in practice working on the basics.

:shrug: This is the right answer.
The Saints going 9-3 the rest of the way is the right answer?
Carolina has been pulling that kind of crap for years. They start out of the gate slow and then reel off 7 games in row or something. They're called "the most dangerous team" in the NFL or whatever come playoff time. If Carolina does this every year, why can't the Saints do the same?

no way

Panthers win it.........

at least i hope so.....

David Carr is my gloved hero, if i had hair left i would get it done just like his

Carolina had a defense.

Tampa Bay is a lock because since the NFC South was created, the last place team in that division won it the following year. :rolleyes:

It hurts to lose two games in a row that they should have won...but the Bucs are still a better team than the Saints IMO...and have an easy remaining schedule.

I'd still bet on Tampa winning at 9-7.

Saints will roll, while I'm a true fan, you cannot debate the way they dismantled a quality opponent yesterday (JAX). Carolina and Tampa have serious injury issues with QB and RB. If Brees is given time and allowed to make his reads he'll shred their opponents. Look for Pierre Thomas to get more invloved and for the Saints to throw first get on top of opponents early. With Hollis Thomas finally in shape there run D gets even better. MOI.. :goodposting:

i think the fans have been saying that all season. stecker isn't doing much but he continues to get the playing time.

Steck had a nice little game vs Jax -- I'll take 8 touches for 35 yards from him every week. And he's not going to get Drew killed by missing a blitz pickup; until the staff is confident in Thomas in pass-protection, we're not going to see much of him on offense. He has looked great on kickoff returns -- he was real close to breaking one yesterday...

I can see him being used still on 3rd downs because he's got good hands. However, as a change of pace and/or breather, i'd like to see Pierre on the field.

New Orleans will take back that division. Bank on it.

My main league goes through the Superbowl as well... but "TB is a lock" ???!!!Ummmmmmmmmmm, I heard three analysts this morning mention that Saints are anywhere from a probable to a lock to win that division. The defense is better than last year, and Brees shredded a dang good defense every which way but loose.Tampa Bay barely beat a fobbling Kurt Warner-led 3-4 Cardinals at home.... While the Saints dismantled the 5-2 Jaguars. The Saints haven't allowed a 100-yd runner this year...The Bucs have a half game lead with both teams having an easy schedule.... but "don't expect the Saints" to win the division. I see TB slipping, and NO rolling.I give the Saints 2:1, Bucs 4:1, Carolina 10:1.

Keep in mind, that first post was from OCTOBER 12, Saints didn't look nearly as good then as they do now...

I fixed/updated that for you.

Looks like the Saints have figured things out, Tampa is Tampa (good defense, so so offense) and the Panthers will be directly snapping to our RBs soon. Gonna be a long rest of the season.....

Good point.

Lot's of great homer replies here about "locks"...but the bottom line is this division is CLEARLY a 2 horse race.

The Saints look great all of a sudden.

If you've watched the Bucs play, you'd agree that they are playing better than the scores are showing...and are a few plays away from being 7-2.

There is no lock either way...

Or perhaps VY not getting hurt at your place and being 4-5, who knows...but you are absolutely correct, there are no locks in any way shape or form at this point, way too much football to be played. I just find it laughable to read, after 4 weeks, the comments about teams being out of it, or focusing on the first draft pick. Got to love message board hyperbole...

The Bucs have issues at QB? :lol:

Also gotta love message board ignorance. Vince was abysmal in that game, in every sense of the word. They were better with Collins in there.

If Carolina does this every year, why can't the Saints do the same?
Because they're hideous?It's cool that you Saints fans still believe and all, but I'd be more focused on the #1 pick. That's much more likely.
#1 pick? OK. As it has been pointed out, the Saints remaining games are very winnable. I think Tampa Bay is the only team with a winning schedule that we have left and we get them at home.

My point was that any game is a few plays from a win or a loss, but nice try. :thumbup:

Tampa Bay's schedule is winnable too, plus they have yet to lose a division game. Tampa's schedule

@Falcons

Redskins

@Saints

@Houston

Falcons

@San Francisco

Carolina

That was a month ago, after an 0-4 start, guy. They WERE hideous then.

And you are the guy talking about messageboard ignorance?!? :scared:
Frankly, no one cares about Cappy's incorrect and obviously sarcastic Saints prognostications.This is all that matters:

The Bucs are 3-0 in the division. The Panthers are 2-2, Saints 1-2, and the Falcons 1-3.

The 2nd tiebreaker, after head-to-head, is division record. The Bucs have the Falcons and the Panthers still left to play at home. So TB most likely finishes at worst 4-2 in the division. The Saints or Panthers have to win out to just TIE the 2nd tiebreaker.

In other words...

:lmao:
