Philly fans are still partying this morning.
We won't know the opponent until tonight but we sure know where the game will be played
I would like to see Dallas make it there because it would be a party all week for NFL fans everywhere
The hype will be as high as many Super Bowls

Go!

I think home field is big in The NFC from here on out. I think it'll make just enough of a difference today for The Niners to advance and I think it'll make a huge difference next week for The Eagles. No matter what happens it's been a great playoff year for The NFL.

I've been saying for a few weeks right now. You couldn't script this any better for us Philly fans. Eagles road to the Super Bowl running through the Linc, facing Giants, Dallas and eventually Andy Reid would literally break the collective brains of Birds fans. Sports talk Radio would be ****tiest ****-show that ever ****-showed. As I said before, it would be delicious.

Either Dallas or SF coming into South Philly are going to have a rough, rough time. Especially considering that Jalen looks healthy.

Philly chances of advancing go up with every potential skill player they could face suddenly getting injured
Pollard looks like his Playoffs are thru

Any given week absolutely applies in the playoffs. Call turnovers a draw and no significant injuries and you gotta favor Philly at home. I like what Purdy has done, but he was somewhat lucky again today as he had a couple more passes that coulda/shoulda been picked...he's overdue. And he's not scary running....could see that Eagles pass rush knocking him around a little.

Promise an even turnover battle and I'm pretty confidant Eagles win.

This is not going to be the Giants game. Eagles offense should score. Lamb going off gives me hope for AJ next week. We have better ancillary weapons than Dallas and a better QB and coach. I like our chances.

Defensively. Stop the run. Get to Purdy. Easier said than done. Going to be one for the ages.

Philly fans: how are you all vs the run?
Usually we let team run on us in the 3rd quarter because we're up by 20 points, so we're happy to let them help burn clock.
Hmm. Okay. San Francisco rarely gets blown out. I had to quote that statistic several times in last years playoffs where some people were predicting that they’d lose big in games.

So our best chance is to control the ball and play defense. We give up a lot of yards, at times, but can typically hold teams to a lot of FGs.

I think we'll see a different Philly defense. Philly is tops in the league against the pass, middle of the road against the run. Because that usually works, this isn't the 90's. But against Tennessee, a team with a strong rushing identity - everyone was panicking about how good Derrick Henry would do against the soft Philly run defense - and he did nothing.

I'd agree. I would not read too much into the Philly run defense stats though...they just play a pass first defense usually. That may change.

Going into the playoffs I was thinking San Fran comes out of the NFC but I'm leaning towards Philly after the past two weeks

On the plus side, I dont think SF has faced a running QB like Hurts. He's going to present a unique challenge to them.

I'm a 49ers fan but I can't see them stopping the eagles offense. Their two biggest weaknesses are their secondary and facing running qbs.

Right now the gambling line says Philly has 57% chance to win this game. That feels way low to me. I bet the Eagles money line large as an emotional hedge as a 49ers fan. If San Francisco is within 7 midway through the 4th, I'll be happy. I don't think it will be a blowout, but I'm hoping "we" are more than competitive.

Niners gonna pull the upset.

They looked average tonight, but they're gonna shock the world.

You heard it here first

I’m going Eagles. Hurts playing much better than Dak, much more dynamic. Eagles at home. I’ll go something like 27-20.

I've got the Eagles but San Francisco is just such a great team with a great coach. I still think the QB might turn into a pumpkin with pressure applied.

Like I said in the Eagles thread, it's going to be Electric Sweat up front and get ready to wipe off that visor.

Hurts and company are going to do just enough to score 24 points and win this one.

Statistically we're good-not-great. However, when we face a team that centers their offense around a run game we are pretty good at removing the RB from the equation.
Held Jonathan Taylor to 80 yards, Aaron Jones to 43 yards, Derrick Henry to 30 yards, Saquon Barkley to 28 yards the first time we played them, 61 yards last week. The addition of Linval Joseph and Suh to the middle of our already top-notch D-line made a big impact, especially Joseph.

We also have historically gotten up on teams early and they are forced to throw, which is what we focus on in the second halves of games. Gannon seems fine to allow for rushes in lieu of big passing plays, so I think most of the middle of the pack rushing stats are gained at those points in the game.

I'll stand by my home field opinion, but A Niners/Bengals Super Bowl would evoke images of Joe Montana and..."Hey,that's John Candy". Google it kids. I think the defenses will be the story in this game, just the opposite of The AFC Championship. Eagles were impressive in The Division Round, pretty much expected. Brock Purdy has the worst game of his career, short as it's been, but The Niners still won. Which D makes the most stops will be big. Turnovers will be a key, obviously. Two very evenly matched teams. Two outstanding defenses. Quality running backs and receivers on both sides. Two outstanding tight ends. Philly has the more dynamic qb but Purdy plays well within The Niners system. I guess the deciding factor for me goes back to my original home filed assesment. Should be another great game and as today,Monday,I'll go...

Eagles- 23
Forty-Niners- 20

They're 2 point underdogs - not sure how shocking that upset would be.
Yeah, 49ers can win this game and it won't be an "upset" if they do. Teams are pretty evenly matched overall. I get the fact that Hurts is amazing and it should be a big advantage to Philly at the most important position, but Purdy has been damn good, so don't think the gap is as big as people are making it out to be.

Really looking forward to this one.

I expect this to be a lower scoring game. I think SF has to run a lot to shorten it and take pressure off of Purdy. Thinking something like 19-17 SF. If Philly wins, it’s probably a blowout.

Two best teams in the NFC. Two top defenses. Two excellent offenses. PHI has the homefield and the travel advantage. I think SF has the coaching advantage.

Keys to the game:

Turnovers (goes without saying).
Can PHI keep getting QB pressure with only rushing 4?
Can PHI tackle well? SF looks to have nothing but YAC monsters. If they can't bring Deebo and company down after making that catch....that advantage they have in the secondary will be negated a bit.

One of the things interesting to me is if SF will run a hurry up O to limit PHIs defensive line rotation. That lines bread and butter is always having rested high level talent out there. McCaffery, Kittle,Deebo, Aiyuk...even Mitchell; I'm sure SF can run almost their whole playbook without substituting.

This is going to be a close and gritty game.

Eagles will find a much tougher test in the 49ers as compared to the Giants defense.

I also expect the 49ers to open up the passing game a little more as compared to the Cowboys. Clearly they wanted to run it ugly all game against Dallas, and they stuck with it.

The last few weeks Purdy was more vertical and I wouldn’t be surprised by a couple of PA shots deep.

I’m not making a score prediction yet, but I expect a close, tight game with the Eagles (and their fans) clinching a lot more than they expect to based on some of the posts at FBG. IMO this one comes down to a final drive for one of the teams.

My initial thoughts are a lower scoring affair as well. Slugfest. Hurts evading pressure and breaking free for big gains worries me the most when they have the ball. When he does that the defense needs to tighten up and hold to FGs instead of TDs. Not that he can’t sit back and sling it to his receiving core as well, but I’d rather that be the case more often than not.

I keep seeing an outcome of 23-20 right now, in favor of Philly.
