The Jets franchise, long storied as the model of class, honor and integrity took a significant hit today when it was reported that they apparently have been engaging in a systematic campaign to violate league rules.

Rumors abound that the Jets have been engaging in this systematic cheating since Mangini's arrival, and are in direct violation of an obscure guidance email from the commissioner who was harranged into publishing said guidance at the behest of the "competition committee", long recognized as the political entity within the league through which politicos and team owners get revenge on others.

For God sake, what kind of example are we setting for the little children? Mangini should be banned for life!

I have never been more proud to not be a fan of the jets or patriots. I will, however, gladly plunk down 19.99 to see the mangini v billick slap fight when it comes on pay per view.

Wow, this is major stuff and I'm sure the commish will address this immediately. It's rumored that the Jets will be fined $5.

In other news, the Detroit Lions were posthumously awarded the last 6 Super Bowl trophies as "clearly they are the only team in the league not cheating"

Billick...Belichick. What are the chances these guys are 1st or 2nd cousins? seems like a little subtle poke at a coach or staff Billick may no longer respect.

What the Pats did was a violation of league rules, policed by league officials.

The Jets violated a game rule, supposed to be policed by game officials.

And I saw little to no flags for it...so did it really happen, or is Billick just a whiny biotch?

Please quit trying to equate this to what the Pats did.

Oh...and its not cheating if you don't get caught.

This is more comparable to a team who has a way of holding by the Oline without getting caught. Its against the rules, but if it does not get called...sorry, its not cheating.

A "penalty" is now the same as violating league rules?

Just more Pats fan trying to deflect the criticism of their team.

Pretty sad.

So Billick is a pats fan? Makes no senseRe- this threadJets are on the radar, they'd better mind their Ps and Qs or we'll hear stuff like this every week.

And to think some NE fans don't understand why the whiny tool label continues to thrive.

This is the same as when the Patriots we being accused of abusing the five-yard chuck rule a few years back. Officials got talked to about paying more attention to it and they made it a point of emphasis the next season. Apples and oranges people, both part of the fruit category but still very different things. This will not be handled by the league in anyway like spygate.

Simulating the snap count is something that is to be policed by the refs. Did they just ignore it and not call it? How could anyone not hear that? When watching a game on TV we can all hear the QB's cadence...did anyone hear the defense simulating it?That seems so pop warner-ish. Hell it's even illegal in pop warner!Something smells :fishy: here.

Always suspected this of Billick, but shocked about Belechick. Isn't he married?

Wow.... this is ######ed... The Ravens fly offsides 3 times and they claim the Jets are cheating  . What a ##### Billick is...

Anyway; if this wasn't called on the field... then it doesn't matter. The refs will have to be more alert to it in future games... thats all.

So let me get this straight....

It's perfectly legal for the offense to give a hard snap count to try & draw the defense offsides, but it's not Ok for the defense to do the same thing, in an effort to get the offense to commit a false start?

Seems fair to me.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: You are quickly becoming a poster that I have to to follow on a regular basis. Great schtick.BTW, for anyone who has something useful to contribute, isn't this an in-game infraction that should have been flagged? And if it supposedly happened multiple times, why wouldn't the Ravens bring it up to the officiating crew after the supposed first offense? This is a serious question- I'd like to know the answer. And if they were doing it (it's alleged at this point, not proven), they should have been punished for it. Pretty cut and dry.

This attitude towards Pats fans is one of the worst elements of the Shark Pool. Made even worse because it is perpetuated and encouraged by senior mods.Pats fans are no more whiny or tooly than other teams' fans; they are simply more prominent because the team has recently won three Super Bowls. (Oh, and getting lumped in with the out-of-conrol Boston Red Sox mania does not help either. )

We've been spoiled all these years with the Pats not winning. I had forgotten how had they were. They single handledly brushed aside Bears fans in the whiny dept like they didn't even exist.

LOL

I love the NY posters here. They want NE down so bad. They take everything so seriously. Sensitive little fellas.

Billick is a whiny tool. The Pats fans are the ones pointing to this to try and deflect their own actual cheating.

Gotta laugh at the folks trying to equate this to what the Patriots did. Kinda like appealing to the Commish because the refs missed an interference call.

Nice domino effect here. Look what the Pats have started.
Pretty sure the Jets started the whole whiny coach thing.
Pretty sure the Pats cheated and got the ball rolling. I think Bellichick may have done what no one thought was possible: End the reign of the NFL as the dominant sport in the USA>
You really think the Pats are the only ones doing this? Noone likes a narc, and Mangini is going to be a target for the rest of the teams in the n.f.l

XThis whole spygate thing has made it even more evident.

When the Pats got caught last week, there was hard evidence from the start. Yet there were still denials, #####ing and whining from some Pats fans here. Then it turned to "Well everybody does it, it's no big deal". Then it turned to "Well Mangini is just a rat". Then it turned to, "Oh, just wait until the Pats play the Jets again- they're gonna slaughter 'em for payback." Etc, ad nauseum. Blah blah blah. Anything but accepting the truth staring them in the face. They got caught cheating, and they would be punished.

Finally, after everything was said and done, a FEW Pats fans here accepted that their team screwed the pooch, digested the punishment, and moved on. Good for them, seriously. Those fans are being reasonable.

As for the rest of the whinebags who are still rankled that their team got caught, and haven't been able to shut up about it for the last several days- you're the reason for the perceived notion of toolish Pats fans in the SP. The sad thing is that the Patriot Tool had nearly become an extinct species around here after their last SB win. Too bad that it's making a comeback.

After hearing of the news I heard A-Rod on the NY Yankees said he don't see anything wrong with what the Jets done.

Amazing, isn't it? A team using a video camera to tape another team during a game is 20x the story of a mobbed-up official fixing games.

Sorry T-bone, but they are a lot worse than most every team's fans. Of all the Pats fans who have been posting about this stuff, I can really only come up with two names off the top of my head who haven't acted like tools a large percentage of the time... those two being you and bostonfred. (edit to add: There may be others who I'm forgetting, not saying EVERY single Pats poster is a tool, just there's a lot of them). You've both, IMHO, expressed reasonable views and accepted reasonable opinions back. You have seemed to me to express that you recognize that the furor is more than the Browns would have gotten, but that there is legitimate cause for people think what was done wasn't right. But the original post is a prime example of the kind of ridiculous stand that has been the vast majority of patriot fans. If the guy had come in and said:

As a Pats fan with everything that's happened, you can't help but take a little enjoyment at seeing someone call out the Jets for a rule infraction, even if it's an in game one.
... and you'd have found most people on the board understanding and agreeing. But no. It has to be ridiculously cast in a light as if it is more than it is, one more in an endless string of "other people cheat so that justifies BB!".I think the FBG "good poster" to "tool" ratio for most teams is about 70/30 in favor of good posters, which is outstanding for an internet message board. The Pats I easily believe reverse that ratio. I don't believe the posters of most of the pro-pats stuff in those threads would have believed what they were saying if it had come from someone on another team. Further, a lot of the stuff went far behond "not believe" to being too ridiculous to believe anyone could accept it as a valid point. That's the definition of a tool there.

I'll agree with you though that it isn't exactly a great thing to have in the Shark Pool. I'll even say I took some time before submitting my post because I generally don't try to further fire storms. But the bigger problem to me is the sheer amount of toolishness, and not that people recognize it and recognize it's a lot higher percentage of one team's posters than it is others. And so pointing that out maybe isn't a bad thing.

the NE fan reaction is really fairly simple. we're not making excuses for our team's actions or comparing the degree of illegality to anything the have Pats done. Its not an attempt at diversion. Its not apologistic. its kicking the guy in the balls while he's lying on the ground bleeding. doesnt make it right. doesnt have to be wrong. the Jets are a team in trouble and there's definitely blood in the water. any decent Pats fan is going to pile on. BUT THEN LET IT GO.

I feel bad for those guys. Guys like Boston end up lumped in with everyone else and that's just not fair. Those guys not only were embarassed by the team that they love, but then were embarassed by the reactions of their fellow fans. I really have to give those guys their props.

They are the only ones who got caught...after being warned not to do such things.
