NFL Draft Safety Rankings (1 Viewer)

Top 15 Safeties + Best of the Rest

I'll be ranking every position between now and the draft - I'd love to hear opinions on the players mentioned (or not mentioned).

This safety class lacks the Sean Taylor/LaRon Landry uberstud, but it should yield at least 3-4 solid starters, and William Moore might be a great player depending on which version of him shows up in the pros.

Very nice article SB....I agree the top 4 are pretty much in one tier & the rest a notch below. I'd probably flip Chung & Delmas only because of level of competition & I am concerned that Delmas will get injured (the Sanders comparison is a valid one IMO) at the Pro Level, if he continues to throw his body around the way we saw in the post season practices/game.

Obviously which Moore shows up will make a big difference too. He would have been #1 on almost any pre/mid- season Safety ranking. I do think he deserves to be third due to the question marks raised in the offseason though.

Again, NICE job as always. Looking forward to the next set....

I flipped Chung and Delmas at least twice before releasing the rankings. I put Delmas on top just because he doesn't have the potential to be a liability in coverage like Chung - Delmas can work in any scheme, Chung will have to be protected a bit. They both project as terrific pros and they have tons of intangibles and character stuff in their favor. Any fan should be happy if either is their team's 2nd round pick, and I wouldn't fault a team (even the Steelers, Ryan Clark is going to be an FA next year) for taking one of them in the late first.

Nice job Sig,

Any thoughts about Moore possibly being a Roy Williams redux? One of my favorite things to do once I finish my film study is to buy the draft mags and read the online stuff to see what others are saying.

The Sporting News is always entertaining and I noticed they mentioned Moore as a guy who frequently gets beat deep. Is this something that is a speed issue or a recognition issue?

Plus they have Derek Pegues No. 1 on their board and compare him to Donte Whitner. Do you see the comparison and did you drop him more because he was a 'tweener or because of his character issues?
