NFL dress code (1 Viewer)

BGP

Indians Fever
I heard on the radio this morning that:

+ Chad Johnson got in trouble for a uniform violation this past weekend. Another example of the strict regulations on apparel that have been in place for years.

however...

+ Nice Saban wanted to wear a suit during games as head coach of the Dolphins, and the NFL denied his request (probably because a suit does advertise NFL apparel).

+ Bill Belichick dresses like a homeless person during games, but its ok. (probably because his rags are NFL apparel).

The coaching dress code seem a bit out of whack to me.

BGP, what you might be forgetting is these people are thought of as billboards. In year's past Nike would pay a ton to have them wear this or that. Reebok would, Converse etc(naming shoe companies for example) At some point the NFL said STOP! They need a uniform look.

Remember back in the 80s, players wore headbands with words on em'.

NFL said STOP! everyone must wear the same thing.

Other "problems" were initials of some that passed away on helmets.

NFL said STOP! everyone must wear the same thing.

If anything, IMO, the players drove them to this obvious conclusion. Obvious because with all their money they ought to at least look good to start the game. If a player is filthy by the end of the game, part of me thinks he must be a hardworker then and wear that slop with pride.

I wonder if at some point players and coaches will have to be shaven and have their hair cut to a certain length. In other threads, getting whipped around by that long hair has been brought up so how hard would it be for the NFL to play that as a safety issue? I have to shave for work everyday, don't you? I wouldn't find that weird for some reason. Though with my family's military background, not shaving was like an insult to them or somesuch.

I cracked up when I saw Belichicks sleeveless sweatshirt Monday. Hes got the slobby look down pat (no pun intended).I think he does it just to piss off the NFL, much like his injury report hijinx. It IS a joke for the NFL to not allow coaches to wear suits.

I agree, what happened to the old history of the game with guys like Lombardi, Landry and Eubank walking the sidelines in suits? Hell, even Madden wore a shirt and tie...and thats not allowed??!!But Belichick looking like Andrew Dice Clay with cut-off sweatshirts is allowable? The NFL is gettin too high on itself and is taking away the fun of the game. Reggie can't wear gold cleats, Chad can't wear a nickname in warmups, Plummer can't wear a sticker in honor of Tillman but Belichick can look like a bum?? Gimme a break...these players take a pounding week in week out....let em have some fun with it!

Belichick doesn't dress like a bum, he dresses like we all do on a Sunday. This is football, not the office.
