NFL Game Pass is not available if you live in the States (without connecting through a proxy server). I can offer no input regarding connecting via a proxy server nor using Chromecast (I would love it if they added a Roku App).
When I was overseas several years ago, I subscribed, and Game pass worked well. My internet was dodgy at times; however, that is no reflection upon the service. I tended not to watch the games live, as they began at 4 am Monday morning, but all of the games were available in Rewind mode, including condensed versions of the game.
I continue to subscribe to Preseason Live and Game Rewind here in the states. There have been a few hiccups along the way. Last preseason, I missed out on some of the games because NFL.com's system was down for the Preseason Week 1 games, but when I called, they credited me a full refund and gave me the rest of the preseason free.
One of the coolest features in any of these packages is the condensed games feature. You can watch an entire game in about 30 minutes. You see every play, with huddles and lulls in action edited out.
For fantasy purposes, I find the search features especially helpful: if you want to watch only the plays a particular player touched the ball, you enter the player's name, identify the search criteria, and it pulls up plays involving strictly that player (you can search an individual game or the entire season). One caveat, however: while the search feature is a very useful tool, it does come with some troubling issues. (1) You search a player by last name only; while that works well for players with less common names such as Mathews, Sankey or Eifert, it is not as effective a search tool for a more common name such as Johnson. (2) Sometimes the plays are not accurately synced up. The search takes you to the wrong point in the game (very annoying).
I agree with others that the auto-renew feature can be a pain, but if you call and speak to a representative, they can cancel the auto-renew.
