NFL MVP > Chris Johnson have a shot? (1 Viewer)

If CJ fades down the stretch its' a lock for Brees most likely. That said, what if CJ breaks 2000 yards rushing? What if he sets the record? I find it hard to believe he's not in serious consideration for the award if he keeps on at this pace and gets 2400+ yards.

Thoughts?

Depends what school of thought you subscribe to: Does MVP mean the best stats? Or does it mean the person who has great stats and has it result in a winning franchise?

Because CJ is amazing, it's true, but they didn't start winning until Young was behind center. So, like Steven Jackson, it might be hard to consider him MVP when it's not translating to team success, unlike a Brees or Manning.

Unlikely if the Titans miss the playoffs. Jamal Lewis broke 2000 yards and finished 4th in the balloting on a team that went 10-6 and won their division.

Yep. CJ is the most valuable Titan, but if they don't make the playoffs even if he sets the record, he's unlikely to win it with Peyton, Brees and Favre having great years for the best teams.

If CJ breaks either Faulk's total yards record and/or Dickerson's rushing record, he definitely deserves the award. I don't care if Tenn makes the playoff or not.

As anarchy explained, not likely for CJ.

BTW Brees won't get as many votes because Chargers fans will still say Rivers is better

Also, same week Young started, Titans secondary got healthy-not all young. They were rolling out the welcome mat for WRs.

Exactly. This is an extremely difficult year for winning the MVP. Last year, CJ would have had a shot with 2K yards. This year, he'll be lucky to finish higher than 4th.
