The regular season was over 2 weeks ago for the Colts while Woodson and others played. It would be a crime IMO to give it to Manning who played in 14 games compared to some of the others. I respect that the Colts took care of business and had the option to rest players, but they need to be aware that choosing that option comes with consequences. They lost the chance to go undefeated and turned Peyton Manning from the front runner of the MVP to a guy who finishes 3rd IMO. Send the message that EVERY GAME COUNTS. If you give that MVP to Manning, don't even bother looking into the problem of resting players.Charles Woodson is your man!Nopw taht teh regular season is over.....Who you got ??
I really like Chris Johnson but I need to be sold on why his team who was only average this year at best should be MVP? I understand that they wouldn't be average without him, they'd be bad but when I think of MVP, I really don't think of a guy who plays on that kind of team. I think if the Titans were in the wild card or division champs then he'd have a shot, I really don't think it's because he's not a QB.I know he achieved 2000 yards, how have the other guys who earned 2000 faired in the MVP vote and what records did those teams have those years those Rb's got 2000 yards?CJ earned it and he really is the most valuable player but because RBs rarely win it, it will be Peyton.
BTW, nobody listened to me the year Charles Woodson won the Heisman Trophy either. They said a defenseman never wins the Heisman until the man in Maze and Blue was holding up the award. To me, there's about 4 QB's who all played about the same when considering everything. You telling me Rivers outplayed Manning, or Manning outplayed Rodgers etc....they all did fine and all have their drawbacks.Charles Woodson......at the end of the Green Bay game, they introduced him in front of the team in the lockeroom for tying or breaking the franchise record for INT's after he picked one off and returned it to the house today and the entire team chanted MVP, MVP, MVP.IT wasn't Aaron Rodgers they were chanting for, it was Charles Woodson. The guy played lights out all season long, give it to the defense! The regular season was over 2 weeks ago for the Colts while Woodson and others played. Sure, he's lumped in there with all the other QB's who played just about the same, even throw Tony Romo in there if you want. Charles WoodsonSo no one thinks a 40 year old QB who had over 4000 yards, tied for 2nd in TDs (33), had the least ints out of starters who played 16 games (7), was 2nd in passer rating, and led his team to a 12-4 record deserves to be even considered for MVP?
Would u put favre ahead of any of those candidates ? and if so which ?So no one thinks a 40 year old QB who had over 4000 yards, tied for 2nd in TDs (33), had the least ints out of starters who played 16 games (7), was 2nd in passer rating, and led his team to a 12-4 record deserves to be even considered for MVP?
I know it's not broken down like this, but the Titans were one of the top teams the last 10 games of the season. I also agree with you as far as how voters will likely vote that record counts. All I'm saying is he was the best player this year and made the biggest difference for his team. Granted, I'm a homer.I really like Chris Johnson but I need to be sold on why his team who was only average this year at best should be MVP? He makes a fair point, Favre will get many votes. Hell, if there's any backlash against the Colts for weeks 16 and 17, he just may win it.Would u put favre ahead of any of those candidates ? and if so which ?So no one thinks a 40 year old QB who had over 4000 yards, tied for 2nd in TDs (33), had the least ints out of starters who played 16 games (7), was 2nd in passer rating, and led his team to a 12-4 record deserves to be even considered for MVP?
Id probably put him in for this year over Rodgers for the MVP based on beating GB twice and winning the division.Though...both should be talked about...but both should be behind Manning and Rivers and Johnson.Would u put favre ahead of any of those candidates ? and if so which ?So no one thinks a 40 year old QB who had over 4000 yards, tied for 2nd in TDs (33), had the least ints out of starters who played 16 games (7), was 2nd in passer rating, and led his team to a 12-4 record deserves to be even considered for MVP?
I don't see what his age has to do with anything. And no, it's between Rivers, Peyton, and Johnson. Favre and Brees are out due to their end of the season losses.Manning is likely to get it, but I think all three are pretty deserving. So no one thinks a 40 year old QB who had over 4000 yards, tied for 2nd in TDs (33), had the least ints out of starters who played 16 games (7), was 2nd in passer rating, and led his team to a 12-4 record deserves to be even considered for MVP?
I agree with this and I think MVP should come from a team that makes the playoffs.IMO Chris Johnson is offensive player of the year, though. 2,000 yards rushing is a great accomplishment.I really like Chris Johnson but I need to be sold on why his team who was only average this year at best should be MVP? I think his age is a consideration, just the same reason why people will say CJ won't win it because his team didn't make the playoffs.Sure 2.5 of his last 4 games the team didn't do well, but he turned the team from good to really good. He's ahead of Rodgers and Rivers for sure.I don't see what his age has to do with anything. And he would still be behind Rivers and Manning for sure...Johnson as well IMO.Brees IMO hurt himself too much the last 2 months. This poll is flawed you need to add Favre because:His 33 touchdown passes are the most since his MVP years in the mid-1990s while a member of the Packers. His 107.2 quarterback rating marked the first time he'd exceeded 100 for a season in his career while his 68.4% completion percentage is also a personal best. His 4,202 passing yards were the third-most in his career, and he's now 671 shy of becoming the first NFL quarterback to reach 70,000 passing yards.
If you break the yards from scrimmage record and are one of six backs in history to run for 2000 yards, I think you should be MVP.
If Chris Johnson doesn't win this award they should simply change the name to QB of the year award. Peyton deserves it if in a big way but CJ broke the yards from scrimmage record, end of discussion.Faulk (who held the YFS record) didn't win the year he broke the record. It has nothing to do with QB vs. RB. The Titans were .500 and finished 3rd in their division. Wins and losses matter in MVP balloting. If you break the yards from scrimmage record and are one of six backs in history to run for 2000 yards, I think you should be MVP.If Chris Johnson doesn't win this award they should simply change the name to QB of the year award. It never ceases to amaze me how short the memory of NFL fans are. I figure its the length of time between games, too much time to think. Brees had the best season(edit to add among QBs), from week 1 to week 17(16 in this case).CJ had the best season, but won't win. This poll is flawed you need to add Favre because:His 33 touchdown passes are the most since his MVP years in the mid-1990s while a member of the Packers. You would be wrong . he is added nowNot having Favre on this poll is silly and is probably done as a fishing trip anyway. While I would personally give it to Rivers or Manning ahead of him, he's very obviously on the short list of the top candidates.

Charles Woodson
Woodson has not even been the most valuable player at his position. Revis has been better this season.IMO the problem for Johnson is that the team was 0-6 before Young took over. It could easily be argued that Young was the Titans' MVP, which IMO precludes Johnson from being league MVP.I know it's not broken down like this, but the Titans were one of the top teams the last 10 games of the season. I also agree with you as far as how voters will likely vote that record counts. All I'm saying is he was the best player this year and made the biggest difference for his team. Personally I would rank them as such:1. Rivers2. Manning3. Favre4a. Brees4b. RodgersJohnson is after these guys, because a guy on an 8-8 team has no real chance
I voted Rivers, but I expect Manning to win.The issue is yards from scrimmage record AND 2000 yards rushing. May never be done again, who knows. MVP no doubt.Faulk (who held the YFS record) didn't win the year he broke the record. Chris Johnson is the first 2,000 yard rusher to play for a team that did not not make the playoffs.Faulk (who held the YFS record) didn't win the year he broke the record. Then it should be a QB award. Vikings won two more games with Favre over T.Jackson. How many games did Chris Johnson win for the Titans? It's a team sport and one player can't control it all.Johnson had a great year, but you can't be the MVP if your team doesn't even make the playoffs. A great QB is worth a lot more than a great RB. I think Manning is the easy selection here because his team was one of the best in the league almost entirely because of him. Take him away from that team and they don't sniff the playoffs. The same is probably true of Rivers and Brees, but I think they have a little more talent around them than Manning does.
you think wrongThe same is probably true of Rivers and Brees, but I think they have a little more talent around them than Manning does.
