I am trying to start a yearly contest where we auction off all 32 NFL Teams in the beginning of the season and then payout winnings based on the amount of money collected.
Teams would be paid for: Wins, Wildcard winners, Division winners, Advancing to the Conference Championships, advancing to the Super Bowl and winning the Superbowl.
I was wondering if anyone has done this before and what type of percentages were used for the payouts.
Obviously something has to be given for wins to encourage people to bid on the bad teams. The favorites would drive the totals based on the opportunity to advance farther and win more money.
Also, how do you determine what order teams are auctioned?
With a few teams coming out of nowhere each season, I thought this could be a pretty interesting contest. We have used the idea over the last few years in the NCAA Tournament and it has been great fun.
Sorry if this should be posted in a different forum.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
