NFL Thursday Night Opener (1 Viewer)

Interesting, most thought it would be Denver or Cincy. Apparently the NFL thinks Culpepper will be ready to go.

NOTE -- The NFL will announce today that the Miami Dolphins will play the Steelers to kick off the season Thursday night, Sept. 7, at Heinz Field. The Dolphins, who did not make the playoffs last season, last week acquired quarterback Daunte Culpepper from the Minnesota Vikings. The Steelers' players and coaches will receive their Super Bowl rings that night.

Culpepper won't be back.

(Apparantly the NFL wants to see the Steelers dominate a Joey Harrington?-led Dolphins team)

AS a Dolphin fan, it is nice to see us back in primetime. However, if we win this one, it will be a testament to saban as a coach because there is No way c pep will be ready. Could it be tommy maddox's return to Pittsburg? While I think the fins will be good this year, I would have rather taken on Pitt later in the season.

The big question is would you rather face a tough opponent in week 1 or week "8?"My take is that I would rather face the toughest opponent in week 1 unless you are cearly hands down the best team in the league. More upsets happen in week one than any week because teams are just not ready yet. I expect and hope the Dolphins to be a playoff team this year. staying healthy and getting C-pep healthy will play a big role in how far they go, but I am ok with a tough one to start. Now if C-pep isn't ready then that hurts...that being said pulling a victory in week 1 without C-pep because Pitt wasn't ready to play puts the team way ahead of the game. I am cool with it

Remember how many people said a re-building Miami Dolphin team w/o a stud QB didn't have a chance against Denver back in Week 1?Personally, I think that wake-up call loss was the thing that propelled Denver to focus for the rest of the season.

Also, remember last year Pittsburg was 7-5 at one point so getting them early in the season may be Miami's best opportunity at a win.

Steelers couldn't beat Ravens when they got a fair game called. They won't beat Dolphins either!
December 24, 2005: Pittsburgh 41, Cleveland 0 :lmao:
Cleveland should consider it a Christmas present that it was only 41-0. It was one of the ugliest games I can remember, and felt more like 86 to -10.

The NFL see more worried about "the story" than the game.

I mean last year with Moss to Oakland and no this year Culpepper in Miami.

BSS Prediction too: Miami vs Detroit on Thanksgiving. Detroit is on the AFC game this year and the only other choice is Buffalo.

That's a virtual lock (sorry, Bills fans). Maybe the game can be competitive for at least a half this year, unlike the last 2 Lions Turkey Day games.

I think this may be one of the best new traditions in the NFL. You Pittsburg Season ticket holders really have something to look forward too.

I would love to see NFL streach out schedule to allow more featured games National televised but it will never happen. They have a hard enough time with the one Monday night game a week because of the three hour East/West time zone difference. Won't complete against College time frame or High School. But it would be nice as heck having a Thursday night game of the week every week. Doubleheader on weekend nights. The more games live I get to see entirely the happier I am!
