NFL Trivia (1 Viewer)

As a head coach, or just coaching in general?

If if is the latter, Mike Shanahan would have to be one of them, as he coached Montana and Young in SF, and Elway in Denver.

Edit: Okay, just reread the title. Ignore this.

George Halas
conzelman, driscoll, luckman
I didn't consider Conzelman or Driscoll as QBs, since they didn't really pass the ball. But the HOF website lists them as QBs, so I won't really argue. Pre-modern era players can be tough to gauge.Halas was one of the guys I was thinking of, but Blanda (a guy who arguably isn't in the HOF based on his play as a QB alone) and Bobby Layne were the guys I was thinking of in addition to Luckman.

His name escapes me, but the Rams coach in the 50s who coached Bob Waterfield and Norm Van Brocklin. What was his name and where else did he coach? In Detroit with Bobby Layne?

It appears that Buck Shaw coached Tittle with the Niners('50-'53), Jurgensen('58-'60)and Van Brocklin(also '58-'60) with the Eagles.

Clark Sahaughnessy (Waterfield, Van Brocklin, Luckman) ??

Joe Stydahar -- who is himself in the HOF as a LT for Halas' Bears -- was the coach. He later coached the Cardinals and Charley Trippi who is in the HOF and played some QB but was mostly a runner. He's in the HOF as a running back and he wasn't a QB when Stydahar coached, so I personally wouldn't count him.

Weeb Ewbank had Y.A Tittle, Unitas, and Namath I believe
Tittle and Ewbank never crossed paths. Tittle played for the "old" Baltimore Colts, but not the Weeb Ewbank Colts. More on that topic, generally, here.
Ok unitas finished his career in san diego on the same roster as Dan Fouts. Who was the coach? Sid Gillman? Who else did he coach?
Gillman coached NVB and SD for a lot of years, but he left in '71. Fouts and Unitas both came to SD in 1973, where the team had as many wins as HOF QBs. They went through two HCs, too: Harland Svare and Ron Waller. Waller never coached again while Svare coached Roman Gabriel and the Rams in the '60s. Gabriel's got a good HOF case, but he's not yet in.

Ok a few more guesses

Bum Phillips with Tarkenton, Moon and.....

George Allen?

Landry with Staubach, aikman and Merrideth?

Thats all i have - these are great questions Chase.

George Seifert coached Montana and Young with the Niners.

He also was the DB coach at Oregon when Fouts was there, and at Stanford when Elway was a freshman, but that probably isn't what you're looking for.

Landry never coached Aikman. He was fired in Feb., 1989.Aikman was Jimmy Johnson's first ever draft pick. April, 1989.

OK I got it Chase (I think).

George Halas coached Sid Luckman with the Bears in the 40's and George Blanda in the 50's. Bobby Layne also played one season in Chicago in 1948 under Halas.

So?

Did we ever get a ruling on this? I wasted more time reading about this than I care to admit...
I thought it was clear from my posts, but if not, sorry.

Shula-Unitas-Griese-Marino is correct.
