NFLN Jamie Duke's Mock Draft (1 Viewer)

Not quite as bad as Corey Chavous last year, and his "Reggie McNeal is the most talented player in the draft" proclaimation. But still, Peterson 12th???

If he falls to 8 I think you are going to see Buffalo and Green Bay scrambling over each other to try to move up to get him.

Dukes is not the only so called "expert" that has Peterson falling out of the top 10.

Of course I think hif he gets to 10 someone will move up to get him.

Of course I can't see SF taking Ginn that high. And I can't see Carolina going Merriwather (although Dukes says a trade down in this scenario is likely).

the ONLY way AD falls to 12th is if he breaks his leg riding a motorcycle before the draft. if the browns don't take him at 3, someone will trade up to get him, or he's gone at 8 to falcons.

i really don't see quinn at 3 to browns. they still havn't forgotten couch. also, you might as well just go ahead and fire crennel now, if you take quinn at 3.

Its not really that bad of a pick. They could trade down and take Quinn later but I could see them taking him at 3. If Crennel wants to keep his job he needs to perform this year. Not draft AP to sit behind Jamal Lewis. Frye isn't good and IMO Quinn can step right in and perform, or at least a few games in be better than Frye. They need someone to get the ball effectively to Winslow and Edwards. Lots of talent between those two and Frye really hasn't let them live up to their potential. I think if Quinn is there, with their decent defense and Jamal Lewis, they're instantly much much better. OLine/DEF help throughout the rest of the draft helps too.Between all this and connections between Weis/Crennel could make this a lock. Of course, if Weis gives the red light, this won't happen. There will also be plenty of RBs around late. This is a very deep group of great WRs, but there are also plenty of good RBs that can be ahd in the 3rd+ round. You don't need a guy to play this year anyway so sit on potential. If I'm Crennel I go for the QB here.

30. San Diego: Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee
The Chargers haven't selected a receiver in the first round since 1988. Yet every year most "experts" project them to take one as a knee-jerk reaction.

No way CAR takes Merriweather over Willis...this mock has more flaws than cubic zirconia. :banned:
I second that. It is become more and more clear that Willis will be the pick of the Panthers unless they trade down, which a lot of folks are saying now. Or trade up for Brown, but the asking price may be too high. So look for Willis to be the pick.

What has Peterson done to drop his stock? In fact, Id venture to say that outside of Patrick Willis, LaRon Landry and Chris Houston, no player has done more to help his stock- in this case, allaying any fears about that leg injury that Peterson had. He's a top-5 talent but may not necessarily go as such; but if he falls out of the top-10 then the world WILL turn upside down.

Also, Carolina should really be salivating over Pat Willis at their pick, but if not, as much as it pains me as a Jaguars fan, Reggie Nelson should be next on the pecking order. Reggie made up for a sub-par combine by running an exceptional (low 4.3's) on his pro day. Regardless, he's a freakish athlete and made some huge plays while at UF. While his numbers may be skewed by playing behind a ferocious front-4, there is no debate as to his hard hits and instincts. My only gripe is that he plays the ball more than he does the receiver- but sometimes, that may work out in his interest.

Patrick Willis also is someone who is placed way lower than he should be.

I like the Ugoh pick. He's a road-grader who doesn't have Staley's versatility but IMHO is a better fit to that offense.

Id also much rather see the Colts take a DT like Tank Tyler instead of a DE- that is if I were a Colts fan.

I think that Willis is the one guy who stuck out to me in this draft as being WAY too low. I wouldn't be surprised to see him slip into the Top 10.

players always fall. bush at 2, lineart at 9, adam rogers to 22, etc. when you look at the needs of the 11 teams, and the caliber of the other prospects, is it really far fetched to see peterson go 12th?rbs in the NFL are a dime a dozen. look at caddilac, ronnie brown, etc.

Peterson > Caddy, Brown, Leinart, Rodgers. Probably better natural running skills than Bush too. Thats why.

AP would NEVER sit behind Jamal Lewis. What is the word on Winslow? Word is his knee issues could affect him being ready for the start of the season. There are plenty of mocks now with AP falling simply by need. There has been so much RB movement, the first team with true need at the position is Buffalo. I think Houston is delusional but they think signing Ahman Green solves their problems. And Cleveland is somewhat less delusional (only because they signed him for only 1 year) but they think J. Lewis solved their immediate problems. If Cleveland wants Quinn, they need to take him by the 6th pick because the Vikings and Dolphins are both a threat to take him.

4. Tampa Bay: Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech -- Defensive ends Simeon Rice and Greg Spires are getting older and Gaines Adams should be the guy, but Calvin Johnson is too tempting to pass up for Jon Gruden, who has and effective but aging Joey Galloway and an inconsistent Mark Clayton as his receiver. My source tells me "it will cost a lot to get the rights to this kid" if someone wanted to trade for the draft rights to Johnson.
Kinda hard to take seriously after reading this.

There will be plenty of upset JaGator fans upset if Jacksnoville passes on UF's Reggie Nelson and takes Willis. Safety is a much more pressing need and this is still a college town (and Weaver is still trying to fill seats).

ETA: No slight meant toward Willis, just trying to explain the local opinion.
