NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (3 Viewers)

Talbot for one. He seems to have shown more to this point than Lehner. Martin Jones seems like a potential #1 but obviously doesn't have much of a track record yet either.
Talbot is not young, and has 1 year before becoming a UFA. He also put up his numbers playing on one of the elite teams in the league.
 Goalies take longer to develop so I tend to categorize them as "young" longer than I would a forward, but I take your point.
While the numbers Talbot put up are obviously not sustainable long term, his overall play wasn't a fluke and it wasn't because of the defense. He's going to be very good for whoever gets him next season.

Talbot as NYR's No. 1: .906 SV% and 2.80 GAA in 12 games in Feburary; .946 SV% and 1.66 GAA in 12 games in March. This is why I'm not sold.
What is this supposed to be telling me? He struggled when first getting the increased workload. Wouldn't it be more concerning if the numbers were reversed?

maybe you can ask Dan Rosen. I think he's saying the sample size of great play is small and may have been a hot streak.

Nah I'll pass. Just figured that since you posted that in response to me saying "while the numbers aren't sustainable..." you were trying to tell me something besides that the numbers aren't sustainable.

of course those numbers aren't sustainable. the point is some (including yourself) seem sold on him being a really good goalie and others are less sure.

Still no trade between San Jose and Vancouver on Bieksa, both teams never were able to agree on exact components.... not yet anyway

Just got to work, trying to process all of this.

I have to agree that this must be a play to move up and get Hanifin. Wondering exactly how much this would cost now. That would make me feel better about losing Hamilton, but still need to wrap my head around this and see what else falls.

I wish they had added a bad contract like Kelly into the Calgary deal...

Regardless, I have to admire Sweeney's guts here. This could be a complete admittance that Chiarelli put the team in worse position than believed, and he's not afraid to do a complete 180.

Will it work? Who knows ... but I'm intrigued.

Told that Martin Jones is also going to Boston in Lucic trade once completed....
Why not, it's not like they don't already have Rask, Subban, and just signed McIntyre
Yeah, now it gets even stranger.

Could Rask possibly be on the move? Maybe Subban? Or is Jones a flip in another trade?

Wow ... head spinning here.
Rumor is Lucic, Dougie Hamilton and Subban were seen partying together into the wee hours. Subban next to get shipped out by Sweeney. Lol

Someone might want to tell him that if you're going to fire sale you probably want to make that known. His return had been less than great so far, for whatever the hell he's trying to do
