they did play them together a lot in the playoffs because they got desperate for offense, but not sure that was the norm during the regular season.

Since the midway point of last season, McDavid and Draisaitl sharing the ice together had been restricted to power plays and unique in-game situations: after penalties, last shifts of periods, late in games — especially when trailing.

That all changed March 8, the first time this season McDavid and Draisaitl started the game as linemates, perhaps not coincidentally in a game against Ottawa. Including that contest, the Oilers have played 15 times. McDavid and Draisaitl have played as full-time linemates in 10 of them: five times against Ottawa, twice against Toronto, and once each versus Calgary, Vancouver, and Montreal.

The longest they played together was five consecutive games — and three were against Ottawa.

I watch a ton of Oilers. They switch up in game all the time to load up or seperate McDavid and Draisaitl based on how the game is going, there's not a constant top line (though McDavid almost always plays with PoolParty)

If he was even just below average, they win the series. He was so bad. Isn't the expansion draft this year? Please take that joke off our hands. Sullivan would never let it happen IF he's still there

Isles won without there best player doing anything (Barzal) and without their Captain (Lee).

and they beat the best home ice team twice in their barn.

The Panthers gave it their best effort, but in the end, they just weren’t good enough to beat the defending champs. This rivalry is going to be fun, but now we wait until October for it to resume.

 
Trying to figure out which one of his old buddies Hextall called first last night- Rick Tocchet, John Stevens, or Scott Gordon. 

 
Some people are still whining about Tampa putting Kucherov on LTIR, forgetting that the guy had hip surgery, and also forgetting that half the league did the same thing with LTIR, so that explains why it reeks of hypocrisy now.

 
The league has set the standard pretty tight for goalie interference.  Starting to remind me of 1999 when a to in the blue was called back.   Now it's even the slightest bit of contact.  As long as they are consistent, I suppose, but it could get ugly as we go further into the playoffs.

Of course, it won't matter much to us Hab fans   :oldunsure:

That’s a lot of money for a subpar backup goalie, and they can’t really buy him out, because the cap hits will hit each year for about the next decade. They might be able to get Seattle to bite, but nobody else will.

For what it’s worth, I like the Hurricanes whenever they aren’t playing Tampa. Their fan base is fun, though not quite on Nashville’s level when it comes to chirping other teams in the arena. I do find it interesting that we first had the All-Florida Series, now we have a Storm Series to look forward to. I want Tampa to win, obviously, but I think this series might legitimately go the distance.

Yep. And a lot of his money is tied to signing bonus so a buyout would still cost 5.8 x2 years, 6.8x3 years, 1.8 x5 years. (he'd count on the cap through 2030-31. Bobby Bonilla will still get a Mets check thru 2035)

He has a NMC that he'd have to waive to even be exposed to expansion draft. Would he want to leave a no income tax state?

Seattle will probably find far less onerous "bad contracts" to take on.
