Nicks owners (1 Viewer)

His condition sounds like it will take much longer than the stated 3 weeks to heal.

If you have a short bench can you afford to hold a player who may not see the field again this season? Then again if you dump him to waivers and he comes back maybe you face him in the playoffs.

Im just curious what other owners are doing with him now.

I'm basically already in the playoffs, so I think I might hold to see what news continues to come out. Knowing that Taylor was back in 3 weeks with the same condition gives me a little hope.

My only shot of getting in the playoffs now is to win out and have 2 certain owners lose one along the way...I'm trying to trade him to someone with a spot locked up for another player that can help me get in. If I have to face him in the playoffs then so be it, but I gotta get in first

Own him both my leagues. Yes, only play in 2.

In one league am 10-1, and plenty of depth. But the other league this was a kill shot, as I had an Eli/Nicks/Bradshaw combo. Losing Nicks hurts the other two.

To answer the OP's question, I am holding till Monday and dropping next week. Waivers lock out in our league beginning next week, and I hate for another team to pick him up and use him against me in the playoffs. I am 7-4 in that league and be lucky to hang on to a playoff spot. Losing Nicks was a crushing blow. ;)

Like others above, I'm holding because I'm already locked into a playoff spot. If I hadn't been, I would have strongly considered dropping.

Im pretty much a playoff lock at this point. And our benches are too damn deep, so the WW is baren. Not much sense for me to drop him.

I have him in a keeper league so I'm holding. I do have a playoff spot, but I'm not counting on Nicks to contribute which is gonna hurt (unless I get lucky with his replacement or my opponents have stinker games).

To be honest I was going to drop him for Sydney Rice but after reading your responses and knowing that I am locked into a playoff spot and dont really need WR help , I will hold him for now just to keep him away from my would be playoff opponents. I seriously doubt I will start him in weeks 15 and 16 though coming off an injury like this and going right back against Philly and Green Bay.

DROPPED

I have had other WR injuries and am alarmingly thin, so I need the space for as many 'lottery tickets' (such as White) as I can. I am in 1st, but could be in 4th next week

Have you tried eating a sandwich?I'm hanging onto Nicks in my keeper auction league. Best case scenario: he helps me out in the championship game this season. Worst case scenario I have him relatively cheap next season.

Ya, that's what it came down to for me - could I trust him in my championship game (as that is the earliest I can picture him back)

I couldn't risk having him out there not knowing what to expect

Nod that's my issue and thinking, I going to try trade him for S. Rice or V. Jackson . I even have depth at RB to go out and make bigger trade. (Trade LT). And just grab the backups of my studs.

Dropped him for Manningham. Seemed like a no brainer.

(It is a shallow 12 man roster league that is why Manningham was there.)

As reliable a source as any Head Coach is regarding injuries to his football team, I think I may need something more from the newswire.Personally, holding for now in the only league I am in (10 team redraft). If he goes back under the knife, either to relieve any additional pressure or remove dead muscle tissue, Im cutting him and picking up someone who will play. Moreover, if he does go back under the knife it should most likely happen by Friday or Saturday, so I figure there won't be too long a wait to find out.

Holding in my redraft... for now.

I'm safely in the playoffs but I may drop him if things don't look good or I need the roster spot.

Having read pretty much everything in the Shark Pool about Nick's injury, I'm believing the worst case scenario and don't expect him back for the fantasy playoffs. For that reason I dumped Nicks in two of my redraft leagues and picked up Manningham in Both of them. I will not make playoffs in one of them and have a good shot at making the playoffs in the other.

No brainer for me in 3 of 6 leagues....

HOLD

If he can come back as projected in 3 weeks I'll gladly insert him into my lineup for my Champioship run.

The 3 league I have him in I am 9-2 (1st in Div), 7-4 (1st in Div) + 9-2 (1st in Div/Con and clinched 1st seed)

He single-handedly has me in these positions with the value pick that came with him...no way I could give up on him now. Be loyal to your players and they'll reward you

FYI - nobody EVER says the surgery was unsuccessful until they die.

Holding for now as I am looking good for the playoffs in all my leagues. I will look to make a move in redrafts if he won't make it back for week 16......

My bench is a wasteland right now: Nicks, Best, Mathews, Stewart, Moss. Really want to pick up Donald Brown who was inexplicably dropped but don't want to drop any of these guys for him.

Two nights ago I was going to let him ago. I thought more about his estimated time table (3 weeks). He could come back either a week before or during my leagues championship. I decided to hold on to him due to this reason and also for the fact that one of the owners in my league would likely scoop him up (it might be a small league, but a couple of my friends are absolute vulture's on the ww :)

I just picked him up off waivers for Crabtree. As long as he does not go on IR, I think you would have to be crazy to give up on that kind of upside in the playoffs if (1) you don't need immediate WR help to make the playoffs and (2) your roster size can allow a stash. Then again, I also stashed Romo in that same league.

The point is, we're not doctors, and even if we were, we're not giving these guys a physical examination. We really aren't in a position to second guess a 3 week timeline for a team battling to make the playoffs in a competitive division.

I just traded Ray Rice and some scrubs for Knowshon Moreno, Nicks and A. Benn in my keeper league.

We are TD heavy so getting Knowshon actually helps me because he has double the TDs Rice does and giving up Housh and Mike Thomas to get Nicks and Benn in a keeper was a no brainer for me.

I have Colston, Cal. Johnson and A. Johnson at WR and only start 2 so I can wait out Nicks healing process. I am really looking at next year on this deal with Moreno giving me some RB depth like Rice was doing.

I guess my take is that they said if he needs the 2nd procedure it would be within days and would put him out for the year, so I'm holding through the week for sure.

After that, if everything stays positive I'll hold as long as I have the roster space. I probably wouldn't play him the week he returns unless I'm desperate, buy why wouldn't you hold on to a guy that was a top 2 WR if he could be starting for you weeks 15 and 16? There's no one on the WW, in even my 10 teamers, that is more likely to make the difference on my team.

If he is out 3 weeks, that's weeks 12,13 and 14. It's going to take a week to get him ready (minimun), so that puts him out week 15 too. FF playoffs are weeks 14-16. So basically that means he will be ready for the FF SB. Would people really take that chance without seeing play at least one game ? I know I won't.

Bolded above is an assumption on your part. The stated three weeks would have him playing week 15. If he's starting week 15 he could be a decent gamble (I'd rather not have to do that, but the injuries are mounting and the WW is thin). If he plays week 15 without problems then he would be a start with confidence week 16 if I make the bowl. All depends on your options. In the leagues where I own him, there's no one I see on the WW that I think makes it more likely to win a championship than holding Nicks and seeing what happens.

At the risk of being too brut you either have rocks in your head or one ridicules WR core to drop Nicks at this point. While true there are reports that he might be out longer than 3 weeks that is pure speculation at this point. He's a top 5 WR to date and until I KNOW that he'll be shelved for longer than 3 weeks he'll be on my roster. If he's back in action week 15 he will be in my starting lineup (and I have other decent options). Nicks is matchup proof and if the NYG see fit to have him on the field I won't be sitting him.
