No 2009 Vikings thread? (1 Viewer)

Guess not...I searched Vikings and Minnesota and found nothing for the 2009 season.

I know the Favre situation is consuming the Vikings discussion right now, but I think we need to discuss the running game. Any chance Chester gets significant carries? Any chance he gets startable carries? Is there any way to understand - as an outsider - whether or not Favre is going to continue to be a detriment to the running game? I know it really doesn't make much sense that things would change in week 16, but I would have to think that if the Vikes are up big at the half that Chester would get a ton of touches.

And after each of their first 2 losses this year, the Vikings have bounced back in resounding fashion the following weeks – in big games. Consider…

– Loss #1 for the Vikings came in Week 7 at Pittsburgh. The following week, QB Brett Favre and Co. marched into Lambeau Field in front of a huge national audience and defeated the Green Bay Packers 38-26.

– Loss #2 came at Arizona in Week 13. The following week, the Vikings headed back home and hosted the Cincinnati Bengals, who at the time had the AFC’s 2nd best record. Everyone said it was gut-check time for the Vikings. Well, the Vikings guts checked out well as they dominated the Bengals and won by a 30-10 count.

Now after their 3rd loss, an ugly 26-7 affair at Carolina, the Vikings find themselves in another big spot and in another bounce back game in need of a win.
You'll need to look at Chicago's defense to try and figure out where the Vikings might be able to make their stand on O, though. It's a late night game so the cold will factor in. But the team is more embarrassed than they have been all year with all this Favre / Childress nonsense on top of the horrible road loss @ Carolina. They know they are fighting for a bye week. Chester could end up getting some important touches or a score this week...I don't think things have gotten to where the Vikings can be comfortable enough that Chester ends up splitting carries. They need to wash away the bad taste in their mouths, and I think that will take getting back to what they do best on D and O, which this year hasn't meant a lot of Chester. They could try to shake things up, but I wouldn't count on it in a FF championship.

I'd say at least 65% of the plays are rushing this week. If the weather is colder than expected that could go to 75%..
