If you're looking for rankings that reflect how fast things change in the NFL, the top 250 forward is the last place you should look. I have noticed it is extremely slow to react to the changing in season landscape. One example being a few seasons ago, Willie Parker stayed in the top 5, stubbornly, all season long. I think that was the season he scored one touchdown, never even sniffed the top 10 productive runningbacks on the season.
I just looked at the top 250 forward and thought some of the rankings were absurdly stubborn. A couple examples: Jennings is ranked too high. The Steven Jackson ranking is extremely stubborn. His offense will never allow him to achieve what Dodd's seems to expect, no matter how featured he is. He isn't even performing close to where he continues to be ranked. Vincent Jackson actually dropped two spots from last week to this week, and is ranked well below his production levels so far to date this season. Wes Welker is ranked too low. This isn't 2007. Moss isn't going to score close to 50% of Brady's touchdowns, Welker is going to put up his usual reception and yardage numbers only with 10+ touchdowns. He is currently ranked outside the top ten despite being 2nd in ppg so far this season in non ppr leagues, and he is about as safe a play as there is at WR. Not many I would rather have. They rank Miles Austin way back there. Another example is Bowe. Dodds, i feel, is stubbornly protecting his pre-season overrating of Bowe. He refuses to adjust to the fact that Kansas City has and will continue to have one of the worst offenses in the NFL. It doesn't matter if theyre getting blown out and passing all day, they still don't accumulate any numbers. Desean Jackson is ranked outside the top 10 despite being the top receiver to date in ppg.
I have Jennings and Bowe, so I am naturally inclined to want to see the situations optimistically, but Jennings seems to be more of a decoy this year and Bowe is on one of the worst passing offenses in the NFL. How Bowe manages to move up the rankings one spot from last week to this week is baffling to me. I also have Miles Austin and very highly doubt he will see my bench in favor of Jennings or Bowe going forward, unless things I see proof that they should.
This isn't meant to rip on Dodds or FBG. Simply stating my opinion that if what you want is rankings that adjust more to how fast things change in the NFL, the top 250 isn't going to cut it, you're on your own. Many of the rankings in the top 250 seem to reflect what Dodds thought would happen pre-season more than what has transpired so far this season. They're very optimistically protective of prior opinions.
A few exceptions would be Benson and Ray Rice have really climbed the rankings. Benson maybe a little bit too much. And I have Benson.
Just for the sake of backing up my criticism, here are my rankings. Green indicates upside to outperform my rankings. Performance scoring non ppr

R. Grant
F. Gore
B. Jacobs
R. Williams
S. Jackson
The rest are a complete crapshoot. These are the guys who can be somewhat relied upon for consistent production.
WR's + TE's

Wayne (would be #1 if not for injury concerns. Groins are scary)
D. Jackson
V. Jackson
L. Fitzgerald
M. Colston
Ochocinco
A. Johnson
R. White
M. Austin (could be even better. Potential to put up the #'s TO did as the #1 in Dallas. Don't ignore the evidence)
R. Moss
S. Rice (emerging as Favre's go to guy, should have very beneficial defensive looks due to Peterson theat)
H. Nicks (just wait to see what he does as his superior talent easily phases Manningham into the back seat)
V. Davis
M. Sims-Walker
