GO KNIGHTS!I wonder how much Fox pays NBC to NOT put an NFL games head-to-head against the World Series?!?!?!Does anyone outside of New York or Philadelphia care about the World Series this year?I'll be watching Marshall/UCF.
CBS would have blown a gasket if both GB/Minny games were primetime, no matter the week.what would get a better TV rating on sunday night?GB/Minny(Brett back in GB) or the world seriesNFL does do MLB a favor by not having SNF
now you are just being sillyBaseball = best sport on the planet
I agree. Baseball = No competitive balance. Don't you get tired of watching the same big market teams, with salaries twice as much as some teams, win year after year? I find that boring.now you are just being sillyBaseball = best sport on the planet
Those are the #1 and #4 TV markets so that is a huge percentage of the population that cares. NFL never has a SNF this week, you're acting like this is something new.Does anyone outside of New York or Philadelphia care about the World Series this year?
thiswhat is this baseball thing you speak of?
I guess you missed last season.I agree. Baseball = No competitive balance. Don't you get tired of watching the same big market teams, with salaries twice as much as some teams, win year after year? I find that boring.now you are just being sillyBaseball = best sport on the planet
i wish they would add a thursday or friday night gameI'll take the World Series over football any day.................And I think its about time we wrap up this Sunday Night crapMonday should be the ONLY night of football
he's got $ on itMiles Austin said "watch my Yankees tonight, going up 3 to 1" after he scored his TD. Guess someone outside of NY and Philadelphia care after all.

Tell me about it. This decade the only teams to win the World Series have been the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Angels, Marlins, Red Sox, White Sox, Cardinals and Phillies. And besides those eight, the only other teams to even reach the World Series have been the Mets, Giants, Astros, Tigers, Rockies and Rays.Every year we have to watch these same 14 "big market" teams outspend everyone else. Why even bother?I agree. Baseball = No competitive balance. Don't you get tired of watching the same big market teams, with salaries twice as much as some teams, win year after year? Emphasis on the word past.Darth Cheney said:Baseball is America's Pastime. Football is a Sunday afternoon thing. HTH.
This is a great post. Still, if I'm being honest, I'd probably rather watch GB-MIN than NYY-PHI tonight, now that the Tigers are bounced. Nothing against the baseball at all, just being honest. Probably a lot of guys in this boat.Spartans Rule said:Tell me about it. So you're thinking a lot of guys posting on a football board would prefer to watch football?Still, if I'm being honest, I'd probably rather watch GB-MIN than NYY-PHI tonight, now that the Tigers are bounced. looking forward to my 70's when MLB will no longer exist....it will be an amateur sport once again....
Has any of you?has any of you ever seen the demographics for fans of both sports....in the 18 to 30 bracket, MLB is the lowest rated and least watched major sport. The younger the age group the less they watch baseball. Thank god as I hate baseball.....looking forward to my 70's when MLB will no longer exist....it will be an amateur sport once again....
The three-game average of 10.9/19 is up 42 percent from the 7.7/14 for the opening three games last year and the highest three-game average since a 15.0/25 for the Boston-St. Louis matchup in 2004.PHILADELPHIA — World Series television ratings are at their highest levels in five years.
The New York Yankees' 8-5 win over Philadelphia on Saturday night in Game 3 received a 9.1 rating and 18 share, Fox said Sunday.
It was up 49 percent from the 6.1/13 for the Phillies' 5-4 victory over Tampa Bay in Game 3 last year, which also was delayed by rain. This was the most-watched Saturday Series game since the Chicago White Sox beat Houston 5-3 in the 2005 opener.
Wedneday's spectacular (for Phillies fans) Game 1 of the World Series posted stunning ratings, underscoring the bonanza News Corp.'s (NWS) Fox television network is reaping. Shares of the parent company of The Wall Street Journal and the Fox Business Channel rose 60 cents on Thursday, or 4.43 percent, to $14.14. They've gained 48 percent this year.
Major League Baseball announced today that the 2007 regular season has closed with a record attendance total of 79,502,524, breaking the overall single-season record for the fourth consecutive year. This season's average attendance of 32,785 is the highest in baseball history. Last year's overall record of 76,042,787 (averaging 31,423) had been surpassed during games played on Sunday, Sept. 23. Overall, attendance increased 4.5 percent over the 2006 season.
Major League Baseball announced today that the National League has established a new record for single-season average attendance and seven teams - the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies - each set all-time franchise records for home attendance during the 2008 regular season.

I wonder what this was for the 2009 season. I live in Boston and am shocked that despite the recession ticket prices have not come down and games are still always sold out. Can't imagine it was the same in many other cities.Major League Baseball announced today that the National League has established a new record for single-season average attendance and seven teams - the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies - each set all-time franchise records for home attendance during the 2008 regular season.

Well, I have no problem with the level of obsession. It's just at the expense of everything else that's concerning. If I find a person who doesn't appreciate baseball, my default is to assume that something is very, very wrong with that person.Frostillicus said:The level of obsession some of you people have with football is terrifying.![]()
Miles Austin is actually A-Rod. as for the no Sunday Night Football thing, meh, i can usually take it or leave it, unless its my Cowboys or a really good matchup. after morning and afternoon games, and beer, and food, i'm ready for a nap come Sunday night.now, next Sunday nights' game is the game of the week. Dallas going to Philly for control of the NFC East!!! doenst get much better than that.Doctor Detroit said:Miles Austin said "watch my Yankees tonight, going up 3 to 1" after he scored his TD. funny...I actually believe just the opposite. I assume that something must be very wrong with someone who prefers to watch baseball vs football. Hell, I would prefer to watch peewee football, women's soccer and even the winter olympics than watch one game of baseball...what a boring sport (should baseball even be considered a sport?) it seems like their season starts in dec and ends on nov...what a joke...do you REALLY have to play 7000 games in a season? Multiply that by 4 hrs a game...wow...what a waste of time...Well, I have no problem with the level of obsession. It's just at the expense of everything else that's concerning.
