I wonder how much Fox pays NBC to NOT put an NFL games head-to-head against the World Series?!?!?!

Does anyone outside of New York or Philadelphia care about the World Series this year?

I'll be watching Marshall/UCF.

Damn I didn't even realize until you posted this. I hate baseball so much. Why not do the world series when there's nothing else going on like in June.

Too bad its not going to rain tonight. Got to love baseball in Nov. The boys of summer playing in the low 40s.....

GO KNIGHTS!

what would get a better TV rating on sunday night?

GB/Minny(Brett back in GB) or the world series

NFL does do MLB a favor by not having SNF

CBS would have blown a gasket if both GB/Minny games were primetime, no matter the week.

Those are the #1 and #4 TV markets so that is a huge percentage of the population that cares. NFL never has a SNF this week, you're acting like this is something new.

I've said for years that they should just bump this same thread every season. Hilarious how it pops up, on cue, every year.

I'll take the World Series over football any day.................

And

I think its about time we wrap up this Sunday Night crap

Monday should be the ONLY night of football

Miles Austin said "watch my Yankees tonight, going up 3 to 1" after he scored his TD. Guess someone outside of NY and Philadelphia care after all.

Baseball = best sport on the planet
now you are just being silly
I agree. Baseball = No competitive balance. Don't you get tired of watching the same big market teams, with salaries twice as much as some teams, win year after year? I find that boring.
Tell me about it. This decade the only teams to win the World Series have been the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Angels, Marlins, Red Sox, White Sox, Cardinals and Phillies. And besides those eight, the only other teams to even reach the World Series have been the Mets, Giants, Astros, Tigers, Rockies and Rays.Every year we have to watch these same 14 "big market" teams outspend everyone else. Why even bother?

This is a great post. Still, if I'm being honest, I'd probably rather watch GB-MIN than NYY-PHI tonight, now that the Tigers are bounced. Nothing against the baseball at all, just being honest. Probably a lot of guys in this boat.

:lmao: Why not broadcast both and give us a choice?

Baseball baaalowwwwwsss. It's Nov. for petes sake!!! Why not shave off 10 or 15 games off a 162 game season and have this beisbol thing wrapped up in the early middle part of Oct.?

This is football season! This is mans season!! The season for watching 9 guys sit in a dugout eating sunflower seeds and then watching another 9 guys standing around in a park was last season. Beisbol is the weakest sauce of all sports!!!

So you're thinking a lot of guys posting on a football board would prefer to watch football?

Baseball is the suck. On the scifi channel they are showing the V miniseries.

Needless to say I choose crappy special effects and bad acting over baseball.

has any of you ever seen the demographics for fans of both sports....in the 18 to 30 bracket, MLB is the lowest rated and least watched major sport. The younger the age group the less they watch baseball. Thank god as I hate baseball.....looking forward to my 70's when MLB will no longer exist....it will be an amateur sport once again....

Has any of you? Please show your work for the demographics and popularity as it compares to other sports. While you are digging here are some facts, jack:

PHILADELPHIA — World Series television ratings are at their highest levels in five years.

The New York Yankees' 8-5 win over Philadelphia on Saturday night in Game 3 received a 9.1 rating and 18 share, Fox said Sunday.

It was up 49 percent from the 6.1/13 for the Phillies' 5-4 victory over Tampa Bay in Game 3 last year, which also was delayed by rain. This was the most-watched Saturday Series game since the Chicago White Sox beat Houston 5-3 in the 2005 opener.
The three-game average of 10.9/19 is up 42 percent from the 7.7/14 for the opening three games last year and the highest three-game average since a 15.0/25 for the Boston-St. Louis matchup in 2004.
Wedneday's spectacular (for Phillies fans) Game 1 of the World Series posted stunning ratings, underscoring the bonanza News Corp.'s (NWS) Fox television network is reaping. Shares of the parent company of The Wall Street Journal and the Fox Business Channel rose 60 cents on Thursday, or 4.43 percent, to $14.14. They've gained 48 percent this year.
Major League Baseball announced today that the 2007 regular season has closed with a record attendance total of 79,502,524, breaking the overall single-season record for the fourth consecutive year. This season's average attendance of 32,785 is the highest in baseball history. Last year's overall record of 76,042,787 (averaging 31,423) had been surpassed during games played on Sunday, Sept. 23. Overall, attendance increased 4.5 percent over the 2006 season.
Major League Baseball announced today that the National League has established a new record for single-season average attendance and seven teams - the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies - each set all-time franchise records for home attendance during the 2008 regular season.

Get over yourselves. Most of us do like baseball and are interested in the World Series.
Most of who? Americans, Football Fans, I don't think so.

I wonder what this was for the 2009 season. I live in Boston and am shocked that despite the recession ticket prices have not come down and games are still always sold out. Can't imagine it was the same in many other cities.

It didn't even occur to me that SNF wouldn't be on tonight. After Football Night in America ended, I came back to find a really long ad for National Treasure on. Eventually I realized it wasn't an ad.

Well, I have no problem with the level of obsession. It's just at the expense of everything else that's concerning. If I find a person who doesn't appreciate baseball, my default is to assume that something is very, very wrong with that person.

Dallas going to Philly for control of the NFC East!!! doenst get much better than that.

funny...I actually believe just the opposite. I assume that something must be very wrong with someone who prefers to watch baseball vs football. Hell, I would prefer to watch peewee football, women's soccer and even the winter olympics than watch one game of baseball...what a boring sport (should baseball even be considered a sport?) it seems like their season starts in dec and ends on nov...what a joke...do you REALLY have to play 7000 games in a season? Multiply that by 4 hrs a game...wow...what a waste of time...

Where did these teams rank in salary during the years that they won?
