Non-wall immigration reform... (1 Viewer)

This is where I struggle.  Why aren't the laws already in place being enforced? I think both sides should just agree on doing that and forget the wall.
Because they don't have the :moneybag:  in place to support it.  It's embarrassing what our borders look like and how poorly they are staffed to get people processed in a timely fashion.
A valid point, but sorta switching topics. The laws being discussed (in the quoted post) regard employing illegal immigrants.

But, since I'm here, anybody know if e-verify is proving to be effective, ineffective, barely used, etc.?

ETA: @parasaurolophus thoughts?

My only knowledge about e-verify is anecdotal. We had an employee with fake documents. When we switched to everify is how we found out.

Funding to monitor/prosecute the companies comes from the same underfunded bucket that is supposed to be supporting our borders unless something's changed in the last few years.  It's all tied together.  I can't help but wonder what kind of impact $25 billion would have to help support all the existing laws.  It has to be rather large and far more effective than allowing everything in place to deteriorate further while building walls in areas they would have minimal effectiveness.

Maybe we could get The Trump Organization to first stop hiring noncitizens. That would seem like the first logical step.

Shouldn't he be setting an example?
