In your Miami commentary you mention that Crowder shouldn't be considered a starter at this point, but you rank him #23 overall which is at worst a decent #3 in a 12 team league. I'm just curious as to why there is the discrepency. Thanks

John doesn't always check in here, so you might want to try emailing him with questions at norton@footballguys.commy interpretation of his comments are that the Dolphins have a good matchup this week and he figured Crowder would be the starting MLB this week so would be worth a start this week, but he's not too confident in him given how little he has produced the past couple weeks.however, it now looks like Thomas is expected to play this week...so I think you have to bump Crowder down a lot.

The funny thing is, when Zach was playing a few weeks ago, Crowder was getting 10 tackles per game. Then when Zach got hurt, Crowder was getting around 4 tackles per game. Maybe Crowder moved from OLB to MLB when Zach got hurt and did worse than when he was playing OLB, which is where he will be moving back too now that Zach is back in the lineup.

it's very strange that he would move to MLB and do so much worse...it's not like he's even considered a "natural" at WLB and was playing out of position in the middle as he played MLB in college and was drafted to eventually replace Thomas. Sometimes, young linebackers have trouble shedding blocks when playing in the middle and actually do better operating out in space where they can chase down plays with less interference. So, maybe that's what's happening with Crowder now. If so, it makes sense that he could see a return to form with the move back outside.
