Not good Rich Harden news... (1 Viewer)

Ouch, from Rotoworld...

Rich Harden reportedly has a sprained UCL in his right elbow, which is the same injury that has sidelined A.J. Burnett all season.

Trainer Larry Davis indicated that Harden won't need surgery, but it will likely knock him out for several months at the least. "He was still throwing 97 mph,'' manager Ken Macha said. "Mind-boggling.''

At least it's a different injury than what kept him away the first time.

DL trip 1: oblique

DL trip 2: elbow

Neither is good for a pitcher = not good

Are we talking 1 month, 2 months ? How long do the A's expect Harden to be out for ?
That's unknown right now. At least the AS break, I'm thinking. Here's the latest info from The Sporting News..June 8, 2006 - 11:39 a.m.

Harden is headed back to the DL, less than a week after coming off the list. He had been out for a month because of a torn oblique muscle. This time, he has a strained ligament in his pitching elbow. The team said he won't need surgery.

Fantasy Source spin: Look, kids -- it's another young stud pitcher who can't stay healthy! Harden won three of his first four starts this season, but it has been a headache to own him ever since. It's still unclear how much time he'll miss because of this latest injury.

The others that have had this same injury were out 2-3 months. Take it for what it's worth, but it doesn't look good for Harden. On a sidenote, Loaiza appears that he is finally coming around...and just at the right time.

Harden, on a 60-pitch limit did pretty good in his first appearance since June 4th...

3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

I started just in case he got some strikeouts. Looks like that was a decent move. Oakland just got a little better.

Rich Harden (shoulder) plans to audition for teams this summer.
Harden has recovered slowly from January 2012 shoulder surgery but has resumed throwing again. The oft-injured right-hander hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011 and is a long shot to ever have an impact again.

Seems like a guy you could rent to pitch for your softball team.

Underhand would probably be good for him.

His splitter is nasty on those occasions he's able to throw it
