*Not Very Official Vikings-Packers complain about Brett Favre Pre-Game Thread*

Fixed... seems that's all Packers fans do anymore.

it was about Scotty's opinion of how great 300+ yards is on 51 attempts.
All he wrote was this........"Last week Favre threw for over 300 yards"I don't see how that was "pumping him up". It just is killing you that Favre is playing well this year considering you thought it would be an epic fail! :goodposting:

While the Vikes have the advantage....lets quit the Favre threw for over 300 yards against Pitt. Wonderful...helps when you throw the ball 50 times.Yes...he carved up a zone with no pressure on him in week 4. I don't expect he sees the same thing this time. I don't think he will have as much time to throw as you think.
?? Should Favre have completed one pass of 330 yards? Pittsburgh passing D was not stopping teams this year?
The point is pumping up 300 yards as a huge milestone is great...but with as many times as they threw the ball...he should have had 300 yards. Sorry, its not a huge great stat when you throw the ball 51 times. He had a pretty good game and threw it well, not denying that...just to pump him up because of a 300 yard game after 51 attempts is laughable.Even Big Ben had a higher yards per attempt and did not play all that well.
All he did was point out a fact that Favre threw for over 300 yards last week. He didn't say it was great or pump him up. Seriously, what is your problem?

What is laughable is your antics again. Guess what....51 pass attempts doesn't automatically equate to 300+ yards. You might want to focus on completions and completion percentage first. He completed 66% of those passes for 334 yards.

All he did?Read the whole paragraph about Favre carving up GB...and the 300 yards...and the excuses for the loss...then tell me it was just pointing out that he threw for 300 again.Whats your problem?Oh, I know...sho nuff posted something not totally praising Favre...thats what.

All he did was mention Favre threw for over 300 yards against the Steelers. No commentary about it. He didn't say he carved up the Steelers. He stated Favre blew up the Packers WHICH IS TRUE!Please note.....that doesn't mean he said that Favre carved up the Steeelers. These threads are so much better without you. They really are.

Why do the same people have to take over every single Packers thread?
Ask the 3 or 4 people obsessed with any comment I make that has anything to do with Favre.I could say the same thing in any thread about any other player.Could make similar comments about a RB going over 100 yards on a ton of carries...and there would be silence from them. You could say the same thing to Scotty as I said...and they would be silent.Obsession by them is hilarious.

Having Winfield out didn't stop the Vikings from adjusting for the Steelers, who were the #2 ranked passing attack going into last week. Roethlisberger ended up with 175 / 1TD. I'm not concerned. I'd rather have him in there, of course, but the

The Packers still need to try to plan for Rice, Shaincoe, Harvin, Peterson, and Favre. That's going to be too much for them again. That's not even talking about the Vikes D Line against the swiss cheese O-line the Packers have. It's going to be a long game for the Packers.

Favre blew up the Pack in week 4 for 271 and 3 TDs. Last week Favre threw for over 300 yards, and it took two fluke turnovers (turnovers for Favre have certainly not been the rule for him this season) and a TD called back for improper blocking for the Vikings to lose to one of the best teams in the league last week. This week is going to be a statement game for the Vikings, and for Favre specifically.
Yes...he carved up a zone with no pressure on him in week 4.

Never claimed he said he carved up the Steelers...its about context...something you know nothing about. As for the threads...they are so much better when the few of you quit obsessing anytime I say anything that involves Favre. There are 3 or 4 of you that can't seem to handle when I speak on the subject...nobody else seems to mind...but you few jump every time. And its the same ones over and over and over. You really need to grow up.Care to actually talk about the upcoming game? Or just more about my posts?

It is because your comments about Favre are usually wrong!
No...its because the few of you can't handle legit criticism of anything Favre does.My posts about him are factually accurate.
  :lmao:
Laugh all you want....how about this...why don't you try actually talking about the topic.Or if you want to keep laughing...post a link to any false thing I have had to say about Favre.Either that...or if you hate it so much...use your ignore list. Its that simple.

So then don't respond to people attacking your posts. Nearly every Packers thread turns into a pissing match between you and about 8 other people and it's making them unreadable. You don't have to "defend yourself" every single time.

Remember when Viking fans first got wind of Favre and they said "oh that's great, all he has to do is hand the ball of to AP and we'll win tons of games"If you break it down, he's on the exact same pace (or higher if you take into account the competition coming up weeks 12 and on) as he was throwing passes when his arm fell off.2008 season - 32.625 attempts per game2009 season - 32.714 attempts per gameAs a Packer fan, I heavily encourage him to go out and throw 51 attempts for about 5-6 more games just in time for the playoffs to start.
I was one of those fans. I definitely do not like what I see. Now, we can break down the games, and say if the SF and Pit games are aberations, he's averaging only 26.4 attempts per game in the other five games. What was the common factor between Pit and SF games? They were the two games where he had his two lowest passer ratings, and two lowest completion percentages of the season (the Pit completion percentage was just under the Cle completion percentage FTR). What I would like to conclude from this is that it appears the worse Favre plays, the more he ends up needing to throwing the ball. Or is it the more Childress game plans to throw, the worse Favre does? I don't know, but either way I feel good about the chances that he is not going to continue to throw 30+ times per game for the rest of the season, and that the Pit/SF games are not going to be representative of the rest of the season. We'll see.

Here is what worries me as a Packer fan:

1. Our O-line may have looked good against Cleveland, but that is a terrible football team. The Viking D will be a huge test for the whole O-line

2. Our defense still doesn't scare anyone. Yeah, it's great to have Bigby back, Collins healthy, Matthews in the starting lineup. But when it comes down to it, we still didn't get great pressure on the Browns. The Browns!!!! What the hell will Favre do to us if he has more time?

3. The Vikings have a very balanced offense right now. Think about it, they were able to beat us in week 4, with AP only rushing for 55 yards (and turning the ball over once). Favre picked us apart because we got zero pressure. How will that change? Just because of Clay Matthews? And if we shift to focus more on the pass, AP will destroy us.

4. The injuries to Finley and Nelson limit our offensive flexibility and take away 2 playmakers. In particular, Finley was going to be a tough matchup for the Vikings. Nelson, eh, that injury by itself wouldn't kill us. The combo effect is huge.

5. McCarthy continues this year to have difficulty making mid-game adjustments. His playcalling doesn't impress me in the least. I have almost zero confidence in him.

I REALLY hope that the Packers win this game, because I truly hate the Vikings.

I think the common factor in those two games is that they were behind in the second half. When you are put in situations where you have to throw, then you can't expect a high completion percentage or the defense was non-existent. No, I don't think any Vikings fan wants Favre to throw 50 times in a game. I don't think any Vikings coach does either, but you have to play to win and when you're behind the clock dictates that you have to throw it. Hopefully the Vikings will start learning how to get early leads and HOLD ON TO THEM.

For fun though

Whatifsports does weekly projections and through 10,001 simulations they project results here

http://www.whatifsports.com/beyondtheboxsc...cle=20091101009

There is a link to simulate your own version of the game there as well.

I think it's broken. I did 6 simulations and the Vikings didn't get a sack in any of them. Somehow I don't think it's probable that GB holds Minnesota without a sack, much less likely enough for it to happen in 6 straight simulations.

Wow. Sho-nuff is not looking good at all in this thread. Bitter, angry, non-complementary, and a poor debator, as well.

You would come across a lotbetter if you just said that you were way off base about Favre and that you admit he's having a terrific year. The way you're acting now, is kind of like Jennifer Anistan when she talks about Brad Pitt.

I have said he is having a good year. Have said during several game threads that he was playing very well. Most of you would come off better if you could actually debate my points without making it about me.But none of you do.

Packers have the #1 Defense in the NFL according to Footballoutsiders. Interesting what happens when you start the right guys and let Kampman rush the passer. Oh yeah and you get your safeties back.

Agreed. Good points on the trailing in the 2nd half. Though, I do think the Vikes abandoned the run far too early in the Pit game. The Vikes definitely need to learn how to hold a lead. They get far too predictable and conservative with a lead. The defense seems like it should be better at holding a lead with the pass rush they can generate with the front four. Maybe they need to be more agressive. I don't know.

Gonna be travelling up from TX for my first visit to Lambeau Field for the game this weekend ... couldn't find any threads discussing game-days in GB ... can anyone point me to one? If not, I'd love to get some good game-day / weekend tips ... tailgating, parking, what to do or see in town, etc. would all be of interest.

Bringing the fam up for this one, in full support the Pack! Appreciate any insight ... we're staying over in GB Sat and Sun nights.

It is a must to hang our in the area where Stadium View Bar is at. There are several over there and those bars will be a lot of fun the weekend of a game. They have a decent casino by the airport called Oneida Casino. The Radisson Hotel is attached to it. Brett Favre's Steakhouse is a good place to eat and near Stadium View. That entire area will be a great place to hang out Saturday and Sunday before and after the game.

There is parking all over the area near the statdium. You won't have a problem if you get there early enough. Where are you staying? Many hotels have stuttles for the games.

Parking is available on the streets and in private lots (and yards) all around Lambeau. You can have a grill at most of these, but not all. There are no issues with open beers anywhere near Lambeau on gameday. I don't plan on tailgaiting this weekend - just packing up a few beers and walking around for an hour or so before I go in. That would be my recommendation for a first-timer - you can stop in bars and various outdoor parties, but just keep moving around Lambeau and slowly work your way to the stadium, walk around the parking lot, etc. Its a blast. As for parking - it depends on where you are coming from, but its usually a pretty easy in and out. If you are staying at a local hotel, no need to drive - just get a shuttle or cab. I typically park north east of the stadium - off Oneida on Liberty or Kenwood.

Great stuff guys, thanks. Yeah, we'll be staying at a local hotel so a shuttle / cab to the area sounds good. I like the idea of wandering around, slowly making our way to the stadium and checking out the scene for the couple hours leading up to the game. Can't wait to see this place ...

I'd recommend going to Lambeau on Saturday to check out the Atrium and the Hall of Fame. You can eat there and it is very cool.

Gonna be travelling up from TX for my first visit to Lambeau Field for the game this weekend ... couldn't find any threads discussing game-days in GB ... can anyone point me to one? If not, I'd love to get some good game-day / weekend tips ... tailgating, parking, what to do or see in town, etc. would all be of interest.Bringing the fam up for this one, in full support the Pack!

Have a great time. Parking is plentiful and people will be tailgating all around the stadium and not to mention at many homes all around the stadium. Just be nice to people and tell them it's your first trip to Lambeau. If you do that you probably won't have to buy a beer until you actually get inside the stadium. experience like Complete strangers have given me beer, brats and invited me in their homes so I could use their bathroom. It's an experience like no other.
