Gonna be travelling up from TX for my first visit to Lambeau Field for the game this weekend ... couldn't find any threads discussing game-days in GB ... can anyone point me to one? If not, I'd love to get some good game-day / weekend tips ... tailgating, parking, what to do or see in town, etc. would all be of interest.Bringing the fam up for this one, in full support the Pack! Appreciate any insight ... we're staying over in GB Sat and Sun nights.
It is a must to hang our in the area where Stadium View Bar is at. There are several over there and those bars will be a lot of fun the weekend of a game. They have a decent casino by the airport called Oneida Casino. The Radisson Hotel is attached to it. Brett Favre's Steakhouse is a good place to eat and near Stadium View. That entire area will be a great place to hang out Saturday and Sunday before and after the game.
Awesome ... will definetely check that area out. How about parking for the game ... I don't have parking passes so will be hitting up the public lots. Tailgating in full effect I would assume in the stadium lots only ... ? Thanks again ...
My parents park at the Carquest Auto Parts store on Potts Ave (not far at all of a walk and its right across the street from the bar area mentioned above). $20 to park...lots of tailgating...and they have the store open a bit so you can use the indoor bathrooms while you are tailgating. Its a short walk right past the practice fields and Hutson center to Lambeau from there. Not a bad option.Go to Carquest's site and type in Green Bay and I think the first one that comes up should be the one to the Potts ave store and will show the map.Have fun...should be a great time.

Parking is available on the streets and in private lots (and yards) all around Lambeau. You can have a grill at most of these, but not all. There are no issues with open beers anywhere near Lambeau on gameday. I don't plan on tailgaiting this weekend - just packing up a few beers and walking around for an hour or so before I go in. That would be my recommendation for a first-timer - you can stop in bars and various outdoor parties, but just keep moving around Lambeau and slowly work your way to the stadium, walk around the parking lot, etc. Its a blast. As for parking - it depends on where you are coming from, but its usually a pretty easy in and out. If you are staying at a local hotel, no need to drive - just get a shuttle or cab. I typically park north east of the stadium - off Oneida on Liberty or Kenwood.
Great stuff guys, thanks. Yeah, we'll be staying at a local hotel so a shuttle / cab to the area sounds good. I like the idea of wandering around, slowly making our way to the stadium and checking out the scene for the couple hours leading up to the game. Can't wait to see this place ...
If you are shuttling around and not parking to tailgate...Id second the idea of heading around to the parties around The Bar and Stadium View.

Thanks sho ... I actually prefer being able to park and have access to the car anytime rather than rely on a shuttle / cab back to the hotel ... so this is good to know. We won't be full out tailgating coming from out of state, but will at least want to carry stuff with us up there.I see the Carquest on Potts on google maps ... how early do you think we should roll up there to get a space? I was planning on at least a couple hours before game time to chill and check out the scene.

There is parking all over that area. You can park in lots that businesses use or park in the yard of a homeowner in the area. You will not have a problem if you get there 3+ hours before the game. Considering it is a 3:15 start you may have to allow more time if you want to get close to the stadium due to more people coming early to tailgate.http://www.lambeaufield.com/stadium_info/parking/

Look at this distrubution map for the late game - shown almost over the entire US except for Ariz and Car. And my home Fox affiliate (Nashville) where as of now they aren't showing any game.

It's been a few years since I went to Lambeau.. I think 2005 or something like that but can't you park for free on the street & walk. I don't remember paying for parking. We may of walked 6 or 7 blocks but thought it was free.. I could be wrong though..

We got there about 9ish for the Lions game and it was not too bad.Though, the Bears game my parents said it was packed when they got there (there has been a Vienna Beef stand that is taking up the front of it and having private parties for a few games this year and they might be there again selling stuff).Id say 3 hours is usually good...for this game, not sure how quickly it will fill up.But there is a lot of parking on that road...I just know that lot from having parked there a few times and its where my parents park.

Its not fox...they are not showing it because the Titans play at home at 3 that day.One of their only 3pm home games they have had the past few years.

Im pissed too since they moved this game to swap with the Philly game because of the world series they claimed...I think they moved it to push it to this time period to get people watching.

I will be watching at the Scoreboard bar near Opryland (Packer bar).

Cool ... sounds like late morning will be the way to go. I'm sure there will be all kinds of stuff going on that we'll want to check out for the hours leading up to the game ... I'm in this one for the whole experience, so won't be in a hurry to get-in and get-out for sure.

Get there even earlier to tailgate...then head over to the Atrium (if you don't got the day before) to check everything out.

I also love walking through the stadium lot...checking out all of the decked out vehicles (there is one with bras hanging from some goalposts...tons of bras)...my wife would not donate (what a prude...lol).

Just relax, don't get too blitzed, and have a great time.

I love going every time I am there (thankfully with family around and with season tickets, I get to go to a game anytime Im up there and one is going on).

Favre to be in focus (all day Sunday)

Well, at least one major player involved in Brett Favre's Lambeau Field homecoming on Sunday isn't acting like this is just another game. Of course, it's not a member of either team. Rather, it's Fox, which will send the game to 91 percent of the country and is expecting huge ratings.

The primary reason for this is Favre and Fox isn't going to let the quarterback out of its sights for even one second. Fox announced today that it will have a camera on the 50-yard-line "isolated on Favre from the second he takes the field against his former team until the moment he runs back into the locker room."

You can even watch every second of Favre by going to www.foxsports.com or www.nfl.com.

Favre also is going to be making the interview rounds, doing a one-on-one with Fox's Terry Bradshaw during that network's pregame show Sunday. That begins at 11 a.m. Steve Mariucci, who was Favre's quarterbacks coach in Green Bay at one time, will sit down with Favre for a chat that will be aired on the NFL Network during its Sunday pregame show between 8 a.m. and noon.

The Mariucci interview should be a feel-good event. The Bradshaw interview stands to be pretty interesting. Bradshaw was very critical of Favre and the way he handled things this offseason. Bradshaw showed up at Winter Park today in a town car and had a chat with Brad Childress after practice. It will be interesting to see just how excited Favre is to chat with Bradshaw.

Who is Terry Bradshaw?

Green Bay - Bob Harlan cannot bear to witness this family drama.

Thirty-seven years with the Packers, another year as the team's emeritus chairman, and Harlan cannot recall missing a single home game at Lambeau Field.

Until this one, Sunday's game between the Packers and the Minnesota Vikings, the game that marks the return of quarterback Brett Favre to Green Bay. While Packers fans mass at Lambeau Field, Harlan says he will be somewhere else far from the roar of the crowd.

He will avoid the television broadcast just like he did last month when the Packers went north to play Favre and the Vikings in Minnesota. For a few hours, he will cut himself off from the team he loves and the player he respects.

"I don't want to see him come out of that tunnel in a purple jersey at Lambeau Field," Harlan says.

Yes, this game is that emotional...

Wow....thanks for sharing that. It is amazing at how this has affected so many Packer fans in different ways. Harlan will always be a very respected person in Green Bay.

This is going to be a great game. We are much healthier than we were the last game. This one will come down to the last 2 minutes.

So healthy your O line has been upgraded from Swiss Cheese to baby swiss cheese. There are more holes, but they are smaller.

If anyone is going to the game and wanting to know where to park... for free... go north of Lambeau field, which is north of Lombardi Ave and the streets are always free up there. You may have to walk 3, 4, 5, 6 blocks, depending on what time you get there but that is nothing. Save the money and park for free.

Haha, well we only had one way to go and that was up from that last game. Having Tausch, and an improved Barbre should help. On a side note, wtf is up with this?Pics: Brad Childress As a Female Flight Attendant

I usually park in the DARE lot. It's only 20 bucks and goes to a good cause. Plus saves a lot of walking.

The pics were blurry because they were cell phone cameras, that's all.

I understand why the Packers fans would feel torn about watching Favre go against their team, but i don't understand why they would be mad at him.

Didn't the Packers tell him that they would take him back, but he'd be the backup quarterback? Can they really be angry with a guy who obviously was still good enough to be a starter in the league ( a top ten one at that) who just wanted a chance to be 'the guy'? He has more of a reason to be mad at them than they do at him.

Well, for those that may not know the area, go north on HWY 41 to Mason St. and from Mason St. head east. Military Drive will get you near Lambeau as well as the area to find a spot or you could pass Military and go to Oneida St and turn right. There is a Walgreens on the corner of Mason and Oneida. That way will also get you to the area to park for free. $20 is a lot of money when $FREE is the other option.

Well spin it how you want, but the fact that your head coach was dressing up in drag is quite disturbing.. :goodposting:

Nah that's not what was said. Brett was invited to come to camp and compete for the job with Aaron. He wouldn't even do that. He thought he could retire, un-retire and just be handed his job back. If he would have just come to camp chances are he would have had the job anyhow.

Not spin, that's why the pics are blurry. You're offended by a man dressed up like a lady? If I were you I'd be offended by all the ladies on the Packers who are dressing up like football players.
We'll see who the real ladies are today Mr Fargo..

the old guy with the voice box calling favre a traitor was also some good stuff
Old guy?Just another dis by a Viking fan.Typical
:goodposting: That old guy played on 5 Championship teams and the first two Super Bowl teams.....something the Vikings fans can't grasp. He is famous for his quote in response to a sportswriter's question asked of him how he prepared for the famous Ice Bowl game (where the game-time temperature was 15 degrees below zero). Thurston's response was "about 10 vodkas."
