He scored 5 last year.Ha scored 6 or 7 last season , verry funyy that the poll said more between 7 -9 .If he really gets the goal line carries it has to be at least 12 TDs
It will all depend on his effectiveness. If he falters early in the year in a couple opp's he may not get another crack.Ha scored 6 or 7 last season , verry funyy that the poll said more between 7 -9 .If he really gets the goal line carries it has to be at least 12 TDs
just saw this in the other thread:i missed where it said that parker will be the GL back...all i've seen thus far is that no primary GL has been named or no specific RB will fill in as bettis' replacement, but rather all three backs (FWP, duce and haynes) are all possibilities....i understand that there will be some sort of GL drill before camp breaks; is that where this info is coming from?
not sure it's a ringing endorsement of if it's straight from the coach's mouth (vs. writers op-ed piece)...nevertheless, if FWP remains the GL back the whole season, then double digit TDs should be a no brainer which should put him in the top 10 (if not top 12).Training Camp Notebook: Parker to be goal-line back, at least for nowThursday, August 24, 2006By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-GazetteWillie Parker will stay in the game when the Steelers near the goal line, at least to start the season. That's where I am planning to take himIs the 2nd round to early to take him in a 12 man league.
It sure doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement. If FWP is a not-so-effective goaline back, I would hesitate to assume 10+ TDs, and it is unliekly that he would keep the role all season, to say nothing of whether or not he can handle the pounding - it raises durability concerns. I have bumped up Heath Miller's TD numbers though.just saw this in the other thread:i missed where it said that parker will be the GL back...all i've seen thus far is that no primary GL has been named or no specific RB will fill in as bettis' replacement, but rather all three backs (FWP, duce and haynes) are all possibilities....i understand that there will be some sort of GL drill before camp breaks; is that where this info is coming from?

I'm picking last in a 14-team draft, and fully expect at least 10-12 RBs to go before my pick (along w/ Peyton and maybe SSmith). The question is whether guys like Droughns, CTaylor, JJones, DDavis, JLewis and Dillon go before him.I'll probably swallow hard and take two of Holt/Fitz/Harrison/RBrown/Westbrook/Caddy, and hope FWP is still there at the next turn. And I'm still not convinced that any RB outside the top 8 or so (LJ, LT, SA, Tiki, Portis, Rudi, Edge or SJax) are worth a first-round pick. Here's hoping for an early QB/WR run.if this is true bump him up to the early 2nd, at the top of the RB2 tier. This is a perfect example of the toughest call this year for those drafing in the mid to late 1st - WR1 (ChadJ, SSmith et al) or RB2 (Parker, McGahee, KJones, Droughns etc.).Thoughts?
Fast Willie may start the year as the goal-lie back, but theres no way he finishes the year as the GL back. Hes just not built for that kind of role. Therefore, this news can be VERY misleading.
The NewsSteelers coach Bill Cowher revealed during a press conference Wednesday that running back Willie Parker will stay on the field in goal-line situations, at least to start the season. "If somebody starts to surface and becomes that guy, as the season goes on I wouldn't rule it out," Cowher told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "But I can't say right now there's been one person like there was with Jerome [bettis]. And I don't think that's a bad thing."
Priest Holmes is 5-9, 213Willie Parker is 5-10, 219 (if he put on 10 lbs in the offseason).I think his build is just fine to be a goalline back. He didn't really get an opportunity last year, what with Bettis being there. The jury is definitely still out on his goalline abilities.Fast Willie may start the year as the goal-lie back, but theres no way he finishes the year as the GL back. Hes just not built for that kind of role. Therefore, this news can be VERY misleading.
Draft Jeff Reed and Heath Miller
If I read this correctly you seem to think the Steelers are thin at WR, but actually it is one of their deepest positions.Ward's hammy is a concern but they are being very cautious about it and I'll be surprised if he isn't ready 2 weeks from now when the Steelers open up against Miami. Wilson really came on towards the end of the season and into the playoffs. I expect good things from him this season.Nate Washington has been a standout all preseason and #1 pick Santonio Holmes and #3 Willie Reid have looked pretty good. They also have veteran Qunicy Morgan. And then there is TE Heath Miller.Looks like pretty decent group to me.Draft Jeff Reed and Heath MillerAlso with Hynes Ward gimpy, (and with a gimpy Hammy it could possibly be a while), even if Wilson turns out to be the Schizznik there is going to be some more crowding of the line this year. TE is going to have to make plays if they are going to be successful. I also can't see teams not cheating more on the run this year with the recieving corps depleted from last year (hence why the Steelers felt it was needed to get better passing this offseason - notice I said NEEDED). And Jerome isnt going to be there to beat the defense up late in games. This team is going to be an interesting balance and Im curious to see the new personality of the offense. Call me crazy, but Im not feelin all that great about the Steelers following the Super Bowl Dinner Circuit. There are areas on this team that are tissue thin. Right now my take is it looks like a house of cards. As long as no one blows, it will stand. But its only going to take a knock at the right spot and its all coming down.Just my two cents worth.
No.Is the 2nd round to early to take him in a 12 man league.
Flip a coinThey are both solid.Dunn vs Parker will be a tough choice imho.

It be interesting to look at that and project the percentage of that parker may be able to pick up.
I'm planning on taking him at 2.8 if he's still hanging around. I'm in a work league in the Pittsburgh area, so I don't think there's any way that he lasts until the 3rd round. I'll be lucky to get him at 2.8.Is the 2nd round to early to take him in a 12 man league.
If parker could even pick up a third of the average scored rush TDs inside the 10 (4) he would be a top 10 back. I think Parker could be an absolute steal at the end of the second, top of the third.2002: 29 rushes inside the 10. 10 RuTDs2003: 41 rushes inside the 10. 12 RuTDs2004: 44 rushes inside the 10. 12 RuTDs2005: 45 rushes inside the 10. 13 RuTDslooks like the top 3 options are pretty evenly distributed. does anyone have any avergage numbers of rushing TDs for PIT inside the 10 yard line for past years. no one cares about your roster or your dollar allotments.12 team dynasty league with a $100 dollar annual FA allotment and I got him for $1 right before the start of last season.
I completely agreeRothlisberger's number should increase.
He may be throwing more inside the redzone.
thats just part of it....This one sentence says it all.It will all depend on his effectiveness.
saying willie will STAY in the game is much different then willie WILL GET GOAL LINE CARRIESand what does NEAR the goal line mean? to me that means approaching but not AT THE GOAL LINETraining Camp Notebook: Parker to be goal-line back, at least for now
