NYC guys, need some help (1 Viewer)

BobbyLayne helped out some, but I need more, and thought this might be a better place.

Daughter is heading to NY on Saturday for a short internship in Ringwood NJ. She needs a place to stay for Sat-Sun, but will be staying with a friend the rest of the time there.

She also needs transportation from LaGuardia to the Washington Heights area, and from that area to Ringwood, NJ every day.

What are her best options? Most cost effective? Hotels are freaking crazy, looking at around $200/night for those 2 nights.

Any info or help would be greatly appreciated!

Help? Fine. Change the thread title to "NYC" before you get a flood of angry upstate knuckle draggers mocking you relentlessly.

You're not going to do much better than $200/night for a weekend unfortunately. That actually sounds pretty cheap. Maybe she could find a cheaper hotel near Ringwood.

The best suggestion would probably be to check out www.airbnb.com. She can probably get anything from a bed in a shared apt to a studio on her own for less than $200.

As for the commute, Ringwood is really really north Jersey so it's going to be a haul every day. Guessing subway from Washington Heights to Port Authority, then a bus. Looks like a little short of two hours door to door.

And as for getting from LGA, most cost effective are shared shuttles. I think they have some that go to different areas of midtown like Grand Central and Port Authority that run $15 or $20. From there she can take the subway uptown.

Thanks RUSF, I guess the other option is to take a cab, but someone said it would be like $35 one way.
