NYG to Sign Kawika Mitchell to one year deal (1 Viewer)

i was hoping he would go somewhere where he could be MLB, but pierce is entrenched there...

WLB would be better than SLB at this point...

1 yr deal not a ringing endorsement, but if he proves himself, perhaps he signs longer deal in 08, with NYG or elsewhere...

One local beat writer believes Mitchell is seen as more of a SLB.

(UPDATE: From what I'm told, there's a chance Mitchell could sign either late today or early tomorrow. The Giants seem poised to do something here to start firming up their LB corps and this appears to be more than just a "How ya doin'?" kind of visit. Also, someone confirmed for me the team sees Mitchell as an outside LB -- probably the strong side, though there's a chance he might play weak side.)

I didn't see as many Chiefs games this past year as before, so maybe he's improved, but it always seemed to me that Mitchell would make a good WLB, but not SLB. But then, I am a biased Kawika owner. :bag:

What's that sound? Oh, that is the air coming out of the tires on the Kawika bus. "Last stop is NYG, everybody off!" ;)

 I hear ya! Not what I was hoping for. Apparently Mitchell is not that well thought of out there. I felt like there was a good chance he'd end up in Detroit or New Orleans (before Simmons was signed). He could be a 3 down backer though.

He had the one semi-good year in KC, but I recall hearing the talk that KC was concerned about his consistancy even when he was piling on some tackles. I guess he was servicable, but not worth locking up. Then again not many teams seemed to look his way this offseason too, so that might say it all.

I think it does, obviously he has substantial flaws in his game. Beleive he signed a 1 year deal ... He better hope he plays well this year.

I'm thinking the Chiefs signing Nappy Harris to replace Kawika says it all.

Giants | Mitchell likely play on strong side Published Tue Mar 27 8:23:00 p.m. ET 2007

(KFFL) Mike Garafolo, of the Star-Ledger, reports the New York Giants LB Kawika Mitchell will probably play as the strong-side linebacker. His responsibility would be covering the opposing team's tight end.

:lmao: Kawika

His stock will plummet.

bump for the new development of Kiwanuka on the strong side...

as long as Kawika can beat out Wilkenson for the WILL, then i guess those that sold low (or even dropped him) will be crying a second time this offseason (with the first time they cried being when they thought Kawika was gonna be the SAM)
